ORIGINAL: Jeff_from_Kentucky One more thing I forgot to mention. This is for everyone but I know Tina will be very interested. L5's book about Roger, Hello After Goodbye, is a must buy for any L5 fan! I bought it yesterday and read the entire thing last night before I went to bed. Debbie Bennett wrote the foreword and Scott F, Scott H, Glenn, Frank, and Tim each wrote a chapter. There are also hundreds of pictures in the book, which makes it a perfect book for some of us on here. Seriously though, it is really good and you get to see just what Roger meant to each of the guys in their own words. This is the thing that I want the most, Jeff!

SATURDAY NIGHT - This is for Jeff - Gary Buckner sang TWO songs! We looked for you, but couldn't find you. Now I know why. I am so sorry that y'all had to leave early. The evening started out with Debbie Bennett. She looked wonderful and she was able to speak for quite a little while. Now, you KNOW how much the crowd was looking forward to that!! She gave a little update on her bone-marrow/transplant volunteer job and how much it means to her. She said that Chelsea is living at home with her right now and that Jordan is close-by in Murfreesboro. She is a wonderful lady, filled with grace, but ya'll already knew that, didn't ya? Next up was Janet Paschall. Now, if you've ever seen her on the Gaither show or even if you have seen the DVD, The Best of Janet Paschall, you haven't really seen her! I have three of her CDs and I have the DVD, but her concert really let you get to know her. She is a wonderful lady. She sang several patriotic-type songs and she was great. She really talks to the audience a lot, and it's more of a "conversation." She had the audience sing along on a couple of songs. After this 30-40 min. segment, I KNOW that I want to see her again in a full-length concert! Very inspiring and very down to earth. Then, Ken Davis had us rolling on the floor with a comedy routine. I have seen Ken several times at these events (sadly, he wasn't here the time we came on Labor Day), and he really is a highlight of the weekend. He's so "normal", but he's so incredibly funny!!! But, he can get very serious in a split second when he wants you to realize that it's because of the freedom from sin that God gives us that we can enjoy ourselves so much! Not taking anything away from any other portion of the weekend, I've gotta tell you that even though hubby and I have been a little "tired," I really perked up when Greater Vision came on next. Gerald told us that Scott Fowler said that they were scheduled for 45 mins., but that he couild take as long as he wanted. My prayers started going up right then!!!! Gerald "threatened" to sing 3 hrs., but they did hold it to 45 mins. There seemed to be a LOT of GV fans in the crowd, and the lady sitting next to my husband thinks she's GV's #1 fan (you and I know different, don't we!!! ). GV had a wonderful set (never anything less than perfectly professional from these guys), and they included my favorite song. They highlighted Jason with the "Victory in Jesus" solo that started his career with GV. Just beautiful! Then, at intermission, I got to introduce hubby to Gerald. (And...Dinana, Roy Webb was helping out at GV's product table and I asked him if he had been on the forums since Friday. He said, "no," and I told him you have his picture up as your avatar. Maybe he'll come look and maybe he'll even "talk" to us while he's here!!) After intermission, L5 took over and sang a bunch of songs from their latest CDs. They talked about Roger a lot and I liked this segment the most of L5's segments this weekend. Much more folksey and intimate when they shared some stories about how hard it had been to sing on March 23, 2007 when they realized that Roger would never be with them on this earth again. They talked about how, before that concert, they didn't even know how to pray about what they needed. But God already knew and He provided a wonderful comic relief for them in the form of a very old (87 and 89 years old) couple. They really honored Tim Partin for how he not only substituted for Roger in his absences when he was fighting cancer, but also for remaining with them after Roger passed. (Tim's 9 yr old son also played the guitar with his dad. Nice!) Lots of emotion and it was good not only for L5, but it helped the audience deal with our remaining "loss." As I said earlier, Gary sang TWO songs with L5--after Scott scolded him for listening/singing with Greater Vision CDs while he drives their bus! VERY NICE EVENING! Tomorrow we'll have a morning session (I'm hoping Ken Davis does the devotional) and then lunch with L5. This has been a wonderful get-away weekend for the Hefners! I'll write about this morning's session when we get home tonight. Tina----I wish you could be here!

SUNDAY MORNING- The end of a wonderful weekend! The morning session started with family introductions. This is a really fun time to meet the wives/children of the L5 members. Lots of fun. Special note: When you get Scott's oldest son talking into a microphone, it's almost impossible to get the kid to stop talking! Just precious! L5 started out with a set, again concentrating on the newest CDs. Everything was a lot more casual and a lot more relaxed. And the guys were great! Greater Vision was next with a short set that ended with an outstanding performance of "It Is Well With My Soul." This, of course, got a standing ovation. Next up was Ken Davis who delivered a wonderful sermon about "fear". I was hoping he would preach, and I've gotta tell you, as funny as he is, he's just as good a preacher as he is a comedian. It was a wonderful sermon, geared especially to the 50+ yr. old people. Following the sermon, L5 sang a few more songs and the weekend was over! It was a wonderful, blessed weekend and we're glad we made it to our 4th "Celebration." We wish a lot of y'all could have made it to Nashville. Start saving up now for next year!!

Of course, hubby and I didn't get enough sleep Thursday night, and by Friday night, we were running on "empty." I bought the book, but haven't had a chance to look at it yet. Think I'm headed to bed now and will watch the White House DVD as I fall asleep. G'night, all!

I really like "God's Been Good To Me," which is the last song on the DVD and the title of their latest CD. Tim Partin sings it! I thought that was really neat!

ORIGINAL: L5FanLady Not to change the subject, so please feel free to continue with the previous subject, but.... I am listening again to the song "Hello After Goodbye," and I am wondering if Scott F. is going to be able to compose himself when he sings this song live....? It's a good song! Tina, I am happy to report that Scott did not seem to have any problem with it. I know he was thinking about Roger, but the guys are doing fine now. Even Debbie shed very few tears when she addressed the group Saturday night. She looked fabulous!

My hubby and I also attended the L5 event. Scott and the guys do a fantastic job of putting everything together. It was our first time attending, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute. Although I have most of Janet Paschal’s music, and I’ve seen her on the Homecoming Tour, this was the first time I’ve seen her on her own. I was not disappointed! Well, I thought I would make a list of my favorite moments, but after five minutes typing in Word, the list was just tooooo long. Here’s a few of them--- Loved the intro Gerald gave for FACES, concerning the farmer and the Brach’s peppermint. I was crying, the lady next to me was crying, and I think I even saw Gerald wipe a tear or two! This was probably the last time I will have the opportunity to see them with Jason. Ken Davis’ granddaughter’s prayer ending with “All the men!” Scott’s son…with the microphone! These are in addition to the numerous songs that were a blessing!

May 27, 2008 Whirlwinds A whirlwind.....sometimes we all feel like that's what we are caught up in. Mostly they are busy times of our own choosing, our own not knowing how to say "no" or prioritize. I certainly am guilty of that at times. Right now, my whirlwind is of my own choosing, but I am enjoying every breeze that is in it! I am sitting in an airport waiting for my next flight. I have already picked up the bone marrow I will be taking to someone whose life is dependent on it. It's such a sobering thing to think about, and yes, it does bring back many memories, but the feeling it gives me to be able to serve in this capacity is SO worth it. I absolutely thank God every day for the blessings He has given me through this opportunity. Besides this trip this week, I am scheduled for another next week, and one in the middle of the month so far. Again, my own choosing, but it's a delight. When I get home, there will be whirlwinds of a different sort. Company is coming, the house is in need of cleaning, those taxes are still not done, and I have set myself a deadline to finish this book, so that it will be out before September. Some of those are winds that I wish would blow right on over! So, I would appreciate your prayers for my self-motivation, as it somehow seems to dwindle, the closer to home I get. I know, I know, I do know the reason why, in most likelihood. But lately, it seems like God is doing a work in my heart to help me in the process of moving forward again. I had been mired in clay for a while there. I had a wonderful visit with so many people at the Legacy Five Celebration on Saturday. It was humbling to have so many dear ones "loving" on me, and letting me love them in return. I had the chance to visit with several friends, and signed a few of the new books about Roger (go to Legacy Five's website for the new tribute book and cd - they are a wonderful testament from his friends about his character). And I felt like another hurdle had been jumped, one which, again has softened my heart to the changes that are coming about in my life. I think about Roger's last post - "Seasons", and realize that, yet again, he was a man who had a lot of wisdom (although he chose to hide it in impish ways a LOT). His mission: to encourage and show Jesus in his own life. Judging from the love that was poured out to me over the weekend, if from nothing else (and I have so much more to take that knowledge from), his mission was successful. Thanks, honey, for showing us the value of being held firmly In His Grip! Debbie

Yep, those are the specials they had at Celebration last weekend, too! Live At the White House is very good. I wish it had been longer, but it is good. I really enjoyed the newest CD, God's Been Good, too.

I don't know if they will do it on-line or not but they did allow substitutions at the Celebration. Since I already had the Know So Salvation and Christmas CD's, they let me substitute the Tribute to Roger CD and the book for the same price.
