Neat! I'm especially hoping to see videos of Brandon with the Stamps and maybe if you got one of what Andy Stringfield's singing voice sounds like.

ORIGINAL: heather84 I bet NO one could EVER guess who I saw tonight! Hmmmm --- could it be the Talley Trio!?!?!?!?! I had a fantastic weekend ---- Voices Won on Friday, Old Paths on Saturday afternoon, Brandon Barry filling in with the Stamps on Saturday night (didn't see you there, Dana), and Kingdom Heirs (Andy Stringfield played piano AND filled in at baritone for Steve French who was sick) and Paid In Full 3 times on Sunday!!! Doesn't get much better than that unless Triumphant is also in the mix!! I'll try to get at least a few videos up today. How did you know?! Sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! Always love your videos too! We went and saw the Talleys at a mennonite church last night in Kidron, OH. The church was very strict with the cameras they wanted no videos or audio recording at all. When I had called about this show a while ago they told me it was a free show. When we got up there (2 hour drive..not bad!) it said sold out on their sign. I'm like uhhh sold out?! This wasnt suppose to be ticketed! So I went up and asked and they told us to just go ahead and come in it was fine. Apparently it was ticketed though and they had some extra room so since it was just two of us they let us in. The next show we're taking my "little" niece. She's not so little anymore, she just turned 17 a couple weeks ago. I've had this burden on my heart for a while now to take her, but never did anything about it. The only church up bringing that girl has had growing up is when we would take her when she stayed with us and always wanted to come to bible school. She was even going to church with a friend for a while, but the older she got the more it stopped and the more shes become like my sister (her mama) and is into this goth and dungeons and dragons stuff. Even though my sister, like all 3 of us girls, was brought up in church. My other sister is not christian either. I tell my mom all the time one out of three aint too bad! So instead of "dragging" her to church to hear some preaching (which I know she wouldnt do anyway) I'm having to be a little more clever now so I asked her if she wanted to go to a Talley concert. She said whats a talley concert. I didnt come right out and say it was a christian concert (otherwise she wouldnt go), but kinda explained who they were. She said it sounded fun and would like to go. I figure with Lauren being younger and being able to reach the young people that it was probably a better thing to take her to then just a regular church service. Seeing a young person up there serving Christ and seeing that not all young people are out getting drunk, etc it sometimes helps. So remember us next weekend (the 24th) as we take her that something one of them do or say, weather it be Lauren or one of the other two, will help in some way or at least get her thinking. Now that I just made that longer than I ever anticipated it would be, I'll give u the pics from last night now! http://heatherranah.myphotoalbum.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=album105

I actually stumbled across the Brandon Barry video on YouTube, and that led me to log in here! The aspect ratio is a little weird on the Brandon one. Did you film it in widescreen? I didn't do anything different on this one. I didn't notice any distortion but I'll go back and look again.

This past Saturday night, i went to Wooster, Ohio to see Gold City and Crossway. They also had a third group, three brothers called "High Valley", and they were very good. They are from up in Canada. One plays the mandolin, one the rhythm guitar, and the other the bass. They have a very good sound, i bought one of the cd's from them. Then Crossway, which is now down to 2 memebers, Matt McFarlin and Paul Smith. They still sounded great. They have a beautiful sound together. The headliner was Gold City. They really brought the house down. Aaron really stood out on his solo songs like "Turn Your Back", "Walking, and Talking With My Lord", and his part on "Cast My Bread Upon the Water". They did most songs from Moment of Truth, and Rivival, then a lot of old classics, which it would't be the same without. Aaron also did a fantastic job on "Under Control". I was happy they did "Preach the Word"! It was really good to see them all. The only one i really talked to that much was Josh before the concert.

Well, i seen Ivan Parker, the Browders and a fellow named Seth Carmicheal in Harrogate, TN. at LMU tonight. Good show, but to be honest, The Browders stole the show for me. They were genuine, funny, and just flat good!!!! Ivan was good, but he really needs a quartet. I am convinced solo is not his best work. His voice was great, songs were good, but when you have that many voices on track, not singing back up really, but singing almost as loud, or louder than him, it takes something away.

I went to a concert tonight at Central Community Church in Covington, GA. The lineup was Annette Herndon, Crystal River and Jeff & Sheri Easter. The concert was great.

Hubby and I went to the Georgia Mountain Fair yesterday and had a great time seeing 3 different SG groups. The Diplomats sang at chapel service and they were also the first group to have a 1 hour concert. They were teriffic. And Jimmy Pearson was a hoot! He was much funnier than I have seen him at other concerts, although he has always displayed a good sense of humor. He had four guys (picked randomly throughout the audience) come to the stage. Then he had the audience sing "This Little Light of Mine." After we sang, he had the four guys sing individually. The prize for the best singer was one of the Dip's CDs and the prize for the worst was a picture of the Dips. Well, turns out that every single one of them was teriffic! And a couple of them jazzed up the song great! There was just no way to pick a "best," so Jimmy gave each of them a CD!!!!! Now if you want to hear great, old-fashioned SG, you cannot find ANY group that does it better than the Diplomats. Very, Very much like the Happy Goodmans. And, if you don't watch out, Jimmy will start preaching, too!!! Then Karen Peck and New River was up. Hubby had not seen this group, but I knew he would like them. They were just finishing an 11 day tour and Karen said they were really looking forward to being home in their own beds! But they didn't act or sing tired. They were very, very good. They sang a lot of songs from their most recent two CDs. Karen brought down the house with "Four Days Late." I really like the way KP&NR move around the stage. They back completely off when someone is featured, and then they come back together in different configurations of positions. Very interesting and different from just standing in the same lineup the entire concert. I know I've done a lousy job of explaining it. Guess you just have to see it to understand! Next up were The Isaacs. Talk about full of energy! They always are. They start strong and end strong and they're strong in between! They had a violinist, a guitar/banjo player, a drummer AND all the Isaacs and their instruments. Talk about a FULL stage! The highlights for me were the opening song, The Star Spangled Banner, sung a capella by Sonya. Beautiful! Another highlight was when they brought up a 6-year-old little girl from Ecuador. Sonya evidently talks on the phone with this girl frequently and calls her one of her "little friends." She's adopted and is blind. She came up to the stage and sang the first verse and chorus of one of their songs. Very touching. You could tell the little girl was just thrilled! And I was also happy that Lily sang with the group several times. She sang one of my favorite Isaac's songs, "Yours and Mine." I love that song!!! Unfortunately, since the Isaacs were the last of the three groups, people had become weary of sitting and started leaving in droves. Two of my favorite people, Bobby and Carol York, even left early! I've never seen those two leave any concert early!!!! But you know, to listen to such a high energy group as The Isaacs takes a lot of energy, and I guess it had just run out!!! Anyway, it was a beautiful day in the North Georgia mountains and we really enjoyed the concert! Fine way to spend a Fall Sunday afternoon! Even better than a Baptist nap! (Note: Speaking of Baptist naps, is Kerrlaw back yet?????)

I had another SG weekend, too! On Saturday, we saw The Old Paths and Gold City at an outdoor event and it was beautiful! There were two local groups that sang - Second Chance and Hearts Land Quartet (this was at a location called Heart's Land, so they were the host group, I guess you'd say). Both groups were good and a pleasure to hear. Speaking of hearing - - - the sound was cranked up so loud that we sat at the very back of the venue! We tried sitting up front during sound check and just couldn't stay! This was a very casual (rustic!) outdoor setting with tables behind about 10 rows of chairs. People were eating and talking during the whole concert, which was quite distracting. The Old Paths are in the middle of a long road trip. Doug Roark told me they had seen 30 people saved this week! They sang two sets and are getting better and better with their new bass and their band. You could say that Jeremy was in "good voice" since he sang several of his really, really high notes! Trent is getting better at the bass position, Doug was great with his singing and his emceeing, and Tim Rackley is one of the best in SG at the lead. Gold City had their band with them and I enjoyed their two sets very much. I did detect a couple of songs where I thought the tempo was different than the recording but I guess that's what having a live band is about. They did perform When Jesus Saves and, of course, sang Midnight Cry to close out the evening. Great performance! I haven't had a chance to see if my videos turned out. Jim also took some pictures for me so I'll check them out today, too. Jim Cheek and I got to talk quite a while with Captain_Smooth --- GC's bus driver, which was very nice since you don't usually get to see him at concerts - he's typically sleeping so he can drive them to their next concert. Hey, Ed On Sunday, I visited my parents up in Ellijay, GA. When I got there they mentioned that a group called "Pathway" was going to be at their church that night. It was really the Pathfinders, so I decided it would be a good idea to stay and take them to church for the evening service (they don't drive at night). I had received a copy of the newest Pathfinder CD about a year and a half ago and enjoyed it, so I was glad to have the chance to hear them live. They're a trio, but their lead singer had a work conflict this weekend so he wasn't there. Dearl Lemons and Dawn McGuire did a fine job anyway! I'm so glad I got to hear them and to talk with them afterwards. If you're not familiar with them, they have a really good MySpace page that you can check out.

We usually stay 'til it's over, but we were just tired yesterday and had heard the Isaacs recently at Dollywood. So we thought we'd get out a little early as slow as Carol is so we could stop and eat on the way home. We just had hot dog for lunch, wanted an ice cream but they weren't opened yesterday. Weather must have been too cool for them. It was a great day with all three groups and they had a good crowd for the last day of the fair.

I heard that the concerts at Shipshewana Town Center in Shipshewana, IN were fabulous this weekend. The 1500-seat auditorium was sold out both nights. Dennis Schwanberg (is that how you spell his name???), The Dixie Echoes, Tribute, Triumphant and Collingsworth Family performed and the second half of the concerts was a Parade of Pianos with Jeff Stice, Kim Collingsworth, Josh Singletary, Stewart Varnedo, and Dino. Some of the songs played during the piano portion of the program were Battle Hymn, I'll Fly Away, Heaven's Jubilee, When The Saints Go Marching In, When We All Get to Heaven, several other hymns, The Entertainer, Somewhere My Love, and New York, New York. I sure would've loved to have been there!!!

The Shipshewana concert was GREAT!!! Dennis Swanberg had us laughing ourselves silly and even though the sound wasn't the best I have ever heard, each group did three songs and then the second half was suppose to be all piano...except Friday night when Kim was playing "How Great Thou Art" God came to SHipshewana...literally every person was on their feet and Dino simply admitted he didn't know what to do...so we burst into about ten minutes of audience singing, one song and chorus after another...it was so wonderful to see Dino and the musicians just lay aside their agenda and allow God to move! Tickets were a little pricey...but three and one half hours later i think we all agreed we got our monies worth. Plus Shipshewana is such a great place to go for a weekend getaway!
