I see many post and hear many people complain about certain pastors because they teach on a certain topic on a regular basis. That they should be teaching xyz not abc. Why don't they ever teach on xyz?

Has anyone every thought about this?

Some preachers are called to talk about specific areas. That is what God chose for them to zone in on and teach on. Not every preacher has a broad based ministry calling. Has anyone every thought perhaps if a preacher is teaching on a specific topic for an extended period of time its because that is what the majority of the people sitting in the pews need to hear. And until it gets through to them God will keep sending the same message. Has anyone ever thought that its not just about standing there and teaching about random topics from the bible but that God can give pastors specific topics to teach on. I'm sure some preachers do have a broad based ministry but couldn't it be that some are called to more specific topics.

God sends his word to his people not in general but he sends what the people in that church need to hear. Some mega ministries that are on television may have a specific calling and so that is what they preach about.

Its easy for us to say that person is not of God becasue he doesn't teach on xyz only abc but how do we know that he is not doing what God told him to do. Everyone has a different calling do we say the usher isn't of God because all she does is usher people to seats and not work in the childrens ministry. Being a pastor isnt always a general topic ministry because each pastor can be called to a different area of expertise. So the majority of there messages are geared towards that.

I think we as humans sometimes just see life the way we think it is suppose to be and as God has already told us our ways are not his ways and our thoughts are not his thoughts. To say a preacher is not of God I think is a dangerous thing when we have no idea what God has called him to preach about. I imagine there will be many tears shed when we reach heaven and see who else is being welcomed in and our life is shown to us and we see how awful we were in talking about another person because they did not preach or teach on what we thought they should. How many others we detered from hearing what they may have needed to hear from that preacher. To know that we were a stubbling block for someone else. The bottom line is to do what God calls you to do not to please people.

More people should pay attention to this scripture I Chronicles

20 And when they went from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people;

21 He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

22 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

Unless the person is blatantley preaching that Jesus is NOT the way no one knows if they are called by God or not. You can't say he's not just because he teaches on the same thing.

I'm not saying we shouldn't speak out against false prophets but to call someone a false prophet because he teaches on a specific topic more that any other doesn't seem to qualify to me. We each have a job to do God doesn't need all of us trying to do it all. He gives each of us what he wants us to do. He doesn't need every preacher to preach on sin and repentance because there is more to God than that. There are many subjects in the bible to be covered and there are many people on the planet called to be teachers, pastors etc. Why can't he spread it around if he so chooses.

Just my thoughts and no one has to agree.

Here are some examples of the different spiritual gifts. Anyone called to the preaching ministry whether it be a pastor, evangalist or teacher etc. can be more geared toward anyone of the spiritual gifts and thereby having a good portion of their messages geared in that area.
I copied and pasted these from a website.

EXHORTATION: Rom. 12:8 - to come along side of someone with words of encouragement, comfort, consolation, and counsel to help them be all God wants them to be (Greek Word: paraklesis - calling to one’s side)

FAITH: 1 Cor. 12:8-10 - to be firmly persuaded of God’s power and promises to accomplish His will and purpose and to display such a confidence in Him and His Word that circumstances and obstacles do not shake that conviction

HEALING: 1 Cor. 12:9,28,30 - to be used as a means through which God makes people whole either physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually
EVANGELISM: Eph. 4:11 - to be a messenger of the good news of the Gospel (Greek Word: euaggelistes - preacher of gospel; eu=well, angelos=message - messenger of good)

TEACHING: Rom. 12:7; 1 Cor. 12:28; Eph. 4:11 - to instruct others in the Bible in a logical, systematic way so as to communicate pertinent information for true understanding and growth

Some have a many of these, others one some two maybe three. ( remember the scriptures on the talents that were given) All the gifts presents Gods word but not all in the same way. If you have only been given one then I could see how most of what you teach on would be geared around that.

It's unfair to put all pastor's in one category...and all teachers. If a pastor is led by the Holy Spirit those who need the word will receive it and those who reject it will be held accountable.

I would say this- there is a difference between a pastor and a teacher in that a teacher could very well be called to minister to one section of people regarding one specific subject day after day year after year, but a pastor is called to be not just a teacher but a shepherd, tending to souls of the flock. He is held accountable for the flock entrusted to his care.
