I was a lost sheep! (Luke 15) I cried out to God one night over 22 years ago to show me if He was really there and if He really cared. I was fed up with how I was living and everything I was doing wrong seemed magnified to me and I felt sinful and horrible. I had known 'about' God from school and Sunday School but I never knew I could have a personal experience with Him and know Him as my Saviour and friend. About a week after this a couple of Faith Mission pilgrims came to our village and set up meetings. I found myself drawn to go along and find out what they were about (and because one of the pilgrims was a handsome lad I admit). However, once in the meeting, I forgot all about him and found myself drawn to what they were speaking about. I gave my heart to the Lord that night and was born again of God's Spirit. The burden of my sinful attitudes and wrong doings was forgiven and I had freedom, release and the peace of God which passes all human understanding. A few days later, the pilgrims gave me a little NIV Bible and told me to mark any verses that I thought God was speaking to me through. I thought "what on earth are they talking about?" but took the Bible home and read it in bed that night. I read the parable of the Lost Sheep in Luke Chapter 15 and could not stop reading over the verses. The next night, I went along to the meetings and guess what they were preaching about? That's right - The Lost Sheep! I told them what I was reading the night previous and they explained that they were supposed to have their mission meetings in another town in the area but somehow the hall they were to have their mission meetings in was over-booked and the only hall in the whole shire they could find at short notice to continue was the one up the road from my house. 1 God confirmed through the passage I read in my Bible the night before 2 Through what the pilgrims spoke about that night from God's Word 3 Also what the pilgrims said about the over-booked hall that I was a lost sheep and Jesus had sent the pilgrims back 14 miles south of their original destination so I could be found (spiritually speaking that is) - something I have had to use over and over in spiritual warfare when the devil has tried to make me believe otherwise. To anyone who has been led to read this and if you are still not sure what to believe - I would challenge you to ask God to show you if He is real or not and if you really, really mean it and are willing for His response, then He will definately show you! I know for sure because I called out to God one night and not long after He led me to into His family - "For whosoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"

Eventhough I am a female, I am like King David. I am childlike I always run to the Father with my problems and concerns Dance with joy and celebrate with Him over victories I am a fighter I have my moments of despair Know my salvation comes from God I praise Him in the good as well as the bad CRH

I am like Peter. I open my mouth when I should keep it closed. I keep it closed when I should speak up. And at times I do the right thing and lean on His strength. That's when things get good.

That's hard because I so relate to so many. Most often, it's Isralites. God gets them out of a jam, they praise Him, then forget and so they sin again. So they pray. God gets them out of a jam, they praise Him, then forget and go sin again. If forced to choose just one, I'd say the apostle Paul in one aspect. He wrote something to the effect, "the things I want to do, I don't; those things I don't want to do, I do". That's my life.

I identify with Deborah and Daniel. Deborah was a woman doing work that a man traditionally did, but keeping her femininity. Daniel moved in a pagan world bringing God's wisdom to people who wouldn't or didn't know how to listen to God on their own. I don't always succeed in either of those things, but it's something I seek to do.

I would be like Doubting Thomas and the father who said "Lord I believe, help my unbelief".

I think I have been nearly all of them, at one time or another.

Often I think of the prophet Daniel not for his closeness with the heart of Jehovah but he(and his three compatriots)saw no conflict between serving a pagan king while worshiping the King of kings neither did they dissolve the connection between worship and service into simplicity. Probably I have a touch of Samson, too.

I am like the woman at the well, because of many reasons, one is that I tried to give Jesus some water (I cried at His cross and was willing to do anything for Him) instead He gave me Living Water, still willing to do anything for Him. The disciples didn't want Jesus to talk to her and she was not good like the other girls, had more than five husbands and not allowed to mix with the good people because they thought she was low because of some of the things she had done. Jesus gave me the Living water and many came to look for Jesus because of what happened to her, like what happened to me.

I am Mephibosheth. I am lame in both feet but I am seated at the kings table for every meal. He sent and found me... a sniveling fool of a man with a corrupt heart, deep in sin... and He brought me to His house. I am still lame and He still cares for me. I did nothing to deserve it. I thought He would kill me but I was wrong. J

I've been different characters during different seasons. Most often it seems, I enjoy my pigpen...so prodigal for sure. For some unknown reason, the Lord has always dealt with me like John - softly and lovingly. I don't get pops to the forehead like my husband who is a definite Peter. And it is certainly not because I don't deserve them or need them. I've felt like Rahab and I've also been the woman at the well.

Physically, probably Paul - I'm scarred, been imprisoned for doing the right thing, my eyesight stinks (see the large letters with which I write, LOL), have been beaten, etc., etc. My outlook is probably that of St. John...a cross between his Gospel and Revelation. You know, now that I think of it, maybe that's why people think I'm so strange...

When I do lean on God and He uses the boldness, I also identify with most of the OT prophets because of speaking God's word and feeling like no one want's to hear it. One day we'll all answer Jesus. Won't that be wonderful?

I'm going to have to say Elijah. I'm a bit of a loner and have trouble with unjust authority. But even though I get in trouble by challenging authority figures I'm not deterred from the path of truth.

Peter or Doubting Thomas. Peter since I am always sticking my foot in my mouth or making some stupid mistake. Doubting Thomas since I have trouble having faith in God unless I for myself see him working in situations. I gotta see it to believe it ya know.

Also the woman who anointed Jesus with oil and washed His feet with her tears, I think she was the same person that was at the well and what she did was very prophetic. Sometimes I get upset that she doesn't have a name, but I am sure Jesus will give her a new name.

I think I'm partially David because he loved to sing praises to God, and I then I'm partially Peter because I have "foot in mouth" disorder, and when I start trusting in God, I also start doubting as well like how Peter did when he stepped out into the water when he saw Jesus walking on the water toward his boat, but when Peter saw the stormy waves, he got scared and started sinking. I'm like this often, and I often cry out to Jesus, LORD help me! And He comes to my rescue with this answer....."Oh Mari, why did you doubt?"
