I've never heard of that either.

R.I.P. Ami

March 2006 - October 7, 2008

Tonight Ami went to doggy heaven.

When we got home from work tonight Ami was not in good shape. We decided it would be best if we let her go.

So now she is burried at Matt's parents house beside the other two dogs they have had that have past on.

Oh Catherine. I'm so sorry to hear that. That can't be easy. Especially since she was so young.

What a hard decision to make. I'm glad that she is no longer suffering.

How are you all doing? Is Princess lonely?

Thank you all for your condolances. It has been a hard day.

I think Princess is lonely. When I looked outside to see what she was doing before I left for work she was just sitting near the door. And when Matt got home from work she was... sitting by the door. Tonight when she has been inside she has spent the whole time lying by us. So sad.

I am getting by. I cannot verbally talk about Ami or it makes me cry. I sent my favorite coworker a text to tell her about Ami and instead of replying to the text she called me. I got the call right when I got to the appraisal office, so I took the phone call in the break room. So I started crying then. And so I figured while I was already crying I would tell my boss what happened.
Then when I got to the call center and told one of my other coworkers about Ami I barely got through it.

You want to know what kills me the most? Ami loved us sooooooo much that she wanted us to know she was happy to see us.
She sustained her injuries yesterday outside. After Matt discovered this, she made her way into the house, and was wagging her tail a bit as she made her way up the steps. Once she got inside Matt and I sat on the floor with her and she layed down. It didn't seem like she had any desire to get up after that, as we tried calling to her and encouraging her to get up and she didn't budge. We put one of the crates in the car and Matt carried her out there. He had to load her in head first since that was how she was being carried. When we got to Matt's parents house we went inside for a short while then came back out. I went to the back of the Jeep and Ami had managed to turn herself around while we were in the house. And when I opened the crate door I heard her tail thump twice because she was glad to see me. Even though she was in so much pain she managed to get the energy to wag her tail and let me know she was glad to see me. I think I will never forget that.

I wish I would have thought to give Ami some pain medicine as we drove out to his parents' house. It is not exactly the smoothest drive going out to the middle of nowhere.

Why did this have to happen to my dog? Ami was the best dog in the whole world. She loved everyone. She always wanted us to protect us. When we wouldn't let her follow us into the bedroom she would lay in front of the door and wait for us to come back out. When we first met Ami at the pound she put her whole body in to her tail wagging jubilee, like she wished there was a way for her to be even happier. She was still happy to see us whenever was returned from being out. We called her slobber mutt because whenever she would get a drink it would get all her chin hair wet and then she would like to lay her head on our lap and get us wet. And whenever we left home without her she would cry because she wasn't going with us. It is kinda funny that Ami didn't really like car rides, but yet she didn't want to be without us. I wish she was still here with us and 100% healthy.

Catherine can you tell me what happened? What kind of injuries and how? If not, that's totally fine. Don't worry.

We are going to order a marker to go where Ami is burried. I am leaning toward ordering from this site: http://www.imagesonmarble.com/index.html I like all of the pictures that they have posted.

Tonight I have to do another sad thing... get out my winter wardrobe ;)

Tonight I got several emails from Douglas' friend. Douglas' commander sent them out and then Douglas forwarded them to his friend who forwarded them to me. Why he couldn't just forward me the emails himself I do not know. The commander said that people could email/call/write him any time, so I sent the commander an email asking him to add to me to email list. Do you think that is OK? I do not want the Army to be angry at me. ;)

So Douglas' graduation is going to be the day before USA Thanksgiving, aka Wednesday. On Tuesday is Family Day, and Thursday it said that we could eat lunch with the soldiers.

So to be there Tuesday morning means we will need to leave Reno on Monday. And since I would like to be there Thursday, that means I will be gone all of Thanksgiving week. Yah. The call center is going to love that. I hope that Matt can get it off work and not too many people have already requested that time off.

I called the airline to ask about chaning my plane tickets. If you change a ticket it is $150 PER TICKET plus the excess if the flight you want cost more than the flight you originally booked. If you cancel the ticket, the issue you a credit for the cost of the fare, then when you rebook they still charge you $150 per ticket. Are you kidding me?!!? I asked if they ever made any exceptions to the fee, and they said no. Wow. Here is my advice: do not use US Airways unless you are absoltely positively sure you won't want or need to change your travel dates. Wow. I think I will go back to being a Southwest customer now.

that's fairly standard pricing for flight changes. It cost me $200 to change my flight in July when I missed mine. And the change in price was lots since it was last minute.

I like the grave marker. I think that will be very nice in the yard.

Really? What airline did you fly on? I am just so used to Southwest where they don't charge you anything to change your flight besides the excess if the new flight is more expensive. Because of this $150 fee, Matt is thinking about not going now.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Douglas' commander emailed me back and said that he added me to his distribution list. Yay! He has been sending out pictures, so I am hoping maybe I can catch a glimpse of Douglas in one of them.
That couldn't have been Catherine!
Catherine, I'm so sorry about your loss. {{{{{{{{Catherine}}}}}}}}}
Ds2 flew Air Canada to Germany and while there, decided to change his return time. It cost him $100 with no extra charges if the flight cost rose (and no price decrease if they fell, which they did).
Or because it is October.
It's 70s today, but I expect within the next two weeks, we'll see the first snowflakes fly here too.
