LOL...Urdu is what a lot of people from Pakistan speak. It's interesting. I've noticed lately, especially at our playgroup, that moms do want to connect with me, but keep back because of the language barrier. So I'm trying to reach out more. In the past, because I'm the minority in the neighbourhoood I kind of kept to myself and really only connected with the moms of Dh's background. But there are a lot of women who need help understanding Canadian customs and practices. And I'm starting to realize that I need to reach out to them more and help them. Which is going out of my comfort zone (which is why I was upset that the woman walked away yesterday!) One thing I've learned from living in this neighbourhood is that a lot of Muslims, especially ones new to the country, have big misunderstandings of Christians. So I'm trying to reach out and get to know these women and show them that there are many similarities, especially amongst women. But there are definitely a lot of barriers.

Wow...what a powerful impact you could have on their lives if God can break those barriers down for you! I will pray for that and for opportunities for you to reach out and KNOW it is God's leading.

It sounds like you do have a wonderful opportunity. I hope things work out for you. I have two Pakistani friends who speak Urdu. We don't see each other as often, now that I have Nathan, but I really need to give them a call and see how they are doing. The younger sister even takes English classes at a local church. I've learned a lot from them, even though I was technically the younger sister's tutor for a while. We are pretty tired at my house. Nathan had a very rough night due to a cold he's developing, and once I get him to sleep, I couldn't sleep myself. He's napping now, and I did lie down for 30 minutes, but I couldn't sleep. dH and I are still going out tonight, and Nana and Papa are watching the baby. He has no fever, just a runny nose. He should be fine.

Well, since you go overdue anyway maybe you could schedule an induction for July 3/4? It's not the ideal situation but it could be a solution.

Oh yeah, I think Emma(or was it Hannah?) was a 37 weeker. We'll just pray that doesn't happen!

Ugh. Pray for Sandy and crew. They're about 2.5 hours away from here and the alternator went in their car. Justin can fix it, but they have to have it towed to where they can get a part. I think they're on the Thruway too, which I'm sure is a pain.

Well, they were at a rest stop, so at least not on the side of the road. I think they are at a part's store now.

I thought that you only notice an alternator problem when you try to start the car. Once the car is running you don't use it.

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers on the opportunity I have in my neighbourhood. It is difficult. One mom that I get together with, her husband meets on a regular basis with someone else in the neighbourhood who is Christian and is here with the purpose of ministering to Muslims. But the husband is meeting with the guy so that he can argue with him, not that he has any interest in becoming a Christian. Hopefully God will break through that barrier one day, but honestly, it's hard to see it happening sometimes. I tend to be of the idea that we'll agree to disagree. I recognize that they are as strong in their faith as I am in mine. I'll mention little things here and there, ask questions about their religion then tell them where ours stands on the issue, but other than that, I have a tough time getting into religion. But I figure, that I can at least befriend them and squash some of the stereotypes they have of Christians (Christmas time was especially fun!)

The battery is used to start the car and is drained by starting/using electric things while the engine is not started. The alternator recharges the battery once it is started, so that it will start the next time. I'm glad that it happened while Justin was there to deal with it, and that they could get it fixed.
