Hmmm... a cutting the cord pic- I'll have to keep that in mind for next time... he was trying to cut the cord and take the picture at the same time, so I told him to give me the camera...it turned out to be one of my favorite pictures of her birth...sooo cute!!!!

ORIGINAL: spitzu Nicole... that is so not what I got from reading the book. However, it is what I've gotten from reading other pregnancy books, like those commonly recommended by the ladies here. Perhaps you should read the book yourself before drawing conclusions on it. I wouldn't recommend it to someone unless I was sure they were firmly grounded in their faith and just wanted their opinion on the matter. Ok ok, settle down. I am just going by what my SIL has told me and she is someone with great faith, remembering she has lost a baby and the book had no affect on her like it did to others, i can't get hold of the book at the moment otherwise i would've read it, i didn't think there was any harm in mentioning it as my SIL and a few others in her church have all read it and found it to be a great encouragement to them.

I had a much better delivery with Hannah and so long as he can be quickly taken out if anything starts to go wrong, it might be okay this time. He is also a very empathic child. He may be a better coach than his dad! LOL We don't have the channels that Baby Story or Birth Day are on. I do have books with some pretty graphic pictures I can prepare him with though. He is definitely one that needs to know what to expect ahead of time, but if he knows, it won't bother him.

Sure! Are you going to link to it here, as long as it doesn't show anything?

I think that would be really great if he could be there to watch such a blessed event :) as you said, if he doesn't cope just make sure someone is in the waiting room that he can be with. I think you having him in there too would add to the excitement :)

Just a friendly nudge from your friendly moderator... Our TOS is the same in forums and in PMs. If something would be a personal attack to say in forums, it is also a personal attack in a PM. Telling someone they are rude, questioning salvation or spiritual maturity, etc. are all things that violate TOS. Please, do as I tell my kids, if you don't have something nice to say...don't say it. If there is a question whether you should say something...you probably shouldn't. If you have something to say that might be taken the wrong way, better to put it in the open board rather than a PM. If you truly feel someone is stepping over the line, push that report button and let the moderating staff deal with it. That's what we're here for. How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in unity!...For there the Lord bestows his blessing, even life forevermore. Psalm 133:1, 4 If you have no idea what this nudge is referring to, it probably has nothing to do with you. Don't worry about it. Please email community@salemwebnetwork.com if you have questions, comments or concerns. Please do not respond to this message within the Community. Please do not send me PMs regarding this message. That's all...back to your regularly scheduled thread...

Ok, so with Peyton I was in a larger city, the hospital had birthing suites with whirlpool bathtubs and you got to stay in your room the whole time. With Tyson I moved to where I am now, a smaller place, no tubs, no showers in the room actually, no birthing balls, and you have to switch rooms after you give birth. I loved the birthing ball before and am thinking about investing in an excercise ball to sit on, but I'm laughin at the picture in my head of the nurse's faces when I walk into my delivery with a giant ball, I don't think they'll even know what it's for! Of course if they tie me to the bed again it will be pointless, but dh likes it too, maybe he could play on it while they fuss over how many monitors to put on me...

About Supernatural Childbirth - I have read it and think it has a great many wonderful concepts and teachings - but there is a point where lack of faith = death or pain is not kosher or Biblical. I do believe that we have preprogrammed women to believe that childbirth has to be painful when that is not the case - even the Bible verse so often quoted for 'pain in childbirth' is a mis-translation and hurts (no pun intended) women to no end. But that is another discussion altogether. lol!

I had my two oldest at this last birth and it was beautiful. They still talk about it daily.

I have a thread in Parenting about having other kids at delivery...just in case you want to go post a good story, Nicole. We have decided to have Noah there, BTW. I think the actual labor will be too boring for him to want to stay in there. He definitely wants to be there when the baby is born though.

Now I do think that a lack of faith in your own body can make pain worse, but definitely NOT a lack of faith in God. That is my contention with that book because that's how it came across to me to be saying.

Drama- Call and ask the hospital if they have birthing balls nope, they don't, when I asked in birthing class I got an odd look and a lot of huh's from the teacher and other parents. That was with Tyson but we're in the same place so...sigh I think it would be good just to have one for comfort at home, though. I'm praying for a way to control my bp this time around, I really hate having to deal with all the fuss and monitors. Not to mention the fact that my birth is really no longer my own, I have to deal with the preferences and opinions of the doctors and nurses taking care of me.
