I saw the Dixie Melody Boys yesterday morning at Calvary Baptist. It wasn't widely advertised, and I almost missed it, but I'm glad I didn't. Ed has another winning lineup......they were wonderful! They'll be back at Calvary next Saturday for Jonathan's wedding.

Last night the same church had their mother daugther banquet and the Talleys were there for it. Lauren sang after and Debra spoke while using Lauren to demonstrate . She dressed her up pretty funny. Pics are here: http://heatherranah.myphotoalbum.com/view_album.php?set_albumName=album74

I went to see the Greenes a few weeks ago, with Taranda back after having her baby and Paul Lancaster in place of Brad Hudson.

I went to a Gaither Homecoming concert in downtown Kansas City, KS at the new Sprint Center on May 9th. It was a great concert; and boy do you get your monies worth. It lasted 4 hours (which includes a 20 minute intermission). I mainly went to see Signature Sound. They are the best bunch of guys - willing to sign stuff, take pictures with you. I even got my goodbye hugs with the guys. Sweet, sweet bunch of guys. The concert was great; and the artist attendance was also great: Signature Sound Gaither Vocal Band Russ Taft ( I love 'Trumpet of Jesus') The Easters Gordon Mote Reggie and Lady Love Linda Randal Janet Pascal (she gave a great testimony regarding her experience w/ cancer) Gene McDonald (was there after intermission) Kevin Williams and Rory Rigdon (sp?) had us in stitches all night I love the part after intermission where the artists sang with other artists who have gone on to be with the Lord via past homecoming footage. The timing between the 'live' singers and singers who have passed on (like George Younce, Vestal, Jake Hess, etc) was tremendous.

We were down in Hendersonville, TN for some more recording Thursday so we stayed over and went over to Cunningham last night and saw the talleys. It was only about an hour drive. They sang then someone preached..which made it longer. We got back to the hotel at about 11:30 and went to bed for our long travel back home today. Went to Wedowee, AL yesterday to the latest installment of "The Singing By The Lake" sponsored by The Rice Family and The Diplomats. The concert featured The Homeland Boys, The Diplomats and The legendary Lewis Family. Tht is one of the most beautiful places I think I've ever been. The old Rice homeplace has been turned into a private resort featuring an authentic log cabin replica of their childhood home and a HUGE pavilion for covered seating and concessions. The 'stage' is a giant pier out in the lake, and the sound reverberates for miles. There were SeaDoos, Pontoons and Skiboats parked all around the cove filled with people enjoying the singing. What a way to enjoy a day at the lake! The concert opened with local pastor Corky Addison (aka: PT steel player for The Dips) and the choir from his church. Then, The Lewis' hit the stage with their trademark bluegrass harmony and comedy. BTW: Polly was there, and seemed to be doing OK, but, bless her heart, she's really gone down a lot since I saw her last. At the end of their show, she tried to request prayer, and Janice had to help her with her thoughts. SAD! But, my what a trouper she is. She 'could' have stayed in Lincolnton, but NO! She was there, and did a great job. What's more, they were traveling all night to be in Gettysburg, PA today. Amazing dedication!!! The Homeland Boys did their usual good job. My ole buddy, Jacky Fortner is STILL busting those high tenor tones with the dexterity of a man 1/2 his age. They are very energetic, and left the crowd wanting more. Finally, The unofficial host group, The Diplomats took the stage and hammered home some of the finest Southern Gospel singing this side of Heaven. I don't think Mrs. Rita has ever sounded so sweet. Corey did a remarkable job with the sound, and Joe scraped the bottom with the best bass singing you could ask for. After a few songs, Jimmy brought another legend to the stage... none other than Mr. Les Beasley. They did about 3 songs 'quartet-style', and then The Dips finished off their segment with some more great singing. After a break, each group came back for a few more songs. Oh! There were 2 more people there that I wanted to mention. My friend, Danny Jones, (aka: MR. Singing News) and another legendary Gospel Music performer... 90 some-odd-year-old Mr. Buford Abner of the famous Suanee River Boys. He is a joy to visit with. He LOVES them Diplomats, too! Just before the sun went down, the final song was sung, and everything was loaded up and the groups headed up the hill to Mr. Rice's "fellowship hall'. it's a nice little building behind his house where he throws one more HUGE meal for the singers. What a precious family. If you're ever in Wedowee, AL, stop in and see them. Ask to see his enormous collection of red FarmAll tractors. They're unbelieveable. WHAT A GREAT DAY!!!

Had a blessed time last night with Enlisted. They sang their hearts out and the Holy Spirit was in that Church last night. Pam, Stacey and Joey are a group to be reconded with. Joey told me they were gonna be doing a video at Mercy's Road Homecoming in August. That also should be a great evening. Pam is currently writing some new songs for their next recording. I had a request from a group the other night to check with her about songs she was writing. They were interested in recording some of her songs. They have recorded one in the past. If Enlisted is ever in your area you should make a special effort to see them. Promise you that you will be Blessed.

This morning Danny Funderburk and Mercy's Way were at Macland Baptist. After the Macland Choir brought the house down with My Name is Lazarus, Mercy's Way did a short stand. They sang Unseen Hand, Midnight Cry and Somebody Touched Me. Danny also gave his moving and powerful testimony. He truly is a walking miracle. I'm sure we'll have them back soon.

I went to see the Dove Brothers for the first time this past weekend. To be honest, in the words of Randy on American Idol, it was just alright. They really didn't blow me away like some other groups I have recently seen like the Greenes, the Whisnants and Karen Peck & New River.

The last couple of times I heard them I also thought that they were just alright. They are definitely not my favorite group but I will go hear them if I am able to when they are close by my house. I do really enjoy hearing the song "I Can Pray".

Tonight I went to a Greater Vision concert and it was teriffic. GV was the only artist, so they had plenty of time to sing. YES! Dinana took lots of notes, so I'm sure she'll give a good recap of what songs were sung as well as post some links to pictures and video. I can tell you that they sang my favorite song, God Will Pass By. If you haven't heard that song or read the words, YOU NEED TO! This song is a huge encouragement to me and Gerald just outdoes himself on it! They don't always sing this song during their concerts, and I was thrilled that they included it tonight. GV has sung at the church where they appeared tonight for 6-7 years in a row, so they weren't strangers to this group of people. GV was very well received and the audience was really involved and enthusiastic. It was announced that Jason was leaving GV and going to college and then to seminary. And Jason was featured on more songs that usual. He did a great job. Jason's wife, Missy, and his son, Jonathan, were there and it was great seeing both of them. Missy's mom, Sandy Payton, played the piano on one of the songs that GV sang and it was awesome. She is an extremely talented musician and I really enjoyed her performance. (I would have loved to hear several songs.....but I'm being greedy!) Chief and Marge Klaudt were there and it was great seeing them. Their daughter, Melody, is doing very well with her chemotherapy. I know a lot of people on this forum have been praying for her and can be very pleased with this report! Roy Webb was there also! He's riding along on GV's bus. He didn't play the piano. Dinana and I had a long conversation with him after the concert. He didn't know when he'll be back down in Georgia or closeby, but we'll keep checking his website. As always, I left the concert very happy and very, very blessed.
