I am not sure where this post is supposed to go but here goes. I was reading through John earlier this week and I noticed something that was really interesting to me. Everyone is familier with Peter denying Christ 3 times. Then in John 21:15-17 John says: 21:15 So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. 21:16 He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. 21:17 He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved because he said unto him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said unto him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep. What I get out of this is that ,eventhough, Peter denied Jesus 3 times. He still loved him and trusted him with his sheep. I love how Jesus gave him 3 more chances to make up for the 3 times he denied him. I see that Jesus is telling him, I know you denied me 3 times but I still love you. Isn't it wonderful that we worship a God that is so loving. This passage really spoke to me, and showed me how much God loves us.

It is wonderful, and amazing to know God loves us that much, and that even though we keep slipping up, He keeps forgiving us. I also like that passage, because it shows to me how much Jesus really loves us personally. To know how much it must have been killing Peter inside to have denied Him 3 times, to go and ask Peter how much he loved Him 3 times, I think that just shows the redemptive kind of love that only Jesus can offer. I wonder how long it took Peter to understand what Jesus was doing, and how incredible he must have felt afterwards.

Yes, and I love your perspective on these verses. Also that he was giving Peter direction for his live. Note also that the first time Jesus asked Peter if he loved him, Jesus asked if he loved him with agapo, (agape) love. Peter replyed that he phileo loved Him. So Jesus brought it down to Peter's lever and the next two times asked Peter if he phileo loved Him.
