The Roarks - I Know There Is a God

Tears Are a Language - Jim Brady/Booth Brothers

The Secret Place - Michael Booth

What a Lovely Name - Kim and Dean Hopper and Ivan Parker

Last night (Sat) I went to my first Brian Free and Assurance Concert and all can say is WOW those guys are great LIVE. They sang three or four new songs, the one that got me though was Oh What a Savior. I had never heard them sing that song and wow was I amazed. Brian is truly blessed, he is also a very nice person I got a chance to talk a little with him he gave my boys L5 a nice complement[:D]( To me) Overall it was an incredible night.

I would definitely recommend going to one of their concerts. I spent quite a bit of money at their product stand lol, I got a picture of the group that they all autographed for me. They are a real blessing to Southern Gospel Music, I hope they will always worship God the way that they do.

I seen them Wednesday for the first time (had seen Brian before but only him solo) and I was equally impressed with Oh What a Saviour. Did they do "What a Lovely Name"? they started off with it Wednesday, and boy, when Brian hit the high note in that song, I knew why he'd won so many awards!!! and how bout Jeremy's ending on Long as I got King Jesus...can you say low??????[:D]

That was neat!

I've been to that church before (for a MM concert), and it does lean rather contemporary.

Oh man! I've been wanting to see Mark Bishop! We saw The Bishops a few times, but haven't seen Mark as a soloist yet.

That looks like a fun night!

sgpianoman -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/1/2008 12:07:17 AM)

i know mini reviews of the GC Homecoming have been posted but i wanted to add my mini review.
I had the privilege of going Thurs and Fri night and i enjoyed both nights tremendously. It was really great to have gold circle seats on the front row too hehe

Thursday night was a great night of excitement. The mark trammel trio did an excellent job of getting the concert going. They sang many fan favorites, including turning Eric loose on "glory road". Other favorite songs for me were " Weary at the well", "once upon a cross", "won't it be wonderful there", ect.
I always enjoy hearing and talking with the MTT. They have a new dvd that I picked up...very enjoyable.

Next was Gold City and of course they did a wonderful job singing. The new line up is EXCELLENT. No doubt in my mind that Bruce will be a great addition. They sang mostly new songs off the "moment of truth" project, which is a TREMENDOUSLY good cd.

after intermission was the Gold City Reunion.

You could feel the electricity in the crowd when Jay, John, Mark and Tim took the stage. Jay can still do sang some tenor!! Jonathan has not lost a step...he can still pull off that moon walk. Mark as solid as always. And tim, well he just gets better with age. They came on stage with Get up, Get ready. Really the entire set was a total hit. I wish they had more time to sing..i could have stayed there for a long time! Other songs i remember "He said", "when he calls me i'll fly away", "under control", "I'm not giving up". A wonderful night!!
,
The next night
Started off with a "pre concert" with the overtones.

The main concert started about 7:15 with the Old Paths and WOW...they blew the roof off. They sang some old crowd favorites and songs off of their "today" cd. The Old Paths are one of the best quartets in the industry right now. Favorites they did: "He chose the tree", "He will see you through", "Oh, bless his name", "Living in Canaan (with Jeremy busting a double high c at the end)" Awesome set!

The booth brothers came on and gave there all in a shortened set. I love the booth brothers smooth harmony and great stage presence. They opened with "where no one stands alone". The rainstorm moved in and so there was a weather delay...so the booth brothers returned afterwards and finished the set. Favorites: "I would", "He saw it all", "Hallellujah meeting", "Look for me at Jesus feet"

Aaron wilburn was the guest emcee and he sang a few of his comedy songs. It was a very enjoyable change of pace.

Next the Gold city came up and finished the night with a bang. I don't believe i've heard GC sing with so much enthusiasm. It was AWESOME. They sang a good mixture of old gold city songs and new ones. We were clapping, standing, shouting, throwing babies ect. Bruce gave one of the most excellent renditions of Midnight Cry! Steve Ladd sang his song "When Jesus saves" and the crowd loved it. He even leaped off the stage and went out into the crowd...it was great! They sang so many other songs that night...it just got better and better. No doubts that gold city is still the gold city we all love. Pick up the new cd AND new dvd they have out!

just my small review.

I saw The Imperials for the first time yesterday morning and I was pretty amazed! When we went we weren't sure if they were going to sing a few songs or have the whole service, and it turned out that they had the whole service. It was so nice hearing Scott Allen singing with them, and, no, I don't know whether he's going to be permanent with them or not! They sang several songs from the Back to the Roots CD and several from other CD's. I'm beating myself up BIG TIME because I wasn't watching my memory card and I ran out of memory during Arise, My Love. Bad, bad mistake. That song was fabulous! I'll post again when I get some videos uploaded to youtube.

Seaton -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/7/2008 7:30:38 AM)

I went last night 07/06/08 to Catawba NC to see Driven Quartet. I have been impressed with this vocal line-up back when they toured as the Anchormen. They have only gotten better. The group is currently in between tenors. They had a fill in last night until the new tenor (sorry I forgot his name) starts.

Will Lane continues to impress with his solid bass singing. I rank him among the best young bass singers on the road today (in the same category with Aaron McCune and Jeremy Lile). He deserves more recognition. The group turned in a solid 1hr 45min set that consisted of old and new material.

Highlights on the night included "Thanks To Calvary" (Will did an outstanding job on this song), "Between A Rock And A Hard Place", "Marriage Supper", "Press On" (a new song featuring baritone Chad Smith, a great performance), "God Shall Wipe Away All Tears", "Feel Like Running My Last Mile Home".

I highly recommend checking Driven out anytime they are in your area. They are a young quartet with a very bright future.

I've only seen Driven in concert once, and Will was out that time. I may have to drive over to SC on Friday . . . .

I attended the All Night Sing in Bonifay FL on Saturday night. This was the 56th year and the first time ever to be held indoors. It was a good time to move indoors because it stormed the first couple of hours of the concert. The line up was: Dixie Echoes, Freemans, Michael Combs, Tally Trio, Triumphant Quartet, and Jeff & Sheri Easter. It was a good night.

I was going to post some links to videos from the latest concerts I've attended, but there are a bunch, so it'll be easier if you just click on the youtube link in my signature. Then when you get to the profile page, just click on the number where it says Videos (155) that is beneath the video on the top right hand side of the page. You'll see all of the videos with the latest ones first.

Spoken 4 was energized as they took the stage in Rector, AR, Sunday evening. They began their concert with "There's A King On The Way" featuring baritone Jeremy Wilkerson, which was an excellent way to start the evening with a very pertinent msg! Spoken 4's bass, Cecil Stringer, hit some rock bottom notes that evening. Some of the songs he was featured on were: Hold Me, Beautiful Life & Have A Little Talk - hitting double-low C's with ease which thoroughly pleased the audience!

Jon Charles Taggart, lead singer, gave a heart-felt introduction of an original song titled "I Believe," that challenged each and every person sitting in the audience. As the group sang "How Great Thou Art", he came in singing a verse with such power and clarity that you FELT the conviction of the words he was singing. Those of you not familiar with him will come to know that he is one awesome lead singer! He's very enjoyable on the old spiritual "Swing Down Chariot".

Sunday evening was the first night Spoken 4 performed their new radio single "He's My Song" which features tenor Thomas Griffin. Talk about a "chill bump" song! ~ when he sings the second verse:

And when at last, my armors gone,
my cares are past, my seed I've sown,
I'll get my crown .....and that's when I'll finally sit down -
RIGHT BESIDE MY LORD
GOD'S PERFECT GRACE -
I'LL REACH UP AND TOUCH HIS FACE
AND SAY
"I'VE LOVED YOU FOR SO LONG" -
YOU KNOW
YOU'RE MY SONG!

The thought SENDS CHILLS UP YOUR SPINE!

It's also a fitting song for ALL THE GROUPS on the road who minister in song!

They ended the evening with the old Happy Goodman's song "Living In Canaan Land" and the audiences reaction was so that they did a couple of encores. What a GREAT time we all had!

If Spoken 4 is in your area, don't miss the opportunity to hear this quartet! If they aren't in your area, inquire about getting them to your area ~ you WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! Spoken 4 is as good as, if not better, than most big name groups out there. I saw this group several times last year and once so far this year. Their vocal ability is beyond words! I can testify that these guys can take ANY song and sing it better than the original artist ~ and that's no "hog-wash"!!! Once you've seen them in concert you'll understand why, after only one year of ministry together, they were nominated as a 2008 top ten Horizon Group of the Year! This is one fabulous quartet!
