I finally got "Real Faith" two days ago. What can I say -- it IS really progressive. But I'm listening to it over and over and trying to like it since I have been a fan for years. The really high tenor and really low bass seem to be missing -- I miss that part. I believe that another producer and arranger could have taken the same songs and made them much more appealing. While the harmonies are very good, these arrangements make the group sound just like any other group with good harmonies. There is nothing distinctive about their sound now.

A couple of times, they used a vocal sound effect that sounds as if they're singing in a tunnel or something. That made me laugh because the first time I ever heard that effect was on the Beatles' "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"! Needless to say, that detracts from the songs for me!

There is one word in the song "Real Faith" that I absolutely cannot tell what it is! Can someone please translate? It is in the chorus: "We saw real people with real struggles and real life ___???____ in real ways."

I'm thankful for the groups, young and old alike, who do not feel the need to become "Progressive" . But I will always love BFA as people regardless of their choices.

I'm a strong BFA fan of a number of years and I really, really liked "It's So God." It had a modern sound, clear vocals, and wonderful songs. I have since picked up a copy of "Real Faith."

To be honest, I can sympathize with YankeeSGfan though because the first time I popped "Real Faith" into the player I thought many of the same things she has expressed here. Almost a "tunnel" sound that distorted the typically crystal clear high and low vocals. The songs are wonderful, and I have since come to like the cd, but definitely not as much as "It's So God."

I think BFA are just as strong as ever vocally, but in reality I believe they should've chose a different producer. Either way, I still like the cd, and I think the current lineup is the best they have ever had and I will continue to be a fan, but I must admit some dissappointment in the vocal and instrumental production. There wasn't one point in the entire cd that the bass shone on a low song. Brian also didn't have the normal spotlight on his terrific high vocals either.

On a more positive note, "I Believe God," "The Biggest Step," "Keep Looking Up," "Save Me A Seat," "We Will Sing" and others are absolutely phenomenal songs. If you can adjust to the progressive sound you'll come to enjoy the cd as I have. And I would recommend this cd to anyone.

BTW, the words are "real life bruised in real ways."

I'm usually not a fan of the more progressive sound, but I really like "Real Faith." It's no "True to the Call" but I would rank it as my second favorite album that's been released this year. "We Will Sing,"I Believe God" and "Real Faith" are outstanding.

"I Believe God" or "Real Faith" will almost assuredly follow "Prayin' Man" as the second single.

Yes, "Prayin' Man" is their first single and was written by Ronnie Hinson. It's a very lyrically clever song.

My personal favorite is "We Will Sing," but you can't go wrong with either one of those two.

"We Will Sing" is excellent, but in order for it to be a single it really needs to stand out lyrically and musically. "I Believe God" has such a strong message that it would almost assuredly hit the Top 10. "Real Faith" would also be an obvious choice because it's the title of their project and is the centerpiece of the album's theme.

I think they started recording "Real Faith" when Keith Plott was still with them, so Jeremy's voice isn't displayed to its fullness.

My suggestion is to go to a BFA concert, because that's where he shines. They need to record a DVD/CD live project with songs from It's So God and Real Faith. Songs like Deep Deep Sea and Jesus Will Pick You Up are absolutely AWESOME when Jeremy does them and I hope they record those with him singing them

Don't get me wrong, Aaron, I LOVE Jeremy Lile. His stage presence runs circles around just about any other young bass singer I could soon think of. He's good vocally, and I understand they probably had limited time to get him a rocking low song, but it still doesn't dissappoint me any less.

I TOTALLY AGREE ON THE DVD IDEA!!! I'd be first in line to pick up a dvd with "If It Takes A Valley," "Deep Deep Sea," "The Biggest Step," "The Coming Of The King," and others on it. Believe it or not, In probably 10 live performances I've seen BFA do, they haven't once sang "Jesus Will Pick You Up." I'll have to request that song the next time I see them. (hopefully the 24th!!)

Man, Jeremy tears it up on Jesus Will Pick You Up!

BTW, were you at the Gold City concert in Roanoke on Monday?

I have only had the chance to hear BFA once since Jeremy has joined them. I thought the sound was really good especially since Jeremy had just started. I should be in my area sometime soon and I am looking forward to hearing them perform the new songs.

I mentioned this in the concerts recently attended thread but for those who have not heard, pianist Scott McDowell's mother passed away this week. He is currently at home with his family and will return to the road with the group when he is able.

Nope. I was just flat out too busy. I won't be back home until the 19th at which time I hope to snag BFA (again) on the 24th in Winchester. If you're not too far you outta go too!

Scott's mother passed away?!? He's only 20! Any details? I can't imagine losing my mother that young. Everybody PRAY!

Hmm... I think I'm busy the 24th getting together with a bunch of friends at Putt-Putt since that's only 3 days before school starts back... Guess I'll have to wait for NQC.

Speaking of BFA videos.... I would love to see Brian do a video of just a regular concert. One that mixes the old and new songs in it. All their videos are of just a particular project. A variety would be nice.

Brian said last night at the concert that it was his mother. He may have meant his grandmother but he did say it was his mother.

well i would say that brian knows more than the guy that posted that comment on his myspace.... so i'd say it probably was his mother. i'm sure there will be a press release about it soon.

You know, it is possible that Brian meant to say Grandmother but said Mother by mistake. It's also possible that I misunderstood what he said, too. I definitely would not intentionally post misinformation about something like that, so if I did make a mistake I do apologize.

The important thing is to keep Scott and his family in our prayers.

Amen. Regardless of whether it's his mother or grandmother, it's a terrible loss either way.

I've been meaning to ask this in here to anybody who has seen BF&A in concert since Jeremy joined the group. Does he do his "drum machine" during the concert? I loved hearing him do it with Crystal River and just wondered if the new group is letting him do it.

Seen the group several times since Jeremy joined and have not heard him do it. Wish they would include in in the program.
