As much as I enjoy discussing politics, this is getting confusing here. We have 8 or so threads on Obama on the first page. No matter what the OP is on, most of them wander off into other topics. I am sure if someone started a thread on Obama's favorite vacation destination someone would mention his record on abortion or how elitist he is. Do we really need so many threads discussing the same thing?

I dunno, but I am sick of hearing anything about him and it's not even close to election time yet! I wish the law was no discussing an election until 3 months before election day!!!

I agree. We should have an Obama-bashing one stop and then leave the election forum for those who want to discuss issues and how candidates differ.

I looked it the word "issue" and here was the first defination I ran across.

"an important question that is in dispute and must be settled"

Speaking for myself his character is an "issue" that I find most alarming and an "issue" I believe is worthy of great discussion.......

Unless of course - you all agree that the man has a terrible character and will say or do anything to get elected - then in that case it's no longer an "issue" because the matter has been settled and there is no question or dispute.

Won't he get his own thread once he is president?

Good question. There are pluses and minuses of a one-size-fits-all thread. It seems to decrease posting and makes it difficult to talk about specific issues. The Bush thread is usually described as the "Bush-bashing" thread, which is probably not the original intent. It might be better to have a forum for discussing the president, rather than a single thread.
That way we could have the Obama is a Muslim thread, the Obama's pastor/church thread, the Obama wife thread, etc.

Oh, my ............... it's just too hard to keep up.

I keep having a fantasy that voters will look at issues rather than these crazy things. Fundamentalist Christians will believe just about anything .

And that comes from a McCain supporter.

I think we should have two one stop bashing threads, one for Obama and one for McCain, and then we should allow for very specific 'Candidates on the issues' threads, each of which civilly discusses one particular issue (like healthcare, or military spending) and nothing else.

Of course, I also hope to see world peace in my lifetime.

Sounds like a great idea. This way, we can keep the discussions on-topic.

I'm actually suprised this thread hasn't been hijacked by the PETA folks or the Republican-alien conspiracy theorists, yet. (Or a certain issue that will remain nameless on the conservative side of the coin.)

Jack you know and I know that we can start a thread on "Candidates on the NBA playoffs" and sooner or later, probably sooner, it will be hijacked by...well, let me just say by those who have only ONE issue and it's NOT healthcare or military spending.

How about a one stop thread for those who are in support of Obama???
