No, not the movie.. although it's one of my favorite oldies... especially the motorcycle chase.

Anyways, what do you singles do to escape and get away from it all...?

Oh, this is an easy one for me. I go to the beach!! If I had my druthers, I'd spend all day there tomorrow. There is a certain beach that is practically empty and allows for miles of gulf-side strolling. Just hearing the waves roll up onto the beach, feeling the warm water cover my feet, and being close to God can "take me away" like nothing else. Unfortunately, this is nearly 2 hours away, so I don't go often. But I do keep pictures close by so I can "escape" in my mind when things get tough.

Music, hiking, mountain biking, running, etc. all help me to unwind/relax. Road trips to the mountains or ocean are always nice.

Isn't music great for that?

It's the same for me.

When I wish to get away from it all I take one of my favorite books to an out-of-town library and spend the day reading, listening to music on my headphones and then have lunch in a restaurant I've never been to before and try a new dish I've never tried before. Sometimes I will make a weekend of it, spending the night in a motel and go to church someplace I've never been to before.

Great idea.

I've been trying to think of a good weekend trip to do this... although i think I'd prefer to take it far.. far away to another country and culture and lose myself there for awhile. Maybe not a weekend, but a journey.

Well, I used to just drive aimlessly and explore areas I've never been to before, but with gas prices as they are today - that's not possible. Right now, I just sleep. Though, Pauley, that's a GREAT idea (well, with the exception of spending the day in the library - I'd find other things to do).

I can go to the beach any time I want (I live less than 10 minutes away from the water).

Geeky, I'm definitely your long lost dorky sister. That's what I do when I want to get away from it all. I don't listen to music much; only at work and I only listen to one band...which isn't something most Christians will listen to. Yeah, die hard Metallica fan here...if you are, then, we're definitely twins, lol. I love roadtrips to the mountains and hike them every summer. And don't get me started on running and mountain biking (I'm married to my bike at the moment, which is making my running shoes feel a bit miffed). Told you I'm dorky. Do you ski?

I guess if I need to get away from it all for a few hours, running always does it for me. for a day, it would be hiking, and for a few days, I go on road trips...preferrably where there's mountain to climb/hike(I wish I live in Colorado). Rock climbing is probably the ultimate way to "get away" because everything else fades into oblivion and you're living in the moment. I read a lot, but there's not a lot of books that can take my mind off my worries and anxiety completely.

When I need to get away from it all, I load my camping gear on my pack horse, saddle up my riding horse and go out as far as I can. Really get away from it all, absolutely everything.

Oh yeah, you get to the right place and you could ride for days and not see a single person, vehicle, building or road. Just mountains, trees, streams and if you're lucky a mountain lake all to yourself.

I used to have horses and you're so right. After riding I would always feel so relaxed.

I don't ski but I really want to try snowboarding (I used to surf so I think it will be easier for me to learn). Rock climbing is also something I want to try.

I saw Metallica live before Cliff was killed. I got his autograph but I can't find it now. I haven't listened to them much lately- I prefer their older stuff.

So do you prefer cross country, all mountain or downhill? What kind of bike do you have?

That does sound nice! You won't find that here in Florida, well, except for the forest areas.

I like going to the park also, lake, water area. Sometimes just being in nature helps me to escape.

I do XC for cardio since we get tonnes of snow here (and for a long time too), but I like downhill for fun. Last time I went, I was nursing a knee injury, but I went anyway...skiied through the night. IT was so much fun but had to stay off running for a few months after that. I'm trying snowboarding this winter and ice climbing....I just got to. And my bike is just a basic Trek...which is fine for now. We're happy together, lol.
