Can't be Gibbs. Harmon is the core of the show. When they lost him for a few epis last season the ratings went WAYYYYYYY down. If they lose him they lose the whole show.

I agree. I wouldn't watch anymore. Same thing happened when they lost the last original cast member on ER, I stopped watching. I didn't like the new cast members.

Well if it's Jenny then the major impact could be who replaces her.

It could be Gibbs and then who replaces him? If it's Tony who replaces Gibbs, then who will replace Tony?

snowball affect could be interesting...

I just can't see Gibbs being director. But if that one guy who is the assistant director comes back maybe they could do something with that.

me either...esp since that job requires "politics" that he doesn't care to get involved with most times. It's just not a good fit for the personality of his character.

that's so true, I forgot about that!

My husband insists we record everything so we can fast forward through commericals.

Hopefully Global's web site will have them (the Canadian network that carries them). We in Canada can't watch eppys off US network websites - they're blocked for our Canadian IP addresses, I think.

We should be OK. If worse comes to worst, we'll be illegal and BitTorrent the episode (download it and watch it from our 'puter).

Well, tonight is the night! Who get's killed off? All guesses must be posted by 8:00pm EDT.

I am guessing it will either be Gibbs or Jenny since the word is that the death will have a major impact on the team. I'm hoping it is Jenny because I have never liked that character but Mark Harmon does have a history of quitting successful shows (St. Elsewhere, Chicago Hope, etc.).

Who is producing this show now? They dumped Belasario at the beginning of the season but I still see his name on the credits.

?????

My guess is Denozo. He has been an assistant team leader for the last couple of seasons.

I would like it to be Jenny but for that reason it is probably not her.

Killing Gibbs = no more NCIS.

What if it is Ducky or Abby???

Some speculations:
- Jenny would be of least impact, since there have been fill-ins in the position before.
- Ducky would mean that Palmer would most likely take over with autopsies.
- There's no one who could really replace Abby, unless they put McGee in there for the intermission. (He's helped her on several occasions, but never done as much as she.)
- McGee would shift the dynamics somewhat and maybe open the door for the germaphobe (can't remember her name at the moment).
- Tony would make the most impact, since he has been there the longest. He has already survived the loss of one partner. Would they have him go through that again?
- Ziva would be another impact. She's really become a solid member of the team over the past two seasons, replacing Kate rather well.
- Gibbs would make the most impact. He has left the team once before, but came back. He's the glue that really holds this team together.

Those are my thoughts. I'm waiting to see who it turns out to be. Lots of guesses, but I'll just wait it out (probably biting my nails).

My guess is McGee. The reasoning behind this is because on the previews, I never saw McGee....but did see all the other team members. And someone said to Gibbs (in the preview), "He's dead!"

The characters they could kill that would prevent me from watching as often as I do...

Gibbs
Dinozo
McGeek, McGoo...whatever
Abby
Ducky

If any of them goes...I would probably watch, but not be as consistent or care as much for sure.

If I was a CBS executive, I wouldn't kill off Gibbs, or even make it appear he's dead. Here's why. Last night on CSI Miami spoiler ahead (drop down for the rest)

end spoiler right at the end of the episode, Horatio got seriously popped by an assassin. And from the way he kicked and flailed, and then went still and staring, it sure looks like he's toast. So if they do the same thing to Gibbs, or even attempt to show him dead as well, CBS won't have anyone but themselves to blame if their ratings drop off on other key shows. Because the viewing public will say, in effect, "why should I get emotionally involved in Character X from Show Y? They'll probably just kill him off anyway."

My opinion, of course.

Your reasoning is rather sound, John. In fact, it's very akin to what I've had rumbling around in the cavern of my mind. I know that if they kill off Jethro, I'm tuning out. Abby and Tony are the same as Gibbs, but if it's Ziva, Jenny, Ducky, Palmer, or McGee, I'll come back in the Fall to watch. In regards to your CSI:Miami spoiler: I, too, was floored to see that one happen. I also was surprised at who it was that got the notification . . . unless it was another ruse. Oh well! More "water cooler fodder" for the next several months!

The plot synopsis of the finale that was released a few weeks back has tonights episode starting off with the murder a former NCIS associate of Gibbs. That is probably where the "He's dead" comes from. Also, on the preview, Leon tells Gibbs that more will probably die.

I was just thinking, it could be Ducky that gets killed off. David McCallum will be 75 years old in September. The grind of doing a weekly series can't be easy on him at his age. And, he's been in every episode, plus the two-part pilot episode on JAG.

He sure doesn't look seventy-five. As a teenage girl my wife had a major crush on him back in his Illya Kuryakin days on The Man From UNCLE.

He's 75!?

Wow, no kidding...he looks awesome.

And I had a terrible crush on him back when he was one of the men from U.N.C.L.E.
