Goodness, I wish I had some plums!! I miss my plum jelly I made last year.

I made pear honey (my recipe had suger, ground lemons, and pears) one year. it was WAY TOO sweet for us but was okay if you used just a little and overall had a good taste. We put it on biscuits. But my hubby said he thought it was too thin--he likes stuff to sit atop his biscuit, not running all over the place (I explained that this was a "honey" recipe). So, next time I make it, I'll decrease the sugar significantly and leave the pears more chunky. Or maybe I'll just make pear preserves instead.

LOVE the sheet idea!

I'm going to a friend's house next week to help her put up pears. She's never done it before and they have a pear tree that is ready for harvest. Should be fun!

My sister made some salsa using Mrs. Wages salsa mix (see website), and it was pretty good considering how easy it was. You just add it to tomatoes, either fresh or canned, then use, freeze, or can it.

Salsa is easy--
Paste tomatoes
Onions
green peppers
med hot peppers
sweet peppers
halapeno peppers
any other pepper you wish (the more varity the better)
Salantro
itialian seasoning
salt ,pepper
lime juice

Last time I used 1 bushel tomatoes, dipped in boiling water, then remove the skind, dice and put in strainer over bowl so the juice drains out a bit ( for thicker salsa)--6 large onions, at least
8-10 peppers--you should add the hot peppers to taste--for this amount I only add 4 halapeno peppers but I add them seeds and all---2 heapping TLB of seasoning, salt AND PEPPER, and squeeze 3 limes, 3 bunches (about 2-3 cups) chopped fresh salantro, mix and enjoy some then can--a friend and I made 68 pints a week ago----yummy

Well, it's not a recipe but...

I helped a friend can 18 quarts of pears Friday! She had most of them peeled, cored, quartered, and in jars by the time I got there though. She also made two batches (one "normal" and one "large") of pear preserves.

I made pear pie filling in the crockpot last night! I'm not sure you could can it but I'm going to try freezing it. It worked really well!

I think I'll start another thread just so we have a place to chat about these subjects instead of getting off topic. I'll call it Garden and Canning/Freezing Experiences. See you there. :D
