Nicotine free count: 1 Day, 15 hours, 31 minutes! I know I'm going to make it now. After getting 24 hours under my belt, it's be a shame to have to reset the clock! I'm going to take some time to check out the links that others have mentioned to me (thank you, stellaluna for the PM). I was wondering if anyone knows where a list of the things that happen once you quit might be. I remember years ago getting a flier and part of it was stuff like "one hour after your last cigarette, your body..." and I'd like to find that again to show me how I'm getting better. --Kat

At Two years Smoke-Free: Your chance of achieving long-term success with quitting tobacco increases significantly after two years. At 5 years smoke-free: * from 5 to 15 years after quitting tobacco, stroke risk is reduced to that of people who have never smoked At 10 years smoke-free: * risk of lung cancer drops to as little as one-half that of continuing smokers * risk of cancer of the mouth, throat, esophagus, bladder, kidney, and pancreas decreases * risk of ulcers decreases At 15 years smoke-free: * risk of coronary heart disease is now similar to that of people who have never smoked * risk of death returns to nearly the level of people who have never smoked

Kat, BecomeAnEx.org has a panic button you can use without signing up. I think it's on the upper right hand side of the page if you feel like you wanna smoke.

Can we who have never smoked join in to encourage you all who are trying to quit and to encourage those who have quit to stay that way? IF the answer is yes, then I want to say keep up the good work,Kat! We are so proud of you!

Unfortunately, I fell. I'm thinking and praying that this weekend will be it for me. DH is on a business trip and it would be wonderful to be smokefree for his homecoming on Friday! --Kat

Jimbo. In this you are a shining example and a great encourragement. I pray that you allways will remain 629 days ahead of me. 101 days smoke free. Translates into: x15 $ = 1515 $'s saved x20 smoked a day = 2020 cigarettes not smoked

Wow! Silverstring You are a winner! You have been a true winner for 101 days! We are all going to keep praying for you to continue to be a winner! Maybe you would like to share your successful story with another smoker who might be reading this site and who is thinking about quitting and you could tell them how you were able to overcome those tempting urges to stay the course.Just a thought not a command. lol Congratulations ! Silverstring and JimboFletch!

Thanks for sharing your personal experience. This is helpful to us who have never smoked, but is similar to us who have a habit of eating too much and too much junk food. How are you doing? We are praying for you all! quote:
ORIGINAL: Silverstring Will do indeed! For all of you entering: Scroll back to post #511 on page 21, and follow my personal roller-coaster ride the first couple of weeks. Thinking back, I chose perhaps the worst time possible to quit, much tedious, tiring and time-consuming stuff at work + much socialising. Triggers abounded! And I doubled my coffee-intake, something that reliable sources tells me quadrupled my caffeine-intake since I didn't have the nicotine in my body anymore. I remember having this sorta electric blue glow around me the first week, if you turned off the lights you could make out what part of the room I was in, that's how high strung I was (close to me you could hear the static electricity humming...) It gets better! My concern today is not the everyday crave and caving, my concern is the sudden and unexpected crave / temptation that "I can have one now that I'm quit". That's how I caved last time.

Oh...I'm in month 16? now. I don't even think about smoking anymore, except that I hate it and don't like hanging around friends who smoke. (Which is a whole other thread.)
