Ivan Parker concert 7 PM, 8-28-08 Rising Fawn Baptist Church PART 1 Even the 40 minute drive to Rising Fawn was good with Hey Earl of WDYN FM out of Chattanooga did a good long interview with Ivan as I headed down. I arrived about 6:10 and the parking was about half full already. Severalout of state tags of folks headed towards the Gatlinburg Gathering this weekend. I was worried about how good a seat i would get but Risng Fawn Baptist is a lot like my home church with the back pews filling first. So I walked right down front and got a seat on the front pew on the right side just about 15 foot from the stage. In a few minutes a couple asked if the space beside me was reserved. I said, "Reserved just for you." Turns out they were none other than fellow forum poster DebLawson and her husband. It was great meeting them and talking with them before the concert. The Chuch was beautiful and a great concert venue wider than it was deep with high ceilings and a stage about 30 " high so there wasn't a bad seat in the houseSeats somewhere between 300 and 400 and there were very few empty seats. Ivan had sent music ahead so the choir of over 30 members sang backup on many of the songs Beautifully dressed with the ladies in matching black dresses with gold sequins and the guys in black tuxes. Really added to a wonderful setting. Choir started with a beautiful rendition of We Have Come to This House Then they introduced Ivan and he came on stage in a cream colored suit with black shirt and purple tie. Lauched right into Hit The Ground Running followed by a rousing Best Hallelujah In The House encouraging the crowd to join in and shout. Even did an encore. He then said, "Isn't it great when God's kids get together and play. This is fun. I want to hear you sing and led the crowd in an acapella version of Amazing Grace The Spirit was moving and the crowd was really into it. Next he sang his new radio single, I'll Do The Miracle. Really good song! I can Only Imagine was awesome then he got a studio mic on stand to to do Haven of Rest that really brought on the glory bumps. Next up was You Can't Take My Crown then I Choose, and It Is Well With My Soul Finished up the first set with Midnight Cry that brought on the glory bumps again. Took about a 20 min Intemissiom End of PART ONE of Report.

It was great meeting you Dana! Ivan was awesome and we had some really great seats didn't we? My husband got to meet Ivan and shake his hand. That is a great review! The Holy Spirit came down and stayed awhile! It was a great night of praise and worshipping the Lord!

Ivan Parker Concert at Rising Fawn Baptist Part2 Came back from intermission and saluted the servicemen and veterans and sang God Bless The U.S.A. followed by what he called his favorite Gaither song, Because He Lives Introduced a couple of folks in the crowd, Jean Bradford(She was in the choir) a songwriter who with her late hushand Shorty were involved in southern gospel Music for many years. Then introduced Millie Freeman (Vestal Goodman's sister) and went into a funny story about him and Vestal at a Gaither event. Vestal was sitting down and called Ivan over, made him kneel down to talk to him, and she grabbed his cheeks in her hand and told him, "Boy, you always sing for Jesus." Ivan said all he could think of at the time was "Boy, those diamonds are huge." hen asked Millie if she got any of those diamonds and Millie stuck her hand up in the air to show everyone. Got a big laugh from the crowd. Next he did a tribute to his favorite singer, Jake Hess, with Wait Till You See In My New Home He used the studio mic for this song and even did Hess like hand movements during the song. Then did a request of Sweet Beaulah Land followed by His Great Medley which consists of Great Is Thy Faithfulness, How Great Thou Art, & How great Is Our God Finished the concert with a rousing When I Get Carried Away I thought it ended too quickly but a look at at my watch showed it was 9:30. Times flies when you're having a great time in the Lord. Always Gracious, Ivan was still talking to people, signing autographs, and posing for pictures when I left at 10:30. I'll have to rate this concert a full 10 hoppy's with angel escorts!! I also got to meet Jean Bradford and talk with her about a song she wrote years ago that I really like and hope to record one day. EDIT: I also got to meet Laverne and Glenda Grant from Jefferson, TX who promote and attend a lot Southern gospel concerts and have a wesite that they post a lot of concert pictures y'all might enjoy visiting. www.laverneglendagrant.com

I got to see Gold City with their Band of Gold this last Saturday and they were Awesome! They were in Branson, Mo at Silver Dollar City in Echo Hollow Amphitheater. The guys not only sung songs from their new album, but they also sung old songs like: When He Calls (I'll Fly Away), In My Robe of White, John Saw, and so on. It was truly amazing to here them perform, and they did such a wonderful job too! I got my picture takin' with Gold City and the members of are Band of Gold; which are: Kevin Albertson on drums, Taylor Barnes on bass, and Daniel Addison on guitars and misc, and of course, our Wonderful Piano Player, Josh Simpson! It was all Great! I can't wait to see them again, and hopefully Soon!

Last night I attended one of the concerts as part of the Southern Gospel Picnic at Echo Hollow at Silver Dollar City. The Whisnants and Talley Trio were to perform at 6 PM. At 5:30 it started raining. The crowd was about 200 compared to the 4900 the night before (a record for any kind of event ever at that venue). The stage was partially covered with something like a tent just large enough to cover the group and equipment. Jeff Whisnant said if the crowd was brave enough to sit in the rain to hear them he intended to give them their best. They absolutely did! Their performance was just as good as when I heard them a couple of weeks ago at the Brumley Sing. A couple of attendants were behind them most of the 45 minutes they sang with long-handle brooms knocking water off the tent and sweeping it away, but it didn't seem to phase them. I'd say that's a great example of "let the show do on." At the end of their time park officials decided it would be best to end the program, so the Talley Trio did not get on stage, but they were prepared to do so.

I am into my 6th day of the Southern Gospel Picnic at Silver Dollar City. There has been some great talent there. I attended all 6 of the Soul'd Out Quartet concerts. They simply rocked the theater. I have a couple of videos to share. In the Sweet Bye and Bye Just A Little Talk With Jesus The greatest hit at the concert was "Ain't Nobody" This video was not at SDC but it is too good not to share. Soul'd Out sang this song as their finale. I saw Gold City, Karen Peck and New River, Three Bridges, Tribute Quartet, The Ball Brothers and The Freemans for the first time. It has been a wonderful week.

Went to see Greater Vision, Legacy Five and Mark Trammell Trio in Trussville, AL last night. This free concert was to commerate the 50th wedding anniversary of some very special friends, not only to Marge and myself, but also to the singing community. Frank and Lillian Buckner both are cancer survivors and have supported SG music for more than the length of their marriage. What a blessed time we had. Got home in suburban Atlanta Georgia at 2:30 AM this morning.

I attended the Booth Bros. concert last night in Staunton, VA....as usual the guys were better than before. I must admit though their performance of "Don't Fence Me In" was one of the most hilarious ones yet. I wish I had had Diana with us so she could have filmed it. I'm sure we will be seeing this one on YouTube before it's over. Let's just say wigs of various styles and colors and ponies on sticks were used! They sang some of their new songs including "Welcome to the Family" not once but twice so an audience member could call her husband and let him listen.

ORIGINAL: Dinana I saw Tribute last night and really enjoyed them. The church did something different - during intermission, they served dinner! It was very nice getting to fellowship with the other concert-goers as well as the men from the quartet, who are so very friendly! The church pianist, who had played for several congregational hymns at the beginning of the evening, took Josh "under her wing" and made sure he got what he wanted to eat since he came into the dinner after most people had served themselves. Then during the second half of the program, they played duet style on a hymn. I got some good video to share: Diana, thanks for the videos. We saw the Tribute Quartet for the first time last week at SDC and really enjoyed them. I didn't get a video so I am really happy to see yours.

Hey all! I went to see Greater Vision tonight and...oh my goodness. SO amazing! First of all, I love Jacob! He's cute as he can be and seems like a really nice guy. His voice was in FINE form tonight, that's for sure! He did a great job of being just annoyed enough with Gerald making fun of him, haha. And then there was Gerald...boy, was he ON tonight! He was absolutely hysterical. There was a lady in the front row that kept talking to him throughout the show and at one point Gerald mentioned that they were going to be filming a new piano vid at NQC this week. So the lady shouts, "Save me one!" He looks at her for a minute and then goes, "What?" "Save me one!" "I'm not gonna do that! You want me to take something brand new and save it for you? Do you have 20 bucks?" So the woman, who has to be 65-75, stands up and pulls out a 20 dollar bill and walks it up to Gerald. At first he just looked at her and then he busted out laughing and said, "Well you can say goodbye to that!" So a little while later he mentioned a CD package they were selling (Which I bought and is amazing...) and she said, "Oh! I want one!" So Gerald starts laughing and says, "Well buy one!" And she gets up and hands a 10 dollar bill to Jacob and then to Rodney and then goes and sits back down as she glares at Gerald. Haha. Then Gerald said, "You realize, ma'am, that you've now given us more than you put in the offering!" It was great. And the show was just amazing. Rodney talked about his father-in-law's salvation experience and the guys just looked like they were having a blast. I got to talk to the guys afterward and they were SO great, I'd never met them before! So as I was leaving I look to my left and then look back to the people I was with: "Is that Scott Fowler?" "What?" "Over in the corner!" So sure enough Scott was there and I got to talk to him, too! GREAT NIGHT!
