Brian Free and Assurance did great. First time to see them with Jeremy singing Bass.

So it's true?  Hubby heard about it this morning, but I haven't found any online news report about it yet.
BOONE, NC(Singing News) - Singing News has confirmed that legendary singer/songwriter Dottie Rambo was killed in an early morning bus accident. Early reports indicate that the accident was weather-related, and that several other passengers aboard the bus were also injured. The family was notified early this morning that the accident happened near Mt. Vernon, Missouri. Manager Larry Ferguson is still unconscious and has two broken legs.
Updated Information from Missouri authorities:
At 2:19 a.m.,Missouri State Troopers responded to the accident that took place on I-44, two miles east of Mt. Vernon, Missouri. According to the Troopers' report, the 1997 Prevost Dottie was traveling aboard ran off the roadway, struck the guard rail and an embankment. Dottie was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County (Mo.) Coroner Don Lakin at 4:20 a.m.
Aboard the bus were Dottie's product manager Christopher Barnes, Larry & Judy Ferguson, their children Pierce and Christian, and driver Ronnie Meadows.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.

We just returned from Gaither Family Fest 2008 in Gatlinburg, TN. As usual, we return refreshed, revitalized, and looking forward to next year.
Part 1 - Friday night
After eating at our favorite restaurant (The Peddler) and placing the leftovers in the fridge for a late night snack, we proceeded to our usual seats, not close to the stage but on the risers with a good view of the stage and a very good view of one of several huge plasma screens.
The concert began with two songs by the combined Gaither Vocal Band and Signature Sound, which got us off to a good start.
It took a few minutes for "our" big screen to get working, but the technical staff did an excellent job and it was up and running about the third song.
Buddy Green was back after a five year absence. His touring partner, Jeff Taylor, was there, playing the accordion, the pennywhistle, and other exotic instruments. Buddy is a fine guitar player and a harmonica virtuoso who gave a harmonica workshop on Sturday afternoon. Buddy also wrote the music to Mary, Did You Know.
The current Homecoming regulars were there - the Booth Brothers, Jeff and Sherri Easter, the Isaacs, Lynda Randle, Russ Taff, and Ben Speer, and did their usual fine job. I particularly enjoyed the Booth Brothers song about the little boys and the candy bar. The Easter's oldest daughter, Morgan, now sings with them regularly. Their son Madison is also part of the group, according to the program, but did not sing at Family Fest. Greg Ritchie is still the drummer for the Gaither Homecoming tour.
There was only one comedian this year, the ventriloquist David Pendleton, who did a wonderful job, primarily with his main "dummy", Aunt Tilly, a 94 year old spinster. There was a lot of laughter and humor this year, often provided by tour regular Kevin Williams and Bill Gaither. They really have a great rapport and excellent timing. Sound man Rory Rigdon provided additional humor with his wide-eyed deadpan stare and wacky word definitions.
Gorson Mote did his usual good job playing the piano and singing.
Janet Paschal (now cancer free, Praise God) gave her wonderful testimony about her ordeal with chemotherapy. Gloria Gaither (who gave another of her fine readings tonight) was a great support to Janet in her time of trouble.
One of the best parts of Family Fest is that Eva Mae LeFevre is there. At ninety-one, she is still sharp as a tack and carries on a great banter with Bill. She still sings well and this year was no exception. She gave a beautiful rendition of Leave It There.
The biggest (and most pleasant) surprise was the Collingsworth Family. I am now a huge fan of this group and cannot tell you how much I was impressed. When they took the stage I told Cindy: "I believe that Daniel Mount is very high on this group." After their performance, Cindy said: "Danny was right." (forgive the familiarity Daniel). I could have listened to them sing for two hours.
Kim Collingsworth gave the best solo piano performance that I have ever heard. I have heard many piano solos (usually as I head to the restroom or product table) but I was absolutely captivated by her superb piano skill. An outstanding combination of technical skill and passion and feeling for the music (eat your heart out Dino). It almost made me want to go to pianorama, but not quite. 
As is customary, a traditional male quartet closed the first half and ended the concert. Signature Sound did a good job before intermission and the Vocal Band closed out the concert with a few songs. Marshall Hall impresses me more and more as time goes by.
The concert started at 7:00 p.m. and ended at 11:20 p.m., with a 15 minute intermission. We really got our money's worth Friday night.

Good review, Mike. Makes me want to see the Collingsworth Family. They have never been in our area, as far as I know.

Over the past 4 weeks i have been able to attend some great concerts.
Tribute Quartet- Great, Solid quartet...Also some really great people to work with and you can tell they really have a heart for the music, message, and industry! This was one of my first solo promoted concerts and i believe it went well. They did songs off of their 2 projects. They are a crowd pleaser!
Heirline- I had heard great things about heirline, but never had the opportunity to see them live. I saw them a few weekends ago on a saturday night, and they were really great! The line up was the singing reflectsons, dave and rusty (ventriliquist act..GREAT family christian comedy), and heirline. Heirline really draws a great crowd and they are very ministry oriented. I had to go back and see them again the next sunday night and they had CHURCH!
Jason Crabb - Saw Jason this past sunday night...GREAT AS ALWAYS. It was jason, the band, and backup singer. after his second song, we in the audience got a great suprise...crabb revival walked in the back to suprise jason. So of course, we got a nice reunion concert. Jim Raley preached and then after a tremendous altar call...the crabbs finished out with some more music.
Naomi and the segos- I had the opportunity to see this group last weekend. Naomi still has a powerful voice, and is a very sweet, humble lady. I really enjoyed her. She had two guys filling in for her departed members. The guys were Terry Dorsey and Scott Spangler. Both did a great job...especially Scott handling the emcee work.

Family Fest 2008
Part 2- Saturday morning
The morning sessions typically consist of an hour or so of singing and a prominent Christian guest speaker (such as Zig Ziglar or Ken Davis) who speak for about an hour. This year Bill did something different. There was about an hour and forty minutes of singing and in the middle, Bill did an interview with Coach Jerry Moore, who has coached college football for 43 years, the last 19 years at Appalachian State in Boone, NC (also the hometown of the Singing News)
For the non-football fans, Appalachian state has won three consecutive NCAA Division 1-AA championships. Last season the small college pulled off one of the biggest upsets in college football history by defeating national championship contender Michigan at the "Big House" in Ann Arbor.
Coach Moore was interesting and seemed to be a fine Christian man who practiced his faith in his profession. I think any parent would be proud to have his/her son play for him.
At the morning session each artist typically sings one song, though a few sang two this morning. Bill Gaither and Ben Speer, his musical director, have a real genius for picking songs and placing them in just the right order to set the mood for the type of service they want to put on.
There were several memorable moments Saturday morning. Sonya Isaacs did a solo that left Mrs. K in tears (I believe that it was It Is Well). I particularly enjoyed Lynda Randle singing Through It All and was very moved by Ben Speer's rendition of In The Midst of It All.
I am usually the last one to criticize how an individual or group dresses, but one of the singers (a group member) was seriously fashion challenged this weekend. On Saturday night he wore a dark jacket with a bright green "Zorro like" design on the back. The stage is "in the round" so the neon Z was distracting whenever he was viewed from the back, or even the side. The same performer wore a white short sleeved T-shirt and a sleeveless silver vest with jeans on Saturday morning. I generally like more casual dress, especially at an event like this, but at some point it becomes distracting.
The highlight of the morning for me was Russ Taff's singing The Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me. This wonderful song, a No 1 country hit for Ray Price and a major blues hit for Gladys Knight and the Pips, was adapted (Jesus is the best thing that ever happened to me) to a gospel song by Russ. He was backed up by Gordon Mote, Lynda Randle, Sherri Easter and the Isaacs sisters. Russ has just the sort of voice to carry this off successfully and I really enjoyed it.
It was a great morning service, and left us ready for a Baptist nap in preparation for the evening session.

Daystar is supposed to be carring a Tribute To Dottie Rambo tomorrow, Wednesday. Scheduled times are 1:00 am EST, 12 noon EST, and 9:00 pm EST. They are supposed to be carrying some footage from the funeral service which was attended by some posters last week.

Enjoyed Dixie Echoes last night. Dinana was there and I'm sure she'll give you an excellent report later on. A surprise guest last night was Ms Eva Mae LeFevre. Talked with her a bit and told her about Santa's avatar. Mark was with her said he hardly ever visited the forums. Eva Mae sang a couple of songs during the program. Really looked great and sang great for a 91 year old. Hopeful Dinana has a video of her so everyone can see.

It was a very good concert! The highlights for me were:
1. Seeing new members Pat Barker and Wesley Smith - wow, they're good!!!
2. Stewart's nimble fingers - especially when he played Just a Little While as a piano solo.
3. Eva Mae's appearance.
4. Hearing some of the songs from their upcoming CD.
5. Talking to Stewart and Scoot after the concert.
I'll try to get back here soon with a video of Eva Mae. It'll probably be a couple of days before I get the rest of the videos posted.

Saw the Perrys tonight. Wanted to get some pics but the lighting was terrible!!! No decent pics. Well except the one we made of Matt holding Erin before the concert. The light was better in the vestibule than in the church.

Hey, DeeAnn - sorry I didn't get to see you. The "concert" I went to for Old Paths turned out to be a community outreach event which had a hay ride, moonwalk, and a slide thingy for the kids and tents provided for different ministries of the church so that the local folks could become acquainted with the church programs. The "stage" was set up on the lawn and, although not a large number of people actually sat in the audience to listen, I'm sure the folks at the different areas could hear the music. In addition to Old Paths, there was a local quartet that is just starting out and John Jones, a soloist that I've heard several times and like really well.
Even though it was hot, Old Paths performed with their usual energy and I really enjoyed both of their sets. I'll try to get some videos up this afternoon, but I'll try to get one where the Jeremy Peace (tenor) and Brandon Barry (bass) switched parts up before I leave this morning! I know y'all will enjoy it, too!!

My family had the blessing of attending a Freeman's concert last night. I know, for people who know me, this is going to sound really biased but last night's concert was the most Spirit-led concert I have attended in a long time. The presence of God was so real and so strong. If they ever come to your area, you are missing a tremendous blessing if you don't go see them.

I wish someone would post about the Kyla Rowland Pigeon River event that was at our church Thursday and Friday night in Sevierville, Tn. I had to work. Talked to our sound man that was there for the entire event and he said Thursday night was one of the best, spirit filled services he had ever seen. He just went on and on about it. I know there were supposed to be some of our SN lurkers that were supposed to be there so maybe they will venture out and tell us about the event. The Perrys were there and sang.
