Bummer about your job Kimmie. I've been there more than once so I know how stressful it is. On the other side of the coin, however, great news for Andrew! That's gotta be a load off his shoulders.

Looks at Bills avatar and shakes head, a Yankee using "yall" Just please don't use "useguys" in the same sentence ... please!! Seriously, Kimberly, how did you find a good temp agency? What ??s do you ask? Is there a potential of going temp to perm? Do you know what the average length of assignments is (are)?

Kimberly, I'm glad you get to quit that job. You've been there a long time haven't you? Maybe it's time for a change.

Kimmie, sounds like a good idea to leave when it's causing you so much stress. Good news about Andrew's job though.

Hi y'all :) I wish I had time to comment on all your posts :( Please know that I appreciate your posts as well as enjoy all of them, and I miss you guys! I had to get up at 415am this morning and be at work at 5am to do 8 hours of overtime. Bleah. The day went fairly well, but now we're all caught up with the work and won't have much to do on Monday. I have plans for Monday, though. I'll be turning in my 2 week notice. Kath, I've been at this job for 7 years as a permanent employee as of June 2nd. Ryan, temp agencies vary, but based on my experience Officeteam is one of the best. All you can really do is go and sign on with a few and see what happens. Many will pay bonuses after you've worked for them a certain amount of hours, and some will begin to pay benefits if you work for them for over a year. I haven't asked a lot of questions when I've signed on with them, the agencies are usually fairly clear about their policies. Some assignments do have the potential to go permanent. That's how I found my two long-term jobs, by working for them as a temp. In both cases I was quickly asked if I wanted a permanent job with them. It's important to be a quality employee...work hard, don't be late, don't call in sick very often, be pleasant and helpful, and always try to go above and beyond, don't just put in time. Assignment lengths vary. You can let the agency know that you want long-term assignments if that's your preference, as well as letting them know you're interested in temp to perm work. I try to remember that I'm a representative of the temp agency, and I want to present them in the best light possible. Once I get hired, though, I go back to being a lazy, unreliable employee, doing as little work as possible and taking extra long breaks and lunches. Not really - just checking to see if anyone is reading this :P tomorrow is my church's 'park day'. We're having a barbeque, games, activities for kids, volleyball for adults, a bounce house and such at McKinley park in mid-town Sacramento. It'll be fun! I thought I had more to say, but I can't recall it, so I'll end this post here.

:) Well, I turned in my two-week notice today and management turned it into a 1 week notice! Friday is my last day...now the adventure of trusting God begins :) If y'all think about it, would you pray for a coworker who's house burned down on Saturday? It appears the fire may have been started by someone tossing a cigarette out of a car, and it burned down 3 homes, including hers. Her home backs up against the freeway, and it's the grass by the freeway that initially caught fire and led to the loss of the homes. Her name is Chris.

Kimmy, praying that God will provide...I know He will! I also said a prayer for your friend. How devastating to lose your home

Congrats and prayers both Kimberly. Sorry to hear about your co workers home. Every time I hear about something in Cali I always wonder how far it is from you. All they talked about last week was the lightning starting fires out there, course it could be because we are getting pop up t storms here a lot. Take it from someone who's 'walking through' the trusting God part now. Its scarey but God is good.

We don't have fires in the immediate area, but we're totally covered by smoke. It's awful. This news video shows how bad it is in our area. It's supposed to get better this weekend, and that's not soon enough for me! The coworker who lost her home is in good spirits according to reports of those who are in touch with her. She and her husband are staying with his parents for the time being. At work they're taking $25 donations for dress down for July and will be giving her the money on a Visa gift card. I did donate $25 even though I won't be there for July :) Actually, this coworker isn't a friend, she's one that I've had struggles about in the past because she dislikes me and has been rude to me when she's not actively ignoring me. I figure that my personality rubs her the wrong way, we can't be friend with everyone...bummer :P Anyway, I wanted to help her regardless of that, so I did :) Bill, now I have that song running through my head!!!! At least it's a better song than "It's a Small World" :D Catherine, it sounds like you're having fun with the kittens :) I'd like to try and foster someday. Today is my last day at this job! I felt very peaceful on Monday after turning in my notice, and I still feel that. I'm going to miss some of my coworkers, and I've been pleasantly surprised by how many want to keep in touch! I'm going to have to be disciplined with regular emails. I have my desk completely cleaned out of nearly all personal items, so I'll only have one box to take home at the end of the day. They're having pizza for me and the other examiner who also resigned a few days before me. I anticipate a slow work day, and I hope they let me leave early. I've been invited to a candle party by a friend from church that takes place after work this evening, and I'm looking forward to attending :) Andrew is officially permanent at his job as of July 1st! Woohoo!!!! And today they're having a potluck at his office, so I need to go help him cut up squash from our garden. Have a wonderful day, y'all!

WOW Kimberly, leaving your job, that is a big step! That reminds me of the job that I had left 6 ago now. I had both a lot of peace and the blessing of my church to leave there to boot! quote:

I hope you can find something that you're much happier at working at soon.

The smoke began clearing out on Saturday, and now it's almost completely gone. It's great! I've been enjoying not being employed (I'm avoiding saying not working, because I am working ) and am getting some stuff done around the house. Today I picked some blackberries from the backyard (yep, they're bursting out all over again!) and made some blackberry pecan whole grain muffins and some cinnamon peach ginger whole grain muffins. Andrew will be bringing most of them to work tomorrow. Tonight I'm working on my resume and will be uploading it to a couple of temp agency sites tomorrow and making appointments for next week. Andrew and I will be in Reno on Saturday for his cousin's wedding. I need to see if Catherine wants to try and meet up for a bit while we're up there. The wedding is at 330pm, so we'll have time to meet.
