I understand. I don't have many friends who are my age. Most are younger or older. Most people my age are still partying fools and I don't do that anymore.

Ditto. In fact, I've never been to a "traditional" party filled with booze, and actually didn't drink until I was legal age. I've never understood the whole thing of getting drunk. I have been drunk once, and after that experience decided NEVER AGAIN!

I think seeing some of mum's hangovers from back in the day dissuaded me from it ("people go out and come home like THAT? NO THANKS!")

About the only thing I drink in significant quantities is caffeinated drinks. I'm a little slow if I don't have a kickstart in the morning.

Cammo, you're up late. Had daylight savings ended for you yet?

I can honestly say that I used to drink several times a week, and would be drunk most of them. I drank under age. I would drink often and in copious amounts. I would drink and drive. I would do it so I wouldn't have to "deal". I would wake up in weird places or somewhere I didn't know where I was (thats really scary!). When I started drinking alone and being destructive is when I realized I had a problem. I woke up one morning and decided to never drink again. I haven't looked back.

Sorry to just blurt this out, but I somewhat feel it was necessary.

We all make mistakes (and this includes myself, you wouldn't believe some of the silly things I've done!), what matters is that we learn from them, as you have.

I'm glad that I've been granted by Him the foresight to avoid going down such paths (for this I have to thank only my Lord and Creator -- there isn't much in the way of Christian influence in the family, although my uncle is a fairly committed Christian and my aunt attends church somewhat).

Having said that, I also have to thank Him that I haven't fallen into the trap of condemning those who have these issues in their past. That doesn't mean I haven't had my share of issues. There was a time I felt like just plain *giving up*... and yet, something (which in this moment I recognise as most likely the Holy Spirit) has consistently compelled me to go on regardless. Sometimes motivation can be a struggle, but I slowly get there.

I can't claim to have been unselfish though - at times I have been the most selfish, obnoxious and self-centered individual one could imagine (sometimes without realising it!).

I can say I have been on the very edge before, but something always called me back. I'm glad that it was God that did. I'm never one to judge anybody, because I hate being judged myself. The wonderful thing is that the God on the mountain is still God in the valley!

You get used to it. They tend only to "laugh" a few times a day, so it's not so bad. You don't always hear them here, I suspect they come up from the National Park every so often.

Australia's a good place to come.

I've done my fair share of stupid things too. Both my parents were alcoholics, and I swore to myself that I'd never be like them. I never became an alcoholic, but I was well on the way before Jesus rescued me. Even then, I didn't get the message straight away. Just as well Jesus is patient.

You mean my avatar, or the one on the profile (which is a different dog)?

The one in the avatar is Pepsi, and is a he. The one in my profile is Roxie, and is a she. We also have a third dog, Henry, who's a he, obviously, and is a Cocker Spaniel.

Weather would be cloudy but there's no rain coming down so far as I can tell. Of course, it's 11:38pm right now so I'm not fussed about the weather anyhow.

That's how the weather is here too. Nice and cool but no rain.

Pepsi is adorable. *grin* And I had to go run to take a peek at Roxie. Awwww...very sweet, Cammo.

Yep they're great dogs.

Aanywho, I'd best be off to bed.

In case I don't see you when I arise, have an enjoyable rest of your day.
