Janine --- yes, I have NO external mucus until AFTER my temp spikes and my internal mucus is either really infertile or non-existent. If I went solely by my external mucus I'd be very wrong in my guess of my fertility.

Good Morning! I'm Super excited! I'm starting to really understand the boards and I have you to thank for that. [sm=icon_smile_kisses.gif]

Ya know, I'm willing to bet that isn't 'abnormal'. I'm sure that's partially why they stress the internal checking even more then the external. It always produces better results.

Hm. I wonder if there is a vitamin deficiency issue? I can give you my NFP person's email addy and you can email and ask her. They are great, patient, and super helpful. I bet they may have a suggestion or two. Just let me know.

I have some people here I could e-mail. I'll look through my NFP books to see if they know anything. I'm just not even relying on my external mucus at all. I can almost go solely by internal mucus now, but I still do teh temp cross check because it's more objective.

This sounds so interesting. I'm thinking a/b giving this NFP a try. But we did have a little "oppsy" (it's my fault [sm=crazy.gif]) a couple wks ago and I just cant get it out of my mind so I'm going to have to buy a preg test. We just had our 2nd baby 7wks ago, so I really hope I'm not again. I'm praying actually....but if I am then, looks like we'll be having another little blessing on the way. If I am I know we'll be a little freaked out at first but we'll get over that, of course. so we'll see. I know The Lord knows my heart and I know He'll never give us more than we can bear. But anyway I do want to try NFP [:)]

blessings - Are you breastfeeding?

From what little I know in this area; I've heard your chances are pretty slim to null - Especially if you are breastfeeding 90 percent or more.

Yes, I am strictly breastfeeding, but I've already resumed my period. (it was actually a weird period, little bleeding for a/b 4days) and during that 'period' is when dh and I had sex. So I dont know......I'll feel better (......or will I???[sm=icon_smile_faint.gif] ), once I take that test....[sm=eek.gif][sm=blush.gif][sm=unsure.gif][sm=icon_smile_blush.gif][:)]

3toraiseup, you can do free online charting on http://www.fertilityfriend.com
You can sign up for the free membership and have basic options or do the VIP membership for a fee. It's nice because you can chart on any computer (web based) and I like that the computer pinpoints ovulation for you.

You can also download blank charts here:

http://cycledaily.com/download.htm

Blessings - I am clueless in that department, but I know there are others in this thread that know ALLLLL about that. I hope they see this and post to you soon. Just know that, from what I've heard, you should be fine - especially if you are breastfeeding 90% of the time or more.

Hugs to you. :)

Jae

I'm curious about HOW the ladies here chart. I do mine on pencil and paper, and the chart I use is from ccli. Anyone have a different chart, or chart online? I'm interested in the fertilityfriend charting online, because I think it marks when you are supposed to be fertile.

christsstar -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/21/2005 12:33:48 AM)

I use pencil and pen. I made my own chart based on the chart in The Art of NFP.

anne-girl -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/21/2005 9:51:55 AM)

Charting is supposed to start the first day of your period right? For those of you who spot, do you start on the first day of spotting or the first day of flow? [sm=icon_smile_blush.gif]

PrincessDonna -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/21/2005 10:08:46 AM)

I'm glad I'm not charting yet. My body is in a state of hormonal confusion. LOL Hannah is two months old today. I keep thinking I'm going to start my period again. Tiny bit of spotting for a couple days and then nothing. Some days I've been horribly dry and need KY to have sex (I've heard this is normal when breastfeeding). Now this morning, mucous, mucous, mucous! But not the fertile kind. What the? Oh, who knows.... Someday things will go back to normal, right? RIGHT?!

first day anything shows up and requires you to wear a pad/tampon/whatever.

On the chart, you mark the days of your period with an X for a heavy flow day or a / for a light day. So if you spot before you flow, you do / for those days. But it begins day 1

Jen, great minds think alike! I was coming in here to ask that very question!

Thanks for the answer, Christine!

My next question is where do I go to buy a basal thermometer? Would they have them at a pharmacy? I remember that some of you bought yours at Amazon but we can't get anything from Amazon in Canada except books, CDs, movies, etc.

christsstar -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/21/2005 3:32:39 PM)

I got mine at Rite-Aid. Walgreen's would probably have them, or any pharmacy. They're with the thermometers. Make sure you get one that says basal thermometer on it.

3toraiseup -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/23/2005 2:47:33 PM)

Regarding spotting at the begining of your cycle -- you only count it as the first day if it is red bleeding. Some people have irregular shedding which is brown spotting that precedes actual menstrual flow for a few days even up to a week. If you have irregular shedding it does not count as 'Day 1', rather it is the end of your previous cycle.

3blessings: bleeding that begins in the first 50 something days following childbirth does not count as 'resumed periods'. We are in the process of moving cross country right now and I don't have time to access to my NFP book, but when I am able, I'll post more on that in a couple weeks. Meanwhile, maybe someone else will chime in.

Blessings,
Kati

Thanks Kati[sm=icon_smile_shy.gif], I didnt know that. I still havent bought a test yet, so I'm still not sure. I have been having light cramping for a couple wks now , what do you think that might mean? period coming soon? [sm=icon_smile_question.gif][sm=icon_smile_question.gif]

PrincessDonna -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/24/2005 6:49:38 AM)

3blessings, I'm having the on and off cramping also. Feels like I'm going to start my period again, and then nothing. I wish my body would decide what it's going to do and just DO IT! LOL I'm definitely irritable too. [:'(]

I did read that bleeing in the first 56 days (8 weeks) means nothing at all. You don't count it. Since I know our babies are the same age, you're just barely past that also. [:)]

anne-girl -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/24/2005 4:41:37 PM)

Anybody know if there are celcius charts available online anywhere? It seems they only sell celcius basal thermometers in Canada and I need to know whether it's worth ordering a fahrenheit one from elsewhere.

uponeagleswings -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/24/2005 6:36:58 PM)

The CCLI charts (www.ccli.org I think) have celsius on one side, and farenheit on the other. The charts are not expensive at all...I think about $3.00 for 2 years worth of charts. And they even say you could xerox them instead of buying more.

Donna, I know one day my cramps were more than usual and I thought that I really was going to start that day, but nothing happened. [sm=crazy.gif][sm=biggrin.gif] Well, hopefully I'll be sure to get a test tomorrow so I can stop wondering if I am preg again or not! :)

Tea-Tea -> RE: Natural Family Planning ---- Questions, Answers, and Support (read OP for poll question) (4/25/2005 1:50:36 PM)

Kati, Is there anything wrong if you have irregular shedding? I always wondering what that was! Thanks for the info!

Not neccessarily. There are a variety of causes... ovarian cysts, nutritional deficiencies, post-partum/breastfeeding to name a few. It isn't a neccessarily a problem and can be quite normal (as in the case of post partum periods). It depends on the cause. If someone is trying to conceive and has irregular shedding, it would be worth looking into. Also, irregular shedding might be a sign of a shortened luteal phase (phase III) which would impact your 'safe' days in NFP. (Rather than a 2 week phase III, it might only be 7-10 days). As such, it would be wise to attempt correction so that phase III would be extended.

well, I finally took a preg test and it came out neg. I thank the Lord He knows what we can handle. Of course I want more children, but praying that it'll happen in a few years. Now I guess I could give NFP a try, we are going to use condoms too though.[:)]
