I am faced with some very difficult decisions in my life. The Giants around me seem more than I can stand at times.
How much of yourself and what God has taught you do you share with someone that you don't know? Do you approach a total stranger when you felt led by the spirit to do so?
My doctors have told me that I don't have long to live, and I feel a sense of urgency with each thing that takes place in my life. God has taught me so much about the Word, myself, my family, and my general attitude towards others. I just don't know how to translate that into sharing with others.
I have gone from being a battered drug-addicted sinner to a hard-working Christian mother of six children, four of which are not my own. I have gone from being someone who rarely talked to God to talking to Him before my feet hit the floor in the morning.
How do you share the way God wants you to share? Do you follow His voice, his calling for you?
A prime example of following God when you don't want to is the story of the woman who felt led to brush a man's hair on a plane. She didn't want to get out of her comfort zone, and she was mortified to ask him. Yet, God used that moment to make her stronger, and the man, who was a Christian, had needed her to brush his hair so that he might look nice for his wife that he had not seen in a long time.
Do you have any suggestions or stories that you can share like this? I would be very intrested to hear your thoughts on this.

I think that might be your ticket right there. I wasn't an addict per se, but I did a lot of drugs in my teen years. I find it easier to talk to people in similar situations. I have somewhat of a script worked out, like a little piece of my testimony. I have a very hard time hearing God...maybe I just have to get used to it...So, I can't say I follow God's lead when it comes to sharing the Word and what God has done for me. But, nothing I say goes againts scripture, so I think He's probably OK with my way for now.

My neighbor, who is gay...kinda used to be Lutheran often comes over. He's an alcoholic too. I've been working on him lately. He knows my hubby well and how he used to be. He had mentioned how much of a change he's noticed, soi I went on to talk about how I have trying to apply Bible principles to our marriage on my end and how I've been praying for him,and how I feel that God worked on his heart. He just replied with, "Well, good for you sweetie"....But, I keep planting these little seeds in my neighbor, and maybe he'[ll conme to church with me someday.

Like Christina said it is easier to relate to people and share with them, when you have been in similar situations... tell others your testimony, tell them how you used to be in situation like theirs, and how you came to being saved, and how God has brought you where you are today.

Tell them how great God is!

If God is leading you to talk to some one, He will help you.

I just wonder sometimes if my sharing is even planting a seed or if people are saying, "Is she for real?" I have had alot happen to me in my life, and I sometimes feel like the people around me think I am just blowing smoke. What should I do if after sharing the person doesn't believe I went through any of it? I have the scars, but I am embarassed to show them. Then, sometimes it is uncomfortable to share these things with strangers. How do I overcome that?

Beck, I've been through a lot too, some of it almost unbelievable. I usually stick to the more believable parts.

Is it ok to ask what's wrong with you? If you'd rather not say, that's totally fine.

I know what it feels like to not want to step out of my comfort zone but I'm very grateful for the man who did it for me. I was only dating DH at the time and I didn't feel like we "meshed" well and I didn't want to date him anymore. I was at an evening service that hadn't started yet, sitting toward the front and praying. I told God I did not feel that my BF loved me and I wanted to break up with him and sought His guidance. About an hour and a half later after service a man walked up to me. He said that he didn't know me but felt that he had a word from God for me, could he share. I said sure. The message was "He will show you how much he loves you.". The guy asked if that made sense and I said I wasn't sure because I knew how much God loved me (my own prayers hadn't yet dawned on me). Later at home I suddenly realized - duh! The message from God was that my BF would show me how much he loved me. An exact answer to my prayer. Well now DH and I are almost 6 years married and expecting child #3 and I can't imagine life without him. I'm so glad that man was brave enough to speak to me!

For sure it can be uncomfortable to share! Sometimes we have no idea what God's purposes are for what He's asking us to do. And it may be that some won't believe you. But I've found that sometimes, when sharing my painful experiences and how God walked me through them, it speaks to someone who is struggling with similar circumstances but were afraid to speak up themselves. Kind of a "hey, I'm not alone in this" and it opens up opportunity to minister to them. I think sometimes the enemy wants to keep us quiet, to keep us from encouraging one another and building each other up.

Just hope to encourage you to keep speaking it out if you are so led. We all have scars of some kind.

Recently I was able to share with people who needed to hear Gods word, they may have not like what I said to them, they may have let it go in one ear and out there other, but I stepped out and told them Gods word on the subject, and now all I can do is pray for them.
These people came to me and started talking with me, things that you never expect to hear about, but even if you tell them Gods word, and share with them and they choose not to take it... you tried, you planted a seed.

I know! To share those parts that seems to be staight out of a novel, well, people tend not to believe that. That has caused some problems in the past.
