Here's a question for you, out of the Kingsmen's Good Good God cd and Gold City's cd Revival, which one would you think win album of the year.

If those were the only two nominated, it would be hard to say. Without having heard either, I would probably vote for the Kingsmen album because it sounds to be a bit more traditional in style. I can almost guarantee you that neither will win album of the year, though--that's pretty much up for grabs between Greater Vision, the Inspirations, and now the Perrys, though Signature Sound be in the running if the new album is really good.

yea, that is true. I may be wrong, but I think Singing News Fan awards are popularity awards. Whoever is popular will win and I think that the Kingsmen are not on top right now but give them one or two years and they will be back on top. quote:

I already agree that their best tenor from their glory days was Ernie Phillips. I think Jerry Martin had the raw ability that he could have shone if he'd been fortunate enough to be their tenor in the 70s or 80s, but in point of what actually happened (not what could have been) Ernie was their best.

I agree with you Tater1955 that Ernie Phillips is the best tenor of the Kingsmen. I loved to hear him sing the ending on Love Lifted Me. I dont believe that I have ever heard a tenor get that high before. I hope Eric Phillips develops like his dad did. He would be a really great tenor if is anything like his dad. I love this great music because of the rhythm and the messages in the songs. I have been raised in Southern Gospel music my whole life and I have always been a Kingsmen fan. I agree that there isnt many young people that "like" or listen to Southern Gospel music. It worries me as a well. I hope and I pray that Southern Gospel music and the Kingsmen do not become extinct.

Well, here's another young, HUGE fan of SG and the Kingsmen. I personally love Jeremy Peace; it's probably as much his personality as his singing, but he can get very high. Jerry Martin is also definitely good.

But i love them all! Live Naturally....was that the double album that was recorded in Mt Vernon, IL? Had Excuses and Shake Hands With A "Pore" "Boyee"? That was my first experience.I want to get a copy of Big And Live.I also liked the one recorded in Springfield, MO.I truly think they were at their best with Ernie Phillips, though. It's certainly not the same with Hamill gone.....of course, nostalgia is the best kind of trip to take at times..... Jason quote:
undefined Yes Jason, Live Naturally was the double LP with all those great songs! I love that , and it is my #1 favorite of all of them!
