We are leaving in the morning for 5 days at the beach. I can't wait to leave!

We are going with another single mom and her daugther. We are totally different I am very laid back and kinda what ever, going with the flow. She is OCD and has very bad anxity problems. This might not be totally enjoyable, lol. Her daughter is 6 and mine is 10. My daughter is more like a little grown up than a 10 year old so it is going to be hard being around a whiney 6 year old.

I am going insane. I don't get 2 minutes alone with Taylor. We can't even go out in the water without her daughter.

She has anxity problems bad and everything everything everything stresses her out.

Sorry that you're not enjoying your holiday.

Maybe you could have a straight talk with her, and set some boundaries.

She just told my child she was being ugly because her daughter makes every move that she makes. She moved aw ay from her and she yelled at Taylor about it. I wish I were driving....

You need to tell her that she is not to speak to your daughter like that - that even IF your daughter needs telling off, then she should come to you about it and leave you to deal with the situation, not speak to her directly.

What made you decide to vacation with a family so different anyways? Just curious.

We are both single moms and with each others help we were able to stay in a nicer hotel and stay longer than I would have if it were just my daugter and I.

Plus for safety reasons. With it being just the tow of us, I don't always feel safe when we travel.

I think the key to making such an arrangement successful is maintaining a good sense of humor...and do as you did in your last posts...keep reminding yourself of the positives in the situation.

I am trying really hard to keep the positives about everything. I can't wait to get home though so I can relax, lol.

We are enjoying the beach though - lots.

I just stumbled across this thread.

When I was a single mom, I did the joint vacation thing once, too.

Once...that was all it took for me to realize that vacation is NOT a vacation when the two families are so different.

We liked camping, so after that one vacation - I'd call different state parks and find out safety information like how often do the rangers cruise the park, are the gates locked at any time...etc.

I'm sorry your vacation was lacking, but now you can say that you've done it and probably wouldn't do it again...unless of course, it was a much closer friend.
