ORIGINAL: TonyRush MTTFan, are you talking about a specific instance? I'm referring to the "SGM screaming tenor" in general. But, if you're looking for an example, listen to "When He Calls I'll Fly Away" on GC's 20th Anniversary Celebration CD. I can think of no defintion of "quality" or "pitch" that refers to what Jay is doing on those endings. The encore ending is even worse. Again, just my opinion! Tony Rush He was on when he sang that note in When he calls I'll Fly Away.. Which one? He hit about a dozen or so while he was trying to find where he wanted to land! LOL Call it a personal preference. I see no point in a tenor singer trying to hit every note in his upper range while putting an ending on a song. In fact, I suspect if you heard a tenor in a local group do that, you'd probably think that someone needs to take him aside and teach him something about harmony and quality. But, because, it's GC, it's cool. Tony Well, secular music has their "cool" things too. Like busting up a guitar at the end of a concert. I'd freak if Glen Allred started doing that!
