We went to both nights of the Singing In the Foothills. Friday night my mom and I just went. It was an awesome show! I loved everyone!
Saturday night my dad got to go as well and my puppy, Kali! I didnt see too much of Saturday nights show. We were third row and Kali couldnt take the music. So I took her out and went out to talk with Lauren for a bit till I just couldnt hold Kali anymore. So I took her back to my mom and I went back out with Lauren for a while. My arm was hurting so bad from holding her. My moms like never have a baby then. haha.
Lauren kept getting dust in her contacts so she had to go back to the bus and get out of the dust. So then I went out and walked with my dad who was walking Kali. He was getting tired so I took over until the Talleys went on. I went back in to listen to them and she was getting restless so half way through their set my dad took her out. After them I went out and walked with him till he got tired and I took over with her until the finale.

So I didnt see much of the show...Just heard it. But Friday night was awesome! I love the Whisnants and the Booth Brothers.

I saw Brian Free and Assurance last night in a small baptist church called Gap Creek in Claiborne County TN. They were incredible. They did old standards like O What a Savior, The Lovely name of Jesus, and of course Brian's classic Robe of White, and then alot of thier new stuff.. I have to say, I think I have found my new favorite group. I asbolutely love Jeremy Lyle live. He is the best young bass singer I have heard, and live he is 10 times better!!! The whole group was awesome. It lasted about 2 hours and was in a church that had 14 rows of pews, so everything was nice and cozy.
No admission fee, only love offering, great singing, and wonderful speaking by Brian...

Will be on the lookout to see them as often as I can.

youngartist -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/26/2008 7:54:33 PM)

Glad to hear there's a new BF&A fan! In my opinion, they're 1 of the very best out there right now. They are tied with the Kingdom Heirs for my current favorite group! Brian is hands-down my favorite singer on the road, and Jeremy is the best young bass I know of - especially live. [:)]

BillBaileyBFAFan -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/26/2008 8:55:39 PM)

It's too bad Jeremy is only on 1 cd and zero DVDs right now. I recorded thier Front Row Live the other night and it's great, but man nothing beats Jeremy's low "Long as I got King Jesus" line at the end of the song live....it sounds incredible live...especially 3 rows back!!!

BillBaileyBFAFan -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/26/2008 9:01:11 PM)

In honor of my terrific, very blessed experience last night with an anointed group, and my new found favorites, I have changed my login.
The Kingsmen have long been my favorite group, but with the current lineup lacking in some areas, BFA is now my number 1 Quartet, with Gold City at number 2 and the Kingsmen sadly number 3. The boys from Asheville need to get on the ball!!!!

robertyork -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/27/2008 6:00:49 PM)

Had a great time last night at Top of River in Gadsden. Food was great and Chuck Wagon Gang and Relations Quartet were also great. Nearly all the tables were full and the booths were also full. This is a great place for an evening of food and SG music.

prt3348 -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/27/2008 9:49:04 PM)

We also had a great time last night at Top of the River. We were honored and blessed to open the program for the Chuck Wagon Gang. Hope everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks to all that attended.
We will be at Plum Springs Baptist Church at Eastaboga, AL this Sunday
afternoon June 29, 1:30 PM. Church is just north of US Hwy 78 on Plum Springs Rd. Turn R on Mudd St, and then left on Plum Springs Rd. Lunch @ noon. YA"LL COME

Ok, I'm tired and this is going to be short.

Gold City Homecoming Thursday night - Wow, all I can say is WOW!!!! MTT opened up and did a tremendous job! Gold City sang next and I just love Bruce! Well, I love Danny, Steve, Aaron & Josh too but I love Bruce's voice!

After intermission Jay (his choir from Hillcrest was there in force), Jonathan (great tan - working in the outdoors agrees with him!) Mark and Tim (love the beard!) hit the stage and they were awesome!!!! (more on this later)

The Cathedrals Remembered - Ok, Jacob was there but he did not sing. That's for all the folks wondering. Danny opened up as usual and he was sounding great tonight- oh that was last night now! [:D] MTT was next and they were definitely on thier A game as well. Legacy Five was next Erin doesn't see them that much and they had her bouncing to a LOT of their up tempo songs. Greater Vision finished the first round and the crowd definitely loved them. Second round another former Cathedral that was in the crowd was recognized, Steve Lee and they had him come to the stage to sing 'I Met The Master'. They did a lot of the Cats favorites and I'll write more on this when I've had some sleep but I have to say it was too of the best nights of SGM I've heard in a LONG time!!!

youngartist -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/28/2008 1:01:43 AM)

Ok, I hope SOMEBODY is getting YouTube videos of this GC event?!?

Wow, good videos Dinana! Thanks for the links. Jay Parrack is still as crazy as ever. [:D]

Did I mention that version GC is pretty much my all-time favorite group?

"Current lineup lacking"? "Need to get on the ball?"

Ok, details. IMO, the current group is the best the Kingsmen have sounded vocally in YEARS.

robertyork -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/28/2008 9:55:08 AM)

Great videos of the BEST version of Gold City. They still have it.

Wish we were there but can't sit outside in the heat to watch.

Yeah this I would LOVE to hear!!!!! I have followed The Kingsmen for years and I would be VERY interested in where you feel the Kingsmen are lacking!!! But then I guess it is easy to make vague statements that give no specifics and cause others to wonder what EXACTLY you mean. So please humor us and favor us with your opinion. It seems everyone is a critic these days. Hey.....do you know if BFAA charge to sing at churches?????

oksgfan -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/28/2008 2:21:42 PM)

Dinana,
Thanks so much for sharing these Gold City videos!! They were awesome and really helped fill the void of not being able to attend this homecoming. Granted, there's nothing like being there in person, but when that's not possible, it sure does help to at least catch of glimpse of the great singing you heard.

These videos brought back some great memories of the concerts we attended when the group consisted of Jay, Jonathan, Mark & Tim. What a great team and a great group of guys!

Thanks again, Dinana!

I disagree. I dont think they sound nearly as good as they did a few years back. The lineup was rock solid in the middle 90's. The switch from Chris Collins to Jerry martin was flawless. Jerry was wonderful.
Then when Bryan left and Randy Crawford came in, again wonderful..and no fall off.
Then Derrick Boyd came in and Tim Surrett came back. Tim's voice was not nearly as strong as it was in the past (as an acid reflux problem confirmed) Derrick was good, but not Kingsmen good.
Jeremy Peace came aboard and was excellent, but then came Phillip Hughes, and combined with Tim's weakening voice, The Past has Passed was a disappointing album.
Tony Peace came in to replace Tim on Good Good God and wasnt a terribly good Baritone. You could almost hear him breathing when he would sing on alot of slower songs. It seemed as if he had to put alot of effot into it, just to get it out.
Bryan came back and of course was great, but Phillip is still there.
Jeremy out and Harold in. No missed beat here. Harold is probably the best since Jerrry Martin, and maybe since Chris Collins.

And, I don't know if the church paid BFA, but I know the crowd was not charged. Charged up maybe!!! especially during "Long as I got King Jesus", and "Jesus will PIck You Up"

oksgfan,
Did you see the list of concerts that Dinana's planning to go to for the rest of the summer (in the concerts you plan to attend thread). We should get LOTS of video!!! [:D]

Hope you're doing well. Don't see you on here very often!

guymiddle -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/28/2008 3:05:19 PM)

Someone on this thread takes every "negative" comment about the Kingsmen way too personally. One of the reasons we have this forum is to post our opinions. Naurally many will not agree. I personally love the Kingsmens current line up. What i like the most seems to be their spirit and message. They are no longer Big and Live, but i like the new Kingsmen. I especially like Brian Hutson. Phillip has grown on me and i am liking him better and better. Harold is good. These are just opinions and while it is OK to agree or disagree, should we be attacking anyone who doesn't feel the same we we feel?

No we should not. By the way, I love the current Kingsmen lineup. [;)]

That said, BF&A has been my favorite group for several years now, and trust me, I have personally heard from Brian that they will go to a church for a love offering. I'm sure they don't even cover their costs all the time, but Brian said they'll never turn someone down at the door who needs to hear the Gospel because they don't have money for a ticket. I've been at BF&A love offering concerts - I know. [;)]

BTW, how many groups don't ever charge to sing in a church? What do they drive their buses on? Water? [;)]

GVfan,
Yes, I saw the lineup of concerts Dinana plans to attend and my first thought was, I'm living in the wrong part of the country! You gals have a great time and I'll enjoy all the videos!!

I have not had a lot of time to be on the message board lately. I've been working out of town since early May so my time online is very limited. Hopefully that will change soon!

Take care and enjoy the concerts!

That concert the other night was terrific. They really seem genuinely concerned for the souls of the audience. There was even an altar call, while they did the song "What Will You Choose" off their new CD.
It was moving to see a group that cared so much.
Brian spoke for probably 10-15 minutes, before the altar call and it was terrific.
And by saying that, I'm not saying other groups don't care. I have just not seen something like that before..and it was nice.

BillBaileyBFAFan -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (6/28/2008 4:22:32 PM)

It's not fair..Some of you folks are so lucky. [:)]I don't have the money or time to see as many concerts as I'd like.[:)]
I hope to save up and buy a Dollywood pass and spend alot of October weekends there watching the SG Jubilee (Although I dont think its called that any more)[:)]
