Ooooh Christine! I just read your siggy! I'm so glad you found a new home for her. I hope they love on her really good.

Thank you Sharon. I hope so too. She went to a home to catch mice. It wasn't an ideal home, but I think she'll be happy getting to hunt and play all day.

Guess who we have staying at our house now?

Foster kittens!

They are from the Humane Society where we adopted Princess and Ami from.

I will have them for a couple weeks while they gain weight to be over two pounds so they can be desexed and go to a permanent home.

I got three grey girl kitties.
The Humane Society named them Eileen, Elaine, and Ellen or something like that. Too hard to remember.
Matt remaned them Midnight, Gandolf, and Mittens. Ha. I think we will keep his names while they live with us.

I will try and post pics of them when I get home.

Princess absoletely hates cats. She has a cow every time she knows we are looking at the kittens or playing with the kittens or thinking about the kittens.

Here are some pics:

Midnight
Midnight doesn't like the dogs. Ami does not bark at the cats but Midnight still does not like her.
Midnight does not like the camera

Granny (formerly known as Gandalf)
Granny does not seem to be so fond of humans. She also likes to hide between the couch and the wall

Mittens
Mittens is the escape artist cat. If I open the crate for even a second she tries to get out.
Mittens does not hold still for photos

LOL Catherine! When did fostering kitties come up???

They sure are cute! I had to laugh a little about the yoyo. That's kinda big and heavy isn't it? That thing gets to swinging and hits one of them in the head, it could rattle their brains a little.

Awwww, how fun!!!! I'd love to do that someday :) Mittens and Granny both look like they're blue tabbies, like Riley. Blue tabbies are my favorite type of cat.

Enjoy their kitten cuteness! I love everything about kittens >^..^<

They are just so cute! I was going to say I thought Midnight was the cutest but they are all just precious.

Buffy hates one of our cats, Lucy the white one. If we pet Lucy Buffy comes running and even sort of half lunges and barks at her to get away. I've gotten on her case but it doesn't help when the kids think it's funny and encourage her.

Well, I have been in the Humane Society volunteer list for a few months now, but have not yet done anything to help them. This weekend they sent out an email to their volunteer list saying "Foster Homes Desperately Needed for Kittens" and I thought, "I could do that." I asked Matt about it and he said I could as long as I knew that we were going to be giving them back.

Funny for as much as Matt is always saying "cats are evil," he sure did spend a lot of time with the kittens last night.

The yoyo was a temporary toy Matt decided to hang there since our house has no other baby animal toys. Now they have some tiny catnip mice hanging in their cage instead.

I think the center of her eyes are blue, but the outside part is the same light brown as her sisters.

I did not know grey cats could be considered blue.

Midnight seems to like to be held and petted the most. So far she is the only one I have heard purrrrrr.

Thanks for all your posts! :) It is so weird for me to be feeding creatures from the tiniest size food bowl. I remember once upon a time Princess also had the tiniest size food bowl, but I still can hardly picture her so small.

Is there anything I can do about the kittens' nails? They are so sharp that they are getting stuck on everything, including on the carpet over and over again with each step they take.

sure, you can trim them back. Watch out for the vein though, I don't know if you can see it in your doggie's nails.

Hold kitty to your body facing out and pick up a paw. Squeeze it gently and her nails will come out, I just trim our kitties with human nail clippers.

Or if they are comfortable with you they can be right in front of you and you could pick up a paw and gently squeeze it, and the claws will come out.

I'm hurt today. Very hurt and speechless.

I had a blog years ago (I'm sure y'all remember). I haven't posted in it since 2006. I had it set to email me the comments made on it. Well, this morning I opened my email and there was a comment on my blog (weird since I haven't posted since 2006). The comment was very very very very hurtful and a very cheap shot at a mistake I made long ago. I don't know who made the comment. Part of me wishes I knew, part of me is glad that I don't. But my brain is going through all the people I know and wondering who would make it. I have a suspicion based on the style of writing and how the comment was phrased. But I can't prove anything, nor would any good come from knowing.

I just have to put it out of my head.

{{{{{Christine}}}}} - sorry that happened to you. :(

~~~~~~~~~~~~~`
Thanks for the nail trimming tips, Kath. I trimmed all of the kitten's nails today. I did it conservatively though and did not go all the way back to the quick. They did not mind having their front feet trimmed, but then kept trying to squirm away when I did their back feet.
These kittens have really gotten active in the last day. Their favorite place to go seems to be under the dining room table. They also like to crawl behind the entertainment center and the couch, but I have those blocked off now. Even Granny has broken out of her shell and will now chase around a toy and today she even purrred for me.
Having a squirt bottle has come in handy. I squirt the dogs for barking at the cats. I am about to start squirting the cats for trying to claw the couch. I guess I should go buy them a scratching post.
Hind paws don't need to be trimmed as often, if ever really. They are used in climbing, so they should be kept a little longer.
If you can train a kitten to sit well for things like nail trimming, teeth cleaning, brushing, etc, they will respond much better as a cat.
Yah, when we went to puppy training class with Princess we would take the time to touch all over our dog including mouth, ears, tail, paws. Since we did not have Ami has a baby puppy like we did Princess, Ami does not tollerate being touched as well as Princess does.
It is now June 25 and today I finally put all my sweaters and long sleeved shirts away. May was not very warm this year, and then the first week of June we were in Florida, and then since we have been back from Florida I have not had the energy to do much of anything. So finally I packed up my winter clothes in two big storage bins and put them on top of the closets and I have all my summer clothes (that haven't yet been unpacked) in the wash to get the wrinkles out of them (I do not own an iron nor do I care to).
We got Direct TV today. I am so sick of Charter raising our bill all the time that we cancelled it. We have a 12 month special with Direct TV, and Matt is finding some kind of DSL to sign us up for. In the mean time we are using a Clear Wire Internet box Matt borrowed from his work. Clear Wire is not the fastest, but it is OK. I had to get up at 9:15 for the Direct TV installer, so I think that is why I have been doing more stuff today: because I already had my quota of chill time before noon.
In San Fran when my work switched from channels people could pick up with their antenna to channels they could only pick up with an actual Comcast subscription, we had a lot of people call in and complain because they really hate Comcast and did not want to have to get it to see us.
Do you ever watch the home shopping channels?
I watch the home shopping channels way too much.....are you allowed to say which one you work for? I think I remember you saying it was a jewelry one, right? Is it just jewelry?
I hate home shopping channels.
But I love jewelry. so if you ever want to get me something from work, I'd be very gracious in receiving it.
My aunt LOVES home shopping. At one point when she was a SAHM, that's all she did.
I have directv now, so if you can only get you with comcast, I bet I dont' get you anymore. If that's the case, I think I know which channel you are.
No, we are on more networks than just Comcast, but I was just telling you about our San Fran area drama since you live over there.
We sell just jewelry, yes.
It is interesting how working there was made me take an interest in jewlery... before I barely cared about the stuff.
I also remember seeing home shopping networks when I was a child and thinking, "Who watches these?" Ha, and now I work for one.
About that blog comment, Christine, the first thing that comes to my mind is Eric. Could he have done it out of anger and revenge?
