I'm glad you're enjoying your job too, Kimberly. Did you and Andrew get to go out to Fresh Choice for dinner?

Shar-Mar, it's very nice to have a job that I enjoy. The days go by so fast! I start at 730, take my first break around 11, go to lunch between 1-130, then another break, then home at 430. I love being able to take such a late lunch! It makes my day just fly by. It also helps that I can listen to my MP3 player all day. I download talk radio on iTunes (except for Dr. Laura, she has another way of downloading). I listen to Dr. Laura, Dennis Prager, Hugh Hewitt, and Focus on the Family and Family Life today broadcasts. Trish, we did go to Fresh Choice and it was yummy :D

I do have to try this recipe I found at traderjoesfan.com: Pumpkin Apple Praline Brownies Nothing says fall like pumpkin and fresh apples! No one will believe you whipped up this rich, moist and chewy treat in only 10 minutes. It's perfect for that Thanksgiving brunch. PUMPKIN APPLE PRALINE BROWNIES 2 large eggs 1/3 cup melted butter 2/3 cup skim milk 1/2 teaspoon Trader Joe's Pumpkin Pie Spice 2 medium Fuji or Gala apples, shredded 1 full package Trader Joes's Pumpkin Bread and Muffin Mix 1/2 cup currants 1 cup Trader Joe's Pecan Pralines, chopped Trader Joe's Italian Vanilla Gelato 1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease a 9X13 inch baking pan with spray oil. 2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk egg, milk, melted butter, and pumpkin pie spice together until well blended. Stir in apples. Then fold in bread mix and currants, stirring gently until just combined. 3. Spread batter in pan, filling corners and leveling top. Sprinkle chopped Pecan Pralines evenly over top of batter. Bake 35-39 minutes until golden brown, center is firm, and toothpick comes out clean. Serve warm with a scoop of Trader Joe's Italian Vanilla Gelato. Yield: 18 3"X 2" squares

Trader Joes is way cool :P Well, Marcia finally found a place to live! On Thursday morning as I was leaving for work I noticed that an apartment next door was available and I left her a voice mail about it. She applied, and was approved on Friday, and she's moving in on the 30th :) I'm happy she's finally found a place and in this neighborhood, too. Andrew and I did take light rail up to Folsom yesterday, and we strolled through old town and walked to the Folsom Zoo, about 20-25 minutes from old town. The zoo was neat, with mostly native animals and a few exotics. We lunched in old town Folsom at Balcony Bistro, and were able to sit outside on the balcony and enjoy a view of the antique shops. We browsed the antique shops, and there was so much to look at that we were overwhelmed by it all. We did take some photos that I'll get around to uploading eventually. For the next 3 or 4 weeks my focus needs to be on going through my home and getting rid of stuff and getting organized. I'd mentioned in karlie's thread that I'll be using the Mount Vernon method from messies.com, and I want to get rid of at least 1/3 of all this stuff and sell it at a yard sale in mid-to-late september. Marcia wants to sell some stuff, too, and I'm going to let friends and family know about it so they can bring stuff to sell as well.

I'll get around to getting organised one of these days. Not sure when. I just know that it won't be now. Just a few things going on for me right now. Kimmie, did you know that I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 6 days ago?

Thats good about Marcia finding a place Kimberly! Also, Sacramento has a light rail also? This seems to be the transportation wave of the future with Houston, Phoenix and a few other places having one as well. Your welcome Trish!

Hi Trish and Mike :) Andrew worked all day yesterday, and he'll likely be working most of tomorrow as well :( The overtime pay will be nice, but I'll miss having him around on the holiday. I'll be doing some things around the house. I need to go through as much stuff as I can and get rid of at least 1/3 if not 1/2 of some of it and have a yard sale the last Saturday in September. That'll keep me busy for quite some time over the next 4 weeks! Yep, we have light rail, Mike. It's a decent system along with the bus system, but I don't use it often because it takes way too long to get to places than driving does. For example, to get to where I used to work, it would take almost 90 minutes to get there, and about the same to get home, when driving would only take 30 minutes each way. I'd rather spend the money on gas and save the time. You can get to almost anyplace in Sacramento with it, though. I've been keeping in touch with friends from where I used to work, and it's really bad there. They've had more layoffs and have introduced cost-cutting measures, including leaving 1/2 the lights off all day and no longer providing coffee, tea, hot chocolate, utensils or paper plates. Management had promised no layoffs in August, but then laid off some people on Friday, the last day of August. Morale there is awful, and everyone is afraid they're next to be let go. Riley has a ferocious sweet tooth!!! I have some Lofthouse soft sugar cookies with frosting, and he was just trying to get into the package. I gave him a small piece and he gobbled it right up! I've never had a cat like that type of food before. Once when I'd left a package of apple cinnamon donuts from Apple Hill on the counter, he clawed the plastic wrap off a corner and ate about 1/4 of one of the donuts and chewed the edges of a couple of others!!! He also loves marshmallows. I don't let him have sugar very often, though. Here's a really fun video! It's the smartest bird in the world :)

What a good thing you left that old job when you did! Wow! I'm glad you're not there anymore. My computer is temperamental about videos and isn't playing any today for some reason.

Hi Kimberly, yes thats good that you are no longer at your old job too! I do not know what employers think sometimes. Usually when they revert to those type of measures, they are within a year or less going out of business! Also, thanks for the light rail link too, too bad that it is not more convenient at all.

I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Shar-Mar :) I thought it was great! It did make me laugh :) Where I used to work was very discouraging when I was there, and it's worse now. It's sad. I'm also very thankful I'm not there for all of this. Catherine, it's funny how Riley likes sugar. I know it's not good for him, so I try not to give him much at all. Maggie, I hope you can see the video at some point. It's a parrot (an African Gray, I believe) that is very well trained. Mike, I would be very surprised if my former company was still in business at the end of this year. Wow, Bill...that's awful! That would have been a very stressful work environment to be sure. I'm watching the RNC off and on, and am pretty happy with the selection of Sarah Palin for VP. I'm not a huge McCain fan, but he's a much safer choice than Obama. I've been working on setting up a new blog (I lost enthusiasm for the old one) and ran across this site when searching for some inspiration. Neat!!!

Hey Kimmy! I'm getting my convention coverage from HERE, since I don't have cable. It's one of the Northern Alliance guys who also works for Hot Air. There's also talk of a delegate being hit with a brick by one of the "peace" protesters. It hasn't been verified though.

Yea...sometimes it comes down to the less of two evils I like what I have read and heard about Palin so far and think she'll be a voice for family values. I hope the news about her daughter doesn't become an issue and people don't start using that to attack her.

Did you hear the first story about Sarah Palin faking her last pregnancy to cover up for her daughter's pregnancy? That story actually made mainstream press, which is why they had to come out to say the daughter is now pregnant.

I had read that. I hope they let it go, although I doubt it. They'll use it to attack her values. Like kids from families with values never make a wrong choice
