I've only seen Driven in concert once, and Will was out that time. I may have to drive over to SC on Friday . . . .

Don't want to offend anyone but I have seen them before and in my honest opinion they are not worth the drive over to SC...they are only what I would consider ok.

I did get to go see the Dove Brothers recently and they were very good. What can you say about Jerry Martin...he is just an absolutely wonderful tenor singer. Eric was out so Ronnie Bright was filling in for him. He did a wonderful job. Personally I think he is one of the best baritone singers out there.

Dinana -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/12/2008 10:15:00 PM)

I saw the Dove Brothers tonight and a man named Charles Story was filling in for Eric. They hope that Eric will be back from his shoulder surgery by about the first of August. Charles did a very, very good job, too. I guess it's really nice to have access to some great singers when one of their regulars has to be out for a while.

I've driven to see Driven on many occasions and will do so again. I always enjoy the group. [:)]

I enjoyed Driven when I saw them but other people I know have said they weren't as good as they thought they would be. I didn't drive over to SC on Friday, but I'd still like to see them again and will keep watching their schedule.

I went to a Talley Trio concert tonight. They just get better every time I see them. I enjoy their concerts very much & would like to see them more.

robertyork -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/13/2008 6:45:09 AM)

As Dinana reported about the Dove Brothers Concert. Charles Story was filling in for Eric. Charles is a radio DJ from AL and he sings with a local group. Charles is a regular at Hoofers and emcees the programs there. It was a great evening and I know Dinana made some videos and she'll have them posted later. Both Hopes Journey and The Dove Brothers did an outstanding job last night.

G.I.MOM -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/13/2008 3:40:21 PM)

We took the whole family to Dollywood, but a sad turn of events. No Kingdom Heirs. So, our concert was singing vegetables. Just as well with 6 under the age of 6

robertyork -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/13/2008 3:55:44 PM)

They are off of Friday and Saturday... Bad time to go...Guess they figure nothing but kids on the weekend there and they don't care about the KH.

I'd say a great time to introduce them to SGM! Seriously many folks take short weekend trips to Pigeon Forge and Friday or Saturday are the only days they get a chance to get there.

Dinana -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/14/2008 8:08:50 AM)

I thought that the Kingdom Heirs used to be off on Thursday but were there on Friday and Saturday. Is that new this year?

robertyork -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/14/2008 8:43:52 AM)

The KH days off changes with the season. During kid's fest they are off on Friday & Saturday. Some months the park is closed on Tues & Thurs so that's their days off. If you plan on going you just need to check their schedule on their website. They don't have the times, but they have the days they are there.

On thing I forgot to mention about the concert on Saturday night with the Dove Brothers was the fact of distinguished guest list.

The wife of Doy Ott was present.
Norma Crews the wife of Bob Crews was there.
Mark Fuller, piano player.
Doug Ford radio station manager
.

You never know who will be next to show up at a concert in our area.

That's for sure!!

We had a wonderful time in Gadsden, AL last night seeing Triumphant Quartet. We had an overflow crowd for dinner and singing. It's not an ideal location for a concert but the boys were great and the food was delicious! Of course, Bobby and Carol were there, too, as was Buddy Burton from the New Florida Boys and Eric Bennett's momma. Eric always sings even better when his momma is there!! We had very poor lighting (it's a restaurant, for crying out loud!!) so I didn't get any videos . . .

deblawson -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/19/2008 12:04:29 PM)

We saw Ivan last night in Fort Payne, Alabama. Well folks, let me tell you, God showed up and stayed a while! A local group called New Grace sang a few songs before Ivan and they were really, really good. Some of the songs Ivan sang were, God Bless the U.S.A., You Can't Take My Crown, I'll Do the Miracle, It's True, Sweet Beulah Land, The Best Hallelujah in the House, Haven of Rest, I Choose, I'd Rather Have Jesus, Amazing Grace,The Midnight Cry, I Can Only Imagine, and When I Get Carried Away.
At the end of the concert, Ivan gave the invitation and prayed a wonderful prayer. It was a great night of praise and worship!

I saw the Inspirations, Primitive Quartet, Singing Cookes, Singing Echoes and Wilma Smith last night in Cleveland,TN. It was very spiritual, they all did a good job. Was anyone off this forum there? There was a good crowd. Very hot til the sun went down.

guymiddle -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/19/2008 3:38:51 PM)

1974Dorene,
were you at the Singing Echoes event? I have been in previous years and think it is a beautiful setting. Their land has been in the family for many years. I remember the Kingsmen were headling one night and a thunderstorm came up....so they stopped for a while, then when they restarted a long, loud train came barrreling through (the tracks are just a few hundered feet away from the stage). I just love the Singing Echoes when they get "cranked up" on their home stage!

I attended Friday night. It had been 2 years since I had been. Same train tracks still there. All the groups did a good job.

I just got back from a Mark Trammell Trio concert. Great night--I'll be posting a review on my blog in a day or two.

Dinana -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/21/2008 5:53:06 AM)

I saw Tanner and Soul'd Out last night and they were wonderful. I got lots of video and I'll try to get some of them posted tonight or tomorrow.

robertyork -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/21/2008 6:52:26 AM)

Carol and Myself were there (Soul'd Out) to. It was a great evening. Think you'll be seeing them back at Sunrise. People there really enjoyed them.

Neat! I'd love to see a review, if you have the time.[:)]

Seaton -> RE: What Recent Concerts Have You Attended? (7/21/2008 7:25:34 AM)

I went Saturday 7/19/08 to the local high school to see Ivan Parker. The event was hosted by regional artist the Gospelaires. The Gospelaires are a good regional artist that I have seen before. Ivan Parker did a great job Saturday night. I believe this was the fourth time this year I have seen him considering all the times he rolls through NC. I'll have to say Saturday's performance was his best. The highlight of the evening for me was his performance of "I Choose".

I love that song! I was listening to Ivan's "That Was Then, This Is Now" (I think I've got all the words right) on the way home from church yesterday morning.

This is all I've had a chance to upload so far, but I think you'll enjoy it!!

Michael and Tanner on the keyboard
