I also saw the Booth Brothers concert Friday night. As Lynn has written it was great & enjoyed by all. Had a nice visit with them after the concert.

Last night I went to see the Marl Trammel Trio. Mark & Eric picked on each other all night long. It was very funny. They just get better each & every time I see them. They did alot of songs from their new CD, along with some old ones too.

Eric's Aunt Lois, did tell me that Ernie is in the hospital & needs out prayer at this time. I assured her that we will be praying.

Saw Karen Peck & New River at Temple Baptist in Chattanooga. sat with a good friend Ernie Carter who knows more about Southern Gospel Music than I ever will. Didn't take many notes this times but just had a great time listening to the music.

They did a lot of old favorites and a few new ones and talked about their trip to the grammys that was very funny.

I'll rate it eight hoppies.

I'll bet Karen was a hoot telling about it! They've posted pictures on their website and they're pretty good at telling the story!

We saw the Dove Bros. in concert at Carmi, IL, yesterday afternoon. It had been a year since we last saw them so we were ready. They are traditional male quartet in about every way, from the matching conservative dress, to the great harmony and piano licks. They sang a lot from their latest cd. A song McCray wrote and sung about looking like the Devil would learn his lesson (sorry, the name escapes me) was a highlight in that part. Other highlights were McCray singing "Antioch Churchhouse Choir", complete with the story about them singing it for Ed O'Neal's Hall of Fame induction, Jerry Martin singing "I Can Pray" (what a great song and message), Jerry singing the old song "Beyond the Sunset" (I never heard it done any better) and David singing the George Younce song "Thanks to Calvary". They ended the concert with "Didn't It Rain" and "Get Away Jordan", back-to-back, including an encore on Jordan. That is a tall order for any group, and of course the crowd was really into it. McCray also recited the words to Jordan after they had sung it, which added real meaning to the song. I still say David is very low, regardless of whom else has been mentioned as low-singing basses. It was also good to see Eric back in good form and voice, and Jerry Kelso is a great quartet keyboard player. We look forward to their next appearance in S IL, whenever that will be.
One other thing, although I hate to make comparisons, I still prefer the Dove Bros. version of Get Away Jordan over that of Sig Sound (and I am a fan and follower of EH&SSQ). Both do it well, I just like the Dove's better.[;)]

Had a great evening with Triumphant Quartet and Voices Won last night. Sure when Dinana has time she will have some great videos of the concert. Give her time, she's on the road all weekend.

It was a great concert, Bobby! And well attended! Voices One gets better every time we see them! We'll probably go to their "homecoming" in November.

It was great seeing Jim C, too! It's been a while since we've seen him at a concert.

I saw Greater Vision this morning, but I'll post about it on the Greater Vision thread.

AbigailPaasch -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (9/21/2008 4:14:34 PM)

Just briefly (I'll write up more on sgconcerts.com sometime!):

Friday night - Golden Moments with Ivan Parker, Brian Free & Assurance and Garry Jones:
Had a GREAT time. This year they played parts of the Gold City Pillars of Faith video as a lead-in to some of the songs. It was hilarious seeing them when they were much younger! They didn't have a live band this year (other than Garry), but Assurance stayed on stage and sang most of the songs with Ivan, Brian and Garry. I talked to the promoter and he will be doing this again next year and he's already got some things in the works that will really make the evening even more special. I used my new video camera, but I'm having trouble converting the files to a downloadable format for youtube. Maybe I'll make some progress with them and can post some video later this week.

Saturday night - Voices Won and Triumphant: I've heard Voices Won (from Dalton, GA) several times and this time was definitely the best. This is a trio of brothers and they write a lot of their own songs. They sang in at least one showcase at NQC, so maybe some of y'all got to see them there. Triumphant did their usual terrific job!

Sunday morning - The Old Paths: Not only do they have a new bass singer, Trent Adams, but they are now traveling with a band. Besides having Joe Cox on the keyboard, they now have Jeremy Chupp playing drums and Kraig Carsee playing the bass guitar. They're all still getting used to each other, but I really enjoyed hearing them. I got a little bit of video that I'll try to post later in the week.

Sunday night - Garry Jones at Josh Feemster's church: Garry performed several solo selections and accompanied the combined adult and youth choirs on several of the songs Garry has arranged and produced thru the years, including Midnight Cry with Josh singing the lead. It was a marvelous evening. I may have one or two videos I can post later on this one, too.

I just totaled up the mileage for this weekend ---- it was about 900 miles! It didn't feel like that much since it was scattered over three days! But I don't do that for every artist - just the really special ones!

Yes, Dinana, I very much appreciate all the work you do. I love to watch the YouTube videos -- its almost as good as going to the concert... not quite, but almost. Thank you. [:)]

DeeAnnBailey -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (9/23/2008 6:33:41 PM)

We had the Melodyaires from Travelers Rest, SC at our church Sunday. This group has been singing for almost 4 years and 2 members of the group are 3rd generation. Chris Cooper formerly with N'Harmony and Safe Harbor is now singing their tenor.

They also had a 14 year old on the bass guitar who is VERY talented and such a sweet young man!

I went to see Tony McGee and New Covenant a couple weeks ago. Tony wasn't with them that day, but they were still pretty good.

For once it wasnt the Talleys! [:)] But I dont think you'd consider this a concert either! [:D]
My mom and I drove up to Findlay, OH last night to attend an all day Reaching Women Conference today that Lisa Whelchel was the guest speaker at.
Most of you will only know who she is if I say she was "Blair" on the show The Facts of Life that aired in the 80's. My sisters grew up on that show, but of course I grew up on the reruns! [8D] She now has 3 teenagers (ages: 16, 17, & 18) and is married to a pastor.

Here are some pics from the conference today: http://heatherranah.myphotoalbum.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=album104

I am seeing the Talleys on Thursday though..just so I dont disappoint anyone here! [:D]

Not sure this really counts, but we had Lulu Roman at my church tonight doing a benefit dinner concert for the Austin Pregnancy Resource Center. The concert was fabulous! If anyone hasn't gotten to hear her in person, she has an amazing voice. One of my favorite songs of all time is "That's the Man I'm Looking For." I didn't know that it was one of hers. Amazing! Her testimony will leave you in happy tears too. She really has a story for what God has done in her life. And she looks great too! Says she lost 194 lbs (I think that was the number... I know it was in the 190s) and it shows. She is such a wonderful lady and I am so thrilled to have gotten to see her. Oh, and she said our church's youth choir is coming to Branson in Nov. to perform with her for her new DVD she is making. How exciting is that? Almost makes me wish I was a teenager again. [:D]

I saw Lulu Roman last year at one of the Roger Neal concerts. She was not feeling well that night, but she sang her heart out.
