About that blog comment, Christine, the first thing that comes to my mind is Eric. Could he have done it out of anger and revenge?

That was my first thought. I asked him (and it took a lot of restraint to ask and not accuse). He said he didn't even remember that my blog was up. He has no idea who it was or who it could be.

I think I'm going to save my blog to my harddrive and then delete it from the internet.

Hind paws don't need to be trimmed as often, if ever really. They are used in climbing, so they should be kept a little longer.

I was going to say pretty much the same thing. We only trim back feet like 1 out of 5 front trims. They don't grow as fast I think. But with new kittens and with their claws being so long as to snag the carpet I'm sure the back needed a trim too.

A scratching post is a very good idea. They can't help but scratch so providing the right thing for them will help them a lot. My kitties all really love the cardboard ones! They also like the little tiny mice that rattle as opposed to the ones that don't. They were something along this line.

This is truly their favorite toy. Sometimes when one of the kitties is playing with it Baxter (the biggest cat) will run over an lay on it so they can't play with the ball. It's very amusing. This toy was a complete waste of money.

We got Direct TV today.

I love my Directv. My BIL got Dish and I don't like it as well, I didn't think they had the programming selection that Directv has. Did you get Tivo? I don't know how much a month extra it is but for us it's only 7 bucks extra. Well worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for the cat advice.
I went and bought a scratching post at Wal*Mart tonight that has a ball with a spring on the top.
That one with the ball that goes around it looks interesting. so far the cats won't really play with the cat balls I bought.

Instead of Tivo Matt set something up on our Windows Vista computer that records TV and then we can watch it on the Xbox 360. He also has a commerical remover on there too, so we usually don't see any commercials.

There are 12:01 AM showing of the movie WALL-E. We will probably go if they will let me off work early since Matt took off tomorrow morning from work. It is quite slow today so I don't see getting off early to be a problem.

Why are my kitties growing up so fast? Just Monday they were scared little kittens who did not want to come out of their cage. Now it is the early hours of Friday and Mittens has discovered she has the ability to climb and jump and walk on top of things. She loves getting the coffee table and back of the couch. Then just now she jumped on top of the subwoofer and knocked over the ClearWire Reciever (gur). They have tried to climb up the exercise thing but have not yet done that successfully. I bought a mini scale tonight so I could weigh them, but have not done that yet.

I wish the dogs would stop whining at the cats. I tried to let them meet each other but Ami seemed like she was about to kill a kitten so I won't let them out together again. I do not want to explain to the Humane Society that my psyco dog killed one of their poor kittens.

We did go and see the 12:01 AM showing of WALL-E. It was an interesting movie. The girl sitting next to me kept saying "awwww" every time something was sad or happy or cute. Oy.

The co-worker who took my cat told me yesterday that there was a show-down between Zoe and his dog (I didn't know they had a dog). It was Zoe's first time meeting the dog. Well, Zoe (a tiny cat) stared down the dog and stood her ground. The dog put his tail down and walked away. LOLOLOLOL!!! She's home and she's claimed her territory and won't let anyone take it away.

But if it's not connected to blogger anymore, there won't be any more hurtful comments made coming back to me. Of course, I could just turn comments off.

Cat Owner Question:

How often do you dump all the liter and fill up the tray with fresh stuff?

Well, tonight I finally went and exchanged my dial scale for a small digital scale to weigh the kittens. The results are.

Mittens: 2 pounds 2 ounces
Midnight: 2 pounds 2 ounces
Granny: 1 pound 15 ounces

So I guess I will keep them for another week and wait for Granny to gain a few more ounces.

When I had Misty, I would use a cat litter scoop and scoop out all the clumped litter at least once and sometimes twice each day.

I would add new litter as needed - a couple times throughout the week.

Not often enough, since it's a job I'm not allowed to do right now. At least once a week, Brian does a complete change. I'd do it twice a week if it were me.

Cats have all the great outdoors to do their poop in.

As it should be.

Um...yeah...and then they bring in fleas. I'd rather deal with poop, or even better...have Brian deal with it.

Bring IN fleas?

You're not supposed to let them in the house! Cats were created to be outside animals. The world is their litter box.

Um, no. Kitties belong in the house, especially close by.

Donna, I meant to give you 5 stars, not 3.

Not very often. I will scoop the clumps daily but a complete change, not too often. Every few weeks. I let the box get pretty low on litter before that so I didn't waste too much. I can't say it ever smelled, and I really am concerned about that. I've been past houses where you could smell cat box clear out on the street.

Those are the homes where they do it right and the cats do their business outdoors.

Me thinks Kath might be sniffing too much kitty in the litter box....

Catherine --- are you using clumping litter or clay litter??? With clay litter, do a complete change every week. With clumping litter, I'd say 3-4 weeks is sufficient.

Clean them out daily, if not more often.

Do you have more than one litter box?? If you only have one, clean it out frequently since you have multiple cats.

I have found that one of the few good things about living in Reno is that fleas do not live at this elevation. I am blessed to not know anything about fleas or how to deal with them.

I am not sure what kind of litter I have.

I only have one litter box in the cat's crate. I don't really see the need for more.

Happy Friday, everyone! Even though I wish I didn't have to go to work today, at least tomorrow and the next day I get to stay home.

Many people recommend having more than one litter box for multiple cats. Some cats are picky about their litter and will only go if it's theirs only or if there is something in the box already.

We use clay litter (I hate the idea of scooping...eeewwwwww) and it gets changed about every 2-3 days. We buy the cheap clay litter from Walmart and we have one litterbox for both cats. Of course they get to go outside whenever one of us is home, and I think they do some of their business out there. Usually they come inside to use the litterbox, which I find very amusing :P

We have one litter box for three kitties. Thankfully they have never had issues but I've heard some cats do. Catherine, I'd think (though this is just speculation) since all of them are so small that they won't have issues using the same box either. I'd think if they were going to have issues they'd have shown that already.

yep, every cat is different. Blossom demands a fairly clean litterbox, if it's too messy for her taste, she'll pee on anything that's on the floor...paper, plastic bags, clothing...it's certainly keeping us motivated to keep the box up to Princess Lotus Blossom's standards :D

I don't get mad at her when she does that, I get upset with myself. I know she prefers a clean box, and really, who can blame her? If you were a cat and had to use a litterbox, wouldn't you want it to be clean?

I think Kath is right, though...with them being so small, I don't think the box will get too messy quickly...smaller waste, if you know what I mean.
