My mom sent this to me the other day:

A TEXAS BLESSING .....

Do you mind if I send this to my friends back in Dallas? They'll love it. I read it out to DH and we both LOL. (He's British, but he visited me there before we got married, so he understands.)

No, I don't mind at all. I don't know where this originated -- it was one of those things floating around the Internet.

Rich,

Somehow I knew you were one of us. LOL!

Anyone with a handle like that is suspect for being from Texas.

I have a friend who grew up in Maine. Is it true that the snow gets above the eaves of the house? And that the snow plowing creates these huge walls of snow that kids can get trapped in? I'm wonderin'.

If you live in the "County" snow can get pretty deep. Here in the southern part of the State we usually avg around 100" per year, although this year I think we were closer to 130".

As for getting lost in the snowbanks they teach the kids from an early age how to dig out LOL

I used to say "Does anything good come out of Texas?" but now my favorite Niece lives there.

So now it's "Texas is such a wonderful place!!!"

ivar

This reminds me of: John 1:46 "Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip." (referencing Christ... and they *do* call Texas "God's Country" )

I was born in Texas and had the unfortunate experience of spending the first 4.5 years of my life in Wisconsin before my parents moved back to Texas and I've been here ever since. My mom says that she she was miserable every day of the 4.5 years (although I think that was meant more as a shot at Wisconsin than a compliment to Texas )

What counts as south? I'm near Houston, is that far enough south? Is it only south if I'm south of Houston?

I think of South Texas as anything below San Antonio. Houston is not South Texas. It's East Texas -- albeit the southern most part of East Texas. LOL!

I just found this thread. Thanks for starting it, Lisa.

I was born and raised in Amarillo. I lived for two years in Lubbock while finishing college. I saw another Amarillo person on here ....

My husband was raised in the Houston area. Both parents worked for NASA.

My sister currently lives in Flower Mound in the Dallas area and has for years. I go to Dallas pretty often because of her. I love the shopping and the food, but not the heat!

I don't like being in Houston much because my hair falls totally flat!

I love TEXAS!

I think I already said this, but I haven't been to Texas in three years. I have only gone north when I've left Colorado, so the heat is probably going to do a number on me. We'll see.

One of my memories of Houston was going to a meeting down there in summertime, and the secretary booking the flight into Hobby when the meeting was over by Intercontinental. I had on a suit, hose, heels -- the works -- when I rented a car at Hobby to drive to the other side of town. This was about 1:30 in the afternoon, and of course rush hour in Houston starts about 1:45. Well, the air conditioner went out half way across town and in stop 'n go traffic. This was a great lesson for me in why so many people are shot on the freeways in Houston. Good thing I didn't have a gun with me.
