' I can hardly do anything (work out, go meet people, leave my bedroom door open to show off how hot it looks, sleep properly etc) besides go to work because I have this room which I'm tidying, but taking forever to clean! (almost a month now!) I work long hours and come home too exhausted to make a good move on it. I clean other parts of the house though and regularly do laundry!

I assumed it was the bedroom, since that's what the OP mentions.

It can take time to clean and organise a room properly. The trick is to do just a little each day and not make it worse than it was at the start of each day ~ ie tidy up each day's stuff and do a little more. Even 5 minutes is better than none.

I agree. A little each day. You will see the progress!

Then you are ahead of me...I have a whole house which I do not want anyone to see. I usually get the laundry washed, but not always put away, I keep working at it but make little progress. Oh yes, did I mention I'm a single mom working two jobs (one a bit more than full-time, the other part-time) with a large property and a bunch of beautiful, well-bred lawn ornaments (aka horses)?

Who don't give a whit about the state of your house as long as you tell them they're beautiful!

I agree... take your time. For me, daily work is just picking up after myself, but on the weekends WHEN I get the time and/or energy, that's when I do major organizing. I used to do major work about twice a year, with New Years' Day being one of them (that's when I had a week or two off for Christmas and I was bored by New Years). Now, I do a little about one weekend a month -- recently, I changed my curtains, pulled out some old decorations, and reorganized a portion of my closet in the bedroom. With the other rooms, that took about an hour. Usually, this goes along with days I go shopping for home interior stuff. If I bring home some clear storage containers, I'll spend about an hour putting them to good use. Or if I get a new magazine, I might spend some time implementing a new idea. The rest of the time, I won't spend more than five minutes a day.
