Congratulations, Tina. That was probably a good place to start, and now they should all seem easier. You will do fine next time also. Personally, I would rather sing in a church as at a festival or somplace similar. The people there are really interested in hearing you. Did you do any doowop?

A couple. We did "Can't Wait To Go Home," which is my favorite!! And wouldn't ya know, I flubbed it up...! Oh well, nothing a little practice won't cure!!

Oh, correction......it was an Assisted Living Home, not a nursing home, but still a good place to start.

Maybe you flubbed up because you realized the cruelty of singing "I can't wait to go home" in a nursing home.

Kerr, I regularly sing songs like "New Grace" and "Going Home" (Gaither) and "Come Home" (Cathedrals) in the nursing home my church has. I thought about that before....

Maybe that explains why they all got up and left right away after the concert was over.

Hey, they waited until it was over...

...and they were able to get up.

I'd call it a good day.

This reminded me of Aaron Wilburn surrounded at the altar in a Pentacostal Church:

One in front saying "Hang On"

Someone behind saying "Turn Loose"

Somebody on the left shouting "Empty Him Lord"

One on the right yelling "Fill Him Up"

Just wanted to say congratulations on everything. I had a group going for a couple of years, but it folded back last August. I have been praying about what God has planned for me, and I have felt all along that it would work out...in God's time. It is very hard to wait, but I have been trying to be patient with this. I've even prayed that if it wasn't God's will, that he take the desire from me all together. The desire has gotten stronger than ever, so I know that I am right on target in what I am to do.

I received some great news yesterday on this. One guy that I really want to join me in this ministry may be interested. We are getting together in a week for dinner, and to talk about what we each want from a ministry. He is one of the best singers that I've ever heard. I also have a bass singer and a lead that wants to audition. Please pray that God's will be done, and that we make the right decisions for this group. Just in case anyone's wondering (so you can be more specific when praying...hint hint) the group name is Victory Road. We are based out of North Carolina. I'll keep you posted...that is if it's ok with L5FanLady. This is, afterall, her thread. God bless.

This morning I went to the Gandy's, and Les helped me to finish a song I had started about 2 1/2 years ago!! All I had was the chorus and a basic melody to it, no verses, but in Les's hands it took on NEW LIFE!! I originally called it "Carried By Grace," but we altered it slightly to Carried By His Grace. Wow! I am so proud of it now!! Without Les, it would have stayed in that sorry form forever!! I can't wait for you to hear it!! It may be well over a year from now, seeing it's so new, but when I can, I will post a clip!

Hey L5FanLady,

If you are interested in getting that song you wrote put to music, you should check out Sharen Alexander. You can get the track done with just about any instruments you want for about $85.00 per track. It costs more if you want more options (acoustic drums, background vocals, etc.), but not much more. She does really good work for the money and has a fast turnaround time on getting it back to you. Check out her webpage at www.roseofsharen.com and see for yourself. She has demos on there that you can hear. She is a great musician. She did the original demo to the song "There Rose A Lamb" for Kyla Rowland. She has recorded songs for my dad, as well as did soundtracks for some hard to find songs for my group. There are better out there, but not for what she charges!!! All you have to do is send her a rough copy of your song, the lyrics, and what key you want it in and she will take care of the rest.

This is not a commercial for her, just a reference to help out a christian singer/songwriter. Let me know if I can help.

This post has nothing to do with the topic of this thread, but I'm posting it here anyway.

Last night we got snow, sleet and freezing rain. I was warned it was going to be bad outside by my family, but I told them I will wait and see in the morning. Well, it didn't look too bad outside, so I got ready and ventured out to my church which is about 21 miles from my apt. I got maybe 2/3rds of the way, hit some slushy snow and went careening off into a ditch on the other side of the road. Thankfully, there were no cars coming or I would have hit them head-on! All I could see as I was slipping out of control was a large tree coming right for the front of my van. (It really wasn't huge, I could have hugged it and still held my hands--but any tree coming at your vehicle looks big when you are sliding into a ditch!! ) I had an angel watching over me!! God was looking out for me!! As I saw me heading for that tree, I felt a little kick to the right, then a push to the left and miraculously, I went right around to the other side of the tree!! No sickening crunch of plastic and metal; and no hurt!!!

I sat there, my heart racing, many thoughts running thru my head. I called my grandpa right away and told him what happened; he gave me the ph# to a local tow-truck company and got them on their way to pull me out (thank God I have Roadside Assistance!) I sat there and realized God had an angel watching out for me! I cried and thanked Him for His protection!! I'm thankful for concerned citizens, too: at least 8-10 people stopped and asked me if I was alright or if I needed help!! I told them (esp. the guys) that help was on the way and would be here in any minute (whether they would be or not) and thanks for stopping.

I also called my pastor's wife and told her what happened, and that I wouldn't make Sunday School, but the 11am service (Trooper that I am--or just plain stupid--not sure! ) She said that after that, I ought to just go home! I thought, "Really?!?"

Finally the tow truck arrived and pulled me out without incident. When I paid him, I got to give him a tract! Maybe he'll get saved!! I drove off, and when I was in a safe place, I got out and looked at the vehicle. NOT A SCRATCH!!!! PRAISE GOD!!!

But, I did go home.

When I got home, I had such a headache!! I laid down and slept for four hours!! Praise God for His Divine Protection!!!

Praise the Lord!

When I was in a bad accident a few years back (as a passenger), I didn't want to go back on the road for months. May your mental recovery be more smooth...

You'll be in my prayers.

I'm sorry to hear that.

I guess I really probably meant psychological more than mental, but that word usually comes off sounding wrong.

I am so glad that God protected you.

Do you think that your headache is from stress, or did you bump it when you went off the road?

You may be sore tomorrow or the next day.

Unfortunately, there is no obvious person to file a lawsuit against.
