Thanks guymiddle for the kind words..glad you could make it out to the concert...its always really great to meet someone from the message boards! Sadly, i did not get any video clips or pics of the night. My friends forgot the camera..and i didn't expect to get to play haha. In all seriousness, it was a true honor to even be asked. However, it was GREAT NIGHT with the kingsmen. It was held at the hart haven baptist church. We had a nice crowd. I wish more were there but those who did attend had a wonderful time. All of the kingsmen sang wonderfully, as always. The crowd was enthused with the kingsmen, giving them a standing ovation on different occasions. The guys sang a mixture of kmen standards, new songs, and songs from the past few projects. I was sort of in and out of the sanctuary doing various tasks so i missed one or two songs. Notable songs When God Ran (standing ovation) Next Cloud Meet Me at the Table Beautiful Home Old Ship of zion The new songs they sang! Glory Road (i'm biased) They sang others, but i cannot remember Oh and if you do not have the new project, it should be high on your priority list! GREAT SONGS!

Yes, they did Gospel Road....great song.....i really enjoyed Brian Hutsons singing and his testimony after he sang God Ran...it was moving....he started to "preach" a bit.... and Phillip Hughes did a great job on The Past is Past. Harold and Ray did great as well. Like i said earlier, they seemed very relaxed and had fun.

That is a great song. Not a "quartet" song, but I like it anyway.

I just got back from seeing the Poet Voices in modesto, CA!!! The concert was held outside and I think there was around 1000 people there. The concert was great!!!! I thought their blend and group harmony has improved since the GWFF( they had just added Dave Mcvay) Anyway some of the songs they did were: When I get Carried away Center of the father's will I come here to bless your name again Cooling water Wedding music Before you knew how to love me In the sky( we requested this since it is one of my father's favorite songs, and he has never seen Mitch do it live before. It was awesome) I am redeemed Champion of Love Jesus Gave me water Besides the Poet voices, the host group eternal praise, and the worship leader for Big Valley Grace performed. They also did great and made it a wonderful evening.

Saw Karen Peck & New River last night and they were on top of everything. They really had a great lineup of songs and the Holy Spirit was certainly in the Church. They had just recorded a song for a new project that Phil Cross is doing. The project will be a celebration of Phil's 25 anniversary of song writing. He is using different groups to sing the songs he has written. He should have the project ready by NQC if not a little before. All vocals had to be recorded by the 20th of June.

I attended the first night of the 2008 Singing in the Foothills last night (6/20/08) in Wilkesboro NC. There was a large crowd on hand to hear the great talent on the program. It was perfect weather and even a better atmosphere for the artists with the crowd. Here are the highlights in order of appearance. *Victoria Huggins - This young lady does quite a bit of concert events in NC. She opened the program with (3) songs. The last several times I have seen her she has done Martina McBride's "Anyway". *Whisnants - I really enjoy this trio. They really got things going with their set, highlights included "Next Time That You See Me", "Light Of The Lamb", "The Past Is A Promise" and the crowd was standing when they arrived at their closing number "New Day Dawning". Easily one of my favorite mixed trios in Southern Gospel. *Ivan Parker - Another NC favorite. I see Ivan Parker probably more than I really want to (I don't mean that in a bad way). It seems like he is everywhere. "I Choose" is probably my recent favorite song by Ivan. I am glad this song garnered the attention it did this year. Ivan also had the crowd on it's feet with his closing number "Midnight Cry". With the crowd reaction everytime I see Ivan, it isn't a surpise he is continually awarded favorite soloist. *Gold City - WOW!! Did I say WOW!! This was my favorite set of the night. Gold City opened with the Hemphills classic "I Cast My Bread Upon The Water". That is all I needed to hear and I was ready for their entire set. They followed that with one of my all time favoirte GC tunes "One Scarred Hand". Aaron McCune has turned into a really fine bass singer. He was hitting some low notes last night on "Turn Your Back". I noticed last night more than prior times I have seen the group, but Aaron's gestures on stage reminded me of the gestures by Richard Sturben (Oak Ridge Boys) on stage. Steve tore it up on "In My Robe Of White" and Bruce turned in the best performance of the night with "I'm Rich". This is probably the most I have enjoyed Gold City in several years. *Collingsworth Family - This group continues to build new fans everywhere they go. This was their first appearance in this area of NC, but after the reaction last night I am sure it won't be their last. Kim's piano playing had the crowd both mesmerized and on their feet in thunderous applause. This group is full of talent. The girls even did a little fiddle playing at the delight of the NC crowd. I enjoyed the songs "I Can Trust Jesus" and "He Already Sees" the most. I have seen this group on other occassions but the more I see them, the more they seem like they should be playing to crowds at a theater in Branson. *Booth Brothers - Another great set. I don't remember the last time that I saw them that they didn't have a great set. Highlights were "What A Morning" (this was the first time I heard them do this live; it was great), "Look For Me At Jesus Feet", "The Night Before Easter" and the crowd was on their feet for the closing "Still Feeling Fine". With the success this group is currently experiencing, I see them having a great year at this year's Fan Awards. Side Note: The only downside was they didn't have an official intermission. I went to buy Gold City's new CD and no one was at the table because when the Booth Brothers ended they started the final segment of the program which included all group's on the stage. I didn't stick around, so the CD will have to come later.

I was able to see the Inspriations last night in Ryner, VA. They did close to a 90 minute program. The singing was great with some old & new numbers. Archie was back with them this year. Last year he was not traveling with them & they did not know if he would be back, but he was last night & it was good to hear him. I also want to mention Matt Dibdler's nephew that has been missing in action for over a year. We need to keep that family in our prayers. It has been so hard for them to not know. If anyon does not know the story, please, go to the Inspriation web page & read the story. Thank God the young man does know the Lord.

I thought Bruce was fantastic, and every single one of them was featured and did a teriffic job. Really, really enjoyed the concert. We also saw Triumphant. They were great, as usual. They never give anything less than a great concert. Maybe Dinana will get on here and give a better write-up of Saturday night's concert. It was great to see DeeAnn and the baby!!!!

The concert was AWESOME, had to enjoy part from the back as Erin doesn't like sitting on the 2nd row. She can't see. Front row and she is good to go for the night but not the 2nd row. I wondered where you were!! We had a great time at the concert Saturday. I didn't realize that there were going to be three artists. Mike Upright (soloist) was first on the program. I hadn't heard him live before although I had heard his songs on the radio. He's a tall guy with a big voice! He's got a real country sound - but not twangy - both in his voice and the instrumentation on his tracks. He sang eleven songs in his first set and I got several videos that I'll try to get processed and uploaded to youtube today or tomorrow. My favorites were He Is Risen - he said it was an old Wendy Bagwell song - and Love Letter in the Sand - about the adulterous woman that the crowd wanted to stone and Jesus was writing in the sand. Gold City was next and I was delighted that they did some of the songs from the new album including I Cast My Bread on the Water; Turn Your Back (Aaron did a great job on this but I still prefer the Triumphant version!!); What Children Believe (I really liked this one!); and When Jesus Saves - a very loud, in-your-face, brassy, non-traditional song. I did get a video of this song so you can hear it for yourself!!! I've gotta say here that all of the music at this whole concert was VERY loud - of course, I was sitting right up under the speakers on the 5th row! They also did several of my very favorites - When I Get Carried Away, Teach Me Lord to Wait, Midnight Cry, In My Robe of White, I'm Not Giving Up. All of the guys sounded great and I really enjoyed hearing Bruce for the first time and meeting Captain_Smooth (their bus driver!). Josh did a great job on How Majestic Is Your Name, too. Then came Triumphant!! I see these guys a lot and many times their program is basically the same as the previous concert, but I never get tired of hearing them! It's hard to list favorites, but I really enjoy Clayton's rendition of Welcome to Heaven. WOW!! What a great song and a great singer! He gives it everything he's got every time he sings it. They also did "The Cloud He's Coming Back On" from the new Intermission album, and I like the TQ version better than the Kingsmen version! Great song! David and Jeff had the crowd on their feet with Goodbye, World, Goodbye. They are fabulous together on the harmonica and keyboard. Speaking of Jeff, he did two solo selections and was really fantastic. At the last couple of concerts where David has sung For God So Loved, they have followed that with He Loves Me and I just think that combination is SOOO effective. Eric asked the audience to join them on He Loves Me and I heard lots of singing. It was a great concert!

Saw Gold City again Sunday night. A larger church in Anderson SC, Concord Baptist. What wonderful gracious people there! We came in early to get a good seat and the folks there offered us soft drinks, snacks, showed us where the restrooms, nursery, fellowship building, everything was located. Came by several times to be sure we had everything we needed. They were wonderful. We got to listen to the guys practice a few of their new songs when we first got there, that was fun. I've seen them now in about every setting since Bruce came, small auditoriums and churches, large auditoriums and churchs, small crowds, big crowds, and I have to say they do a great job wherever they are. Last night they changed up the talking a bit. Bruce introduced a song and Daniel introduced Preach The Word (Steve normally does it when we see them). I like the fact that everything is always the same. The variety both in songs and some of the intros is nice!

Saturday night Bill and I went to Lawrenceburg, Tn to see some of the Gaither Friends. Gov. Phil Bredesen declaired Saturday to be The National Speer Family Day. Mary Tom, Rosa Nell and Ben were given gifts from the Gov, Senator Bob Corker and The Mayor of Lawrenceburg. They also receive coon skin caps from the city which they proudly wore. We heard great music!!. The Speers sang Rain. They've still got it!! We also heard from the Kelly's from Lawrenceburg. They have really got some great voices. Woody and Vonnie Wright, Mike Allen, Stephen Hill, Reggie and Ladye Love, and Ladye Loves Dad. They all got their boxes. Sorry Paul Jackson!! Ask Mike for a cookie. There is a Woody shaped hole in Nashville!! We miss him here.

Saw the Inspirations in the mega-metropolis that is Rock Hill, SC on Friday Night. Pretty standard show for them. No Darren, and I didn't get to ask if he was gone, but I'm taking it as yes he is. Typical set list for them, though they did break out "A Rose Among the Thorns", which I haven't heard live in 25 years or so. It's not the same without the steel guitar though, but Melton on the second verse solo does work really well. Picked up the new album, which I haven't had a chance to listen to yet. They did three cuts off of it, which were all really good. I've never had a bad experience at one of their concerts.
