Well I have never sunk a ship (another skipper did once...maintenance's fault...they forgot to put the plug back in when they were working on it.
I've "killed" a few boats (engine died)....that's always fun. Because then all of the boats behind you get stuck until another boat can come backwards to meet you and tow the boat back. It can either be a horrifying experience or a really fun delay...all depending on who's on the boat...
...one time I was stuck behind a boat that died about 1/2 way through the trip. That added probably 20 minutes to their ride (for 30 minutes total). I had a good crew, and when we finally got back to shore some of them were coming up to say they've never had so much fun in their life (usually at that point there's management on the dock apologizing for the inconvenience).
