Oh, and it's SO true! I never had to get used to some of it - because we have ALL the same WX in FL. But, the "sayings" are just classic....and I had to learn them too when I lived there for 18 months while I finished my degree back in 94/95. I was north of Dallas.

I've never been to Texas. I'll have to print that out if I ever go.  I'll have Brian read it later tonight...I'm sure he'll get a kick out of it. He lived in TX until he was 13. He lived in Texarkana.
Oh, and I'm glad you have the pool all to yourselves! LOL

Oh.... I forgot one:
If you take a shower... and the air conditioning ISN'T on.... you will have to dry your body at least twice.... maybe three if you are too slow in getting your clothes on... 
We stayed in/drove through Texarkana on the way here... for some reason.... all I can remember is I wished I could have slept in!!  lol!!

Oh, the first question I got asked when I moved for school was when I was getting both the boots and hat. I loved both!!!!!

Interesting Rach! Here are some things that people should know about Boston.
*There is a term "you can't get there from here!" which means that it is so difficult to explain, that its better off figuring it out on your own.
*Jaywalking is not just hobby here, its a pastime!
*People sing Sweet Caroline at the Red Sox game during the top of the 7th inning.
*Nobody actually pahks their cah at havhed yahd.
*On Boston Common, you can feed the squirrils and they expect to be fed as well.
*There is a major street named Massachusetts Avenue, but not a single person ever calls it that. It is simply known as Mass Ave. instead. If you want a sure-fire way of knowing that someone is from out of town, they ask where they can find the earlier.
*The Charlie Card and Ticket on the public transit system was indeed inspired by the Kingston Trio song "Charlie of The MTA".
*No one calls the train system the subway, it is simply know as the T instead.
Those are just s few things that I can think of anyway.

Good morning Sharon-Marie, yes its a great song! I am glad you like it! They did another parody at one point called Super Skier, which was in the same vain musically, albeit not the same concept at all.

One thing that Texas has in plentiful abundance is wide open spaces. Why then is it that the on-ramps and the off-ramps for the Interstate highways are only 50 feet long?

I'm not sure I want to get boots and a hat, Trish... Could you imagine me wearing an outfit like that?? lol!!
I used to have them back in Junior High School when I showed horses.... so western attire is not really that strange to me...
Ray.... I'm baffled by the road system.... I thought you were supposed to work up to the speed limit on the on-ramps.... but apparently... you need to be GOING the speed limit (70 mph) by the time you are at the end of the on-ramp....
.... I'm kinda glad my car has good pickup!!! :D
Although... I was just thinking this morning.... "Goodbye to living a day without going 70...." 
I really am a small town kinda gal.... 
I'm here for a reason, though... so I'm completely thankful for all I have....

Uh oh - I think this calls for a trip to a local retailer here and getting into both and getting a pic. In all honesty - I loved both of them while I was out there, and have a running joke with Jim about them too.

Just a note to self today: Bring socks to work.
My building is freeezing!!! I'm wearing a skirt... a long sleeved top... sandals  ... I brought a sweater... which I will have to get out and put on.... but me toesies are FREEZING!!!!! 
lol! 
I love my office... I have two huge windows and I can see out into the back courtyard... there is a huge pond there... with about 5 or 6 ducks running around... there are benches to sit on... trees swaying in the gentle breeze... I'm sooo blessed.
I found out that I may be able to begin working my actual job tomorrow... Monday at the latest... I'm glad... Biding my time and filing is getting old!!
I'm learning the ins and outs of Filemaker Pro it's easier than Access... but I have to get used to it... I'm learning a lot... maybe I'll be brave enough to open up the work database today....
You know... some of the singles have been doing a study in Haggai.... we are reading the entire book every night/morning for a week... Today, attitude adjustment came to my understanding... and it made me think of work...
Here... people come in... and just start working... there is not a lot of communication between offices... no one listens to music... everyone keeps to themselves... and leaves when it's time to go.
No morning greetings or good nights... it's weird to me...
I'm thinkin' it's time for an attitude adjustment!!!
Every morning when I come in... I walk around to all the offices and greet everybody.... I'm sure they think I'm a nut...
Hopefully.... the friendliness will catch on!!! Just like Z and Joshua!
I think it would be fun for each of us to tackle an attitude adjustment issue.... don't you?
