Hi folks, Please forgive the self-serving post. My band and I are about to release our debut CD. They'll be for sale on CD Baby and other websites. Many of those sites ask you to list the "known" bands you sound like. Having been recording & self-producing this CD for a year, I've lost all objectivity. I think we sound like us. But if you wouldn't mind giving a few of our tunes a listen and posting who you think we sound like (Christian or secular), we'd very much appreciate it. We're in our 40's, so our music may sound a tad dated, and I've been told my vocals sound a little like the guy from Toad the Wet Sprocket, but other than that, I'm not sure. You can hear some of our stuff here: Risen Son on Soundclick and Risen Son on MySpace Thanks & God bless, Colin, for Risen Son

You've definitely got a Toad the Wet Sprocket thing going on. I can't really say what other bands you "sound like". Nothing really jumped out at me.

Hey Philip! Thanks for the reply. We probably are kind of hard to categorize. Just checked out your stuff on myspace. Sounds great! Good luck & God bless you guys. (added you as a friend, btw). Colin

Well, I have to admit, I don't know the names of bands these days, but it did strike as very...contemporary. Nothing really stood out at all. I didn't really get the "classic rock" vibe either. When I think classic rock, I think AC/DC, or slightly more modern, Guns N' Roses. Wolfmother, now they're a modern band that really pull out the "classic" card, lying somewhere in between Led Zeppelin and AC/DC. But this struck me as most of what's been going on the past few years.

Maybe a little Elliot Smith? Fusebox? The National? Paul Wright? Pedro the Lion? None of them real strong, but little bits and pieces perhaps.

I listened to a couple of your tunes on Soundclick. I can't think of anybody current that you sound like, but the vocals reminded me of Justin Haywood of the Moody Blues when they were very young, like in the late 60's.
