Anyone care to discuss this show? We just watched the premiere. Wow. This almost feels like the finale of season 2, where everyone was split up!

I was happy to see a new episode on Sunday! This looks like a good set-up for the season. It looks like all the wives will remain together, somehow? That seems odd. Especially Tiffy with her kids- how did they get to come with her anyway? I understand that she might not be a target, but the kids still would be, right? We were really curious what the "president-elect" would look like. I think they went out of their way to have absolutley NO resemblance to either real-life candidate.

Yeah, I didn't quite get the sending the kids to grandma's plan. And what happens to Kim's sick baby? Seems like it might have been a better idea to keep them concealed on base. But then that kind of limits the plot lines, doesn't it?

I kinda figured Tiffy discussion with the commander (?) somehow allowed her to keep the girls with her. She mentioned something about them not going to grandma's when they were talking, didn't she?

How did everyone like the second ep? They explained why Tiffy could keep her kids and also set up another potential conflict. Did anyone else think it was strange that they dropped the whole President thing so fast?

I'm not sure it's completely dropped. The whole reason they're in hiding is because the same people behind the presidential attacks were also after them. I suspect it will be a recurring theme throughout the season. What I do find odd is that they all in the same place. It seems like it would be a whole lot easier to conceal them and make them less identifiable if they were separated.

I agree - strange that they're all in the same place, and that they can see their husbands when they're home. I was glad for the explanation about Tiffy's daughters, but that older one has some major issues to work through. Is that "regular" teen rebellion? I know I was never that way, LOL! If the child is that rebellious, I think she should be farmed out to a relative as well, because she probably wouldn't keep the secret.

I don't think it's regular. I think she's angry with Tiffy about the affair and divorce stuff. But my guess is that because Tiffy and Mac have to pretend to be happily married, they will end up working things out.

The Unit is my favorite show. The only thing I have disliked about it is the Colonel having an affair with Macs wife (Tiffy). Bob Brown told him to take it to the Unit two weeks ago, which they haven't elaberated on yet. Trust me, as former Marine myself, the Colonel better sleep lightly.

Sender - I thought that Bob meant to channel that wrath into the missions they do... for now. Today's episode was good. It's exciting to see the unit with a female - she seems to be a real asset. I do miss Hector, though. That student Tiffy is dealing with is a real... UGH! I cannot imagine. What do y'all think of Kim's new boss? I'm wondering if he isn't somehow related to the bad guys. Either that, or that's what the writers want me to think. I didn't like all the questions he asked about the fertility treatments, like he was testing her - dosages, blah blah blah - trying to get her to say something wrong to know she was bluffing. I know that sex slavery is a real issue in Eastern Europe. Very, very sad.

Re: taking it to the Unit- I thought Mac told everyone, and they were going to do something, like a trial?, but then all the relocation stuff happened so they haven't been able to deal with it. Kim's boss- our theory is that it's the new woman's (Hector's replacement) husband. Either that or it's a test.

That's right! I forgot that he had told the rest of the unit in their little clubhouse, said something like, "A member of The Unit sleeps with another member's wife - that's punishable by death." And Jonas agreed but said that now was not the time. Hmmm.

I was out of town when the last ep aired and wanted to get caught up before reading any spoilers. What I meant by it being dropped is that they don't seem to be going on any missions to find the people who came after the President. It's business as usual with the exception that the wives have been relocated. I'm still loving the show, but I just think the Pres plot needs to have a little movement.

Last night's episode seemed like...filller. I'm not sure what the point was. It didn't seem to add to the story at all. The only thing I can get out of it is the unit getting less support from the govt (seemed like the colonel got the runaround looking for the signature).

I'm confused. Have missed some episodes. Finally turned off my stereo since the music overpowered the dialogue so maybe I can watch & catch up.

It's like they've lost their direction a little bit or trying to change the format. The show is still riveting, but it seems like they're trying to turn a standalone show into a serial but aren't quite sure how to do it. That seems really strange.

It has always been a serial. I just think the situation (with the women in one place, men who knows where) is harder to write for.

ORIGINAL: ta_mosquito It has always been a serial. I just think the situation (with the women in one place, men who knows where) is harder to write for. Actually, Tricia, it hasn't. The show has certain elements that carry from week to week, but the overall format is a standalone which means the main plot is resolved by the end of the hour. Back when the show came out, networks wanted episodes that could be contained in an hour so it was easier to hook new audiences. I remember that was a major network concern with Alias because if you missed one ep you wouldn't be able to follow the next ep. There was lots of talk about doing more bottleneck episodes for that very reason. I don't think having the wives and husbands separated is the issue per se. To some extent, they've always been had separate stories. It just seems like something went screwy with the storyline the women are supposed to be in. Like it wasn't fleshed out well enough. Or perhaps we have a major surprise in store that will answer all these questions. Either way, I'll definitely be watching!

I'm just going to have to start watching them online. I tivo the show and 3 episodes ago it got cut off just as Kim was calling her kids (I think) Then the other night only the first few minutes recorded. Tivo doesn't see that the football games go over time and I forget to go check and see what is going on. It's very annoying.

The only other thought is to record from 10:00 to midnight (9:00-11:00 Central time), then watch it the next day - you're sure to catch the whole episode then! That's probably what I will end up doing. I wish they hadn't moved it to Sunday. It's like Siberia.

Good episode last night. It took a lot, but I'm glad Tiffy and Mac were honest with each other and seem to both want to make their marriage work. Interesting how they set up that Saudi guy, all the ruses they had, to try to get him to confess.
