Have any of you ever used "Writing Strands"? My older son is behind in writing and I was wondering if this was good and would help. Thanks!

How old is your son? We found Writing Strands somewhat confining. My daughter found it boring.

Writing Strands is good for those who need things simple. The pages are black and white. There are blanks to fill in or you can write on a separate paper. They move slowly and only spend a few minutes per day in the early books. We have used book 2 and book 3 with then 3rd and 4th grade.

Your son might enjoy a combination of Wordsmith Apprentice and Wordsmith. They are definitely a different frame of mind and my dd enjoyed their offbeat sense of humor. You will need to get grammar from somewhere else such as Easy Grammar Plus.
