I wish I could talk to him about setting another date, Sarah. He's pretty grouchy though, and I'm kinda scared to bring it up. He's got issues when he smokes, so it just makes him ten times worse when he's withdrawing most of the day except those 5 cigarettes. I try to bring it up when he's just had a smoke, but he is also quitting weed too, so that makes him grouchy. I told him he ought to just quit cigarettes for now, then when he feels comfortable to quit the weed. Or, vice versa, but both at the same time is like Mr. Hyde. It's just really hard to talk to him about anything. He kinda has this idea that he can do it on his own. I signed him up for BecomeAnEx.org, but he just kinda skimmed through and didn't do the exercises or watch the videos. There are forums on there too. And, honestly, this may sound kinda selfish...I don't want him to sign up on here. This is where I get the majority of my support about HIM. KWIM? Can't really go to my family and friends because they know him, and that wouldn't be fair to him.

He smoked cigarettes too, and felt really bad about it because I am allergic to them, but we kept telling him not to think of the negatives...his body wasn't ready to give that up yet, he needed to focus on staying clean from the drugs first. Anyway, he tried a few times to quit smoking too and never succeeded because of the quitting drugs too at the same time. I will add that to my prayers about Robert though...it's a hard thing to do. (I personally would encourage him to quit the drugs, not the cigarettes, more...if he had to pick one).

Yeah, you guys are probably right. Originally he was only going to quit smoking cigarettes because marijuana is "all natural" and "doesn't cause cancer". But, my feeling on it is that it's illegal. On the other hand if he continues smoking cigarettes and just quits the weed, it will tempt me to smoke too. When he goes off to smoke weed, I don't think anything of it because it's been over 3 years since I have, so it's not a temptation for me. Plus, the rule is me and the kids better not be able to see it, hear it or smell it and it can't be in the house or car. Oh well, anyway, he broke down last night and bought both. So, he's back to square one. But, I'm still quit. I've been smoke free for 12 days. I've saved $29.88, and not smoked 187 cigarettes and have not lost 935 minutes.

So the big 72 hours mark is 15 minutes away. I've not smoked 60 cigarettes, and have saved NOK 210 in three days (ap. 40 US$, a pack of 20 costs ap.13 - 14 US$ here). Time for bed, we'll se how it goes tomorrow. And thanx for listening!

Tomorrow marks 2 Years tobacco-free for me. Two years since I Closed the Door on that nasty, toxic chemical-laced weed that controlled my every waking hour and any plans I had for future events. I couldn't even envision 100 days quit when I started this journey to reclaim my life from the Nicotine Slave Master. All I could do was deal with one crave, one hour, one day at a time. Enough time has gone by that I could go on my merry way without posting in this thread, but I continue to do so in order to remember that, while triggers are beaten and craves a distant memory for me, I cannot ever again be stupid enough to think I can have just one "for old times sake" or just to be social. Tobacco will always be a deadly addiction that can claim my life again should I ever think I'm stronger than it. I also feel a sense of obligation and honor to offer encouragement to those who are thinking about and those who are already involved in regaining freedom from tobacco and nicotine. There are no words to express what it's like to wake up without a nicotine fix on my mind or without its demands controlling me all day long. FREEDOM is worth the battles that eventually win the war. Day 632 nic-FREE. 729 tobacco-FREE!

72 hours are over-rated. If you remember Scrat (the nut-nutty rat from ICE AGE I & II), he has a near-death experience in ICE AGE II where he goes to nut-heaven. That's how I feel about a cigrette now!!!! Ah, well. 93 hours smoke free, saved 60 US$ on smoke, spent allmost half that on chewing gum and fishermans friends, the rest on junk food! It helps to have this thread to post to! Thank you for being posted to!

Well, if I am Scrat and the cigarettes are the nuts... I guess the good thing is that I am never ever EVER going to get one again! But remember: Scrat is still at the mercy of his cravings! mohaha Jimbo! I'm impressed! You give us all hope, thank you soo much for sharing your experiences and support with us. Pat! Thank you for your prayers. It was the link in your post a couple of pages back about the "key" that stopped me short of going out to light up the next one. I remember thinking "I'll read this post, and then go out for a smoke". Next thing my cigarettes went up in smoke, I was somewhere else. What keeps me afloat in my resolve these days is the thourght "just don't smoke the next one..." Thank you all for listening to my self-absorbed whining, and thank you for your prayers! Something must be working, cause it's now 119 hours (I think?), 100 cigarettes not smoked and 70 US$ not spent on tobacco. So if you don't mind, I'll continue another few days with my self-absorbed whining! Now if the craving would let up too, I might even become optimistic....

I've been afraid to post what I've been learning much because I'm a want-a-be quitter, not an actual quitter; And I would be regarded as possibly doing more harm than good --- because it's not coming from my own personal experience in quitting. Does that make any sense? Anyway, Thanks again. SteelMagnolia and JordanW, GREAT JOB!! You are an inspiration.

Pat: That is a very humble and sensitive attitude, but as far as I'm concerned, good info is good info no matter who points to it. It made a difference to me, at the very least 144 hours not smoking. Goes to show; you NEVER know when sharing good things becomes a blessing to others.
