Are you say WE are the cattle on a thousand hills? Now there's an idea. I thought all along that I was just a stupid sheep. Now i can consider myself just a bunch of bull.

Mornin' Dove, Doink, SovereignIsHe and Doug.

I haven't been in here for so long.

((((((Dove)))))

Just what you needed, a divorce. I'm so sorry. My divorce happened so long ago and it was so painful. My children were young at the time, in God's Sovereignty they grew up to be wonderful Reformed Christians. Praise Him!

I so love the word, "Sovereign"! It wraps around and into me, with peace.
Is there anyone else that loves a word like that or a chapter, like Isaiah 55?

Or maybe I'm strange. (You probably already knew that about me.)

Isaiah is in my opinion the most sovereign collection of scriptures...

Isaiah 2:10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the Lord, and for the glory of his majesty.

Isaiah 43:13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

Isaiah 40:17 All nations before him are as nothing; and they are counted to him less than nothing, and vanity.

Isaiah 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them.

Isaiah 43:10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the Lord, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.

Isaiah 43:13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?

Isaiah 48:13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.

Isaiah 55:11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

Isaiah 65:24 And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.

As well two of my most personal favorites...

Isaiah 48:10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.

Isaiah 46:4 And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.

How humbling...

John

John! I agree with you regarding Isaiah.

Very humbling....
Thank you for your collection.

May I offer, Isaiah 54?
I have a long explanation for what happened to me and my children when we were divorced, which I won't bother anyone with.
Bottom line, verse 5 "--the LORD Almighty is his name--"!

Hello April,
It's been awhile, good to 'see' you. Sovereign has been a very special word for me, especially since this cancer dx. I rely on Him in so many ways and as soon as I try to call the shots I know quickly how terribly inadequate I am. As for Isaiah, Chapter 54 has been a lifetime chapter for me with many promises and reassurances.

One instance is when He asked me to drop a Christian activity I was involved in and when I came up with all kinds of questions and excuses, He gave me vs.1, 2 "Sing, O barren one, who did not bear:..for the children of the desolate one will be more than the children of her who is married... Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out" . Shortly after we doubled the size of our home with an additon, adopted our daughter and two years later adopted our youngest son.

On a completely secular and unrelated note...

Has anyone been watching the "Carrier" miniseries on PBS? It covers a 6 month tour on the Nimitz over about 5 episodes. Pretty neat... seems to get into the heart of things (not just "Top Gun" repackaged).

((((Dear Dove))))
Thank you so much for telling me about your children and what those verses and that chapter means to you!

I never really know how to explain how the Lord let me live through years without knowing Him. Many times now, I would have preferred to have known Him when I was a child, but I do know that His timing is/was perfect! Sovereign Is HE!

Nope, but now I want to...maybe they'll do an encore presentation or it'll show up on the History channel.

No, but I have spent the night on the Enterprise at Charleston, SC. These ships are simply amazing!

Actually they are running an "encore" presentation now... or rather, many encores... I can't figure out the logic behind the schedule.

As far as History... maybe. I think it was made for PBS, but Mel Gibson's Icon outfit is behind it, so who knows. (BTW, I don't think there is a scourging/crucifixion scene in this one, for a change).

Edit... turns out it is 10 episodes...

And 'fess up, John... you hugged nukes and liked it!

I was just looking at a webpage on the Forrestal... with a 30 foot draft, that sounds similar to the kayak I tried to build for myself

Good Morning, HisFish (may I say David?)

I have a question if you don't mind. Specifically, where did you find the Spurgeon the quote? I love it, but I have been searching for it's inception and I've been unable to find it.
Could you help me?

Thank you
