Nice! So who's gonna start the heated debate?

Ok. I will. Personally, I'm a five-point Calvinist. That's enough for someone to reply to, especially if they know their theological terms lol.

Hmmm I could be mistaken, but it was my recollection that this thread was for fellowship not debate.

So, someone let us know which way it goes.

M.

kimshenberger -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 8:08:48 AM)

This thread has always been for fellowship!

SantaHoss -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 8:58:34 AM)

TheoJunkie -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 11:20:03 AM)

Hoss,

The world has ended, and this is heaven. If you have any credit card bills, you can toss them out now. New heaven, new earth, new CitiBank.

I'm surprised to see you here, though, since you aren't Calvinist and therefore God doesn't love you dontchaknow [:D]

JaredMeister -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 12:31:34 PM)

Hi Tirno, Welcome to the Crosswalk Reformed Homeys chat thread. This is NOT for debate. It's an "oasis" for (mostly) Reformed people to come and just hang out.

There will be PLENTY of opportunities for debate in the theology forums if that's what you're itchin' for. [:D]

TheoJunkie -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 12:48:58 PM)

Ok...

Is there a quick button or something that will take you to the next unread post in your subscription list-- like the old "NewMsg(1)" link?

Grr... mouse clicks aggravate my sedentery nature.

DougHorton -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 1:36:21 PM)

John,

You got down to "NewMsg(1)"? I'm impressed.

Look down near the bottom of the page. I bet that button that says "New Messages" might be handy.

SantaHoss -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 2:05:10 PM)

Now Theo, You know that just because Im not among the chosen, dont mean I aint loved anyway.
But I'm here because I chose to be here and since Euty said the place was fer those who loved doctrines of Grace, i can see no greater grace than Whosoever will.
Besides John You know I love me bros![8|]

Hoss,

You know I were jus' makin' a funny.

Yer one of the chosen unnumerable, even though you're all a-barrassed about it.

Thanks for the welcome! In fact, I'm no looking for debate in here...that's better done in the debate forums lol. I was merely making my beliefs known so others could know me better. I have no intention of getting under anyone's skin and offending them...I've been through that, and it's not pretty.

So here's a question: Who here is Calvinist and who isn't?

TheoJunkie -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 4:36:17 PM)

I'm reformed, and will call myself Calvinist, though I'm pretty sure there are things that Calvin taught that I don't agree with.

SantaHoss -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 4:37:31 PM)

I's Glad Theo an me udderstand one nother![sm=biggrin.gif]

DougHorton -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 4:43:30 PM)

I think Calvin would be horrified by what has been done with his name attached to it. I think of 1 Corinthians when I hear "I am of Arminius and you are of Calvin." Too many people have attached a negative meaning to the Theologian's name.

Call me Reformed. Say that I believe the doctrines of grace. And when people say, "What was that?" I'll have an open door for conversation.

EddieL -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/12/2005 11:50:23 PM)

This is gonna take some gettin' used to.... but what else is new?

Yep. I've spent the better part of my online time the past couple of days just trying to get my avatar and profile picture to stick.

Must be an Arminian system they are using.
Avatar, not avatar, avatar, not avatar.

ern_walton -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/13/2005 1:39:32 AM)

euty,

Regarding your Arminian avatar work, forgive me. All that work for you to get an avatar. And my "preference" setting is to snot even see 'em.

TheoJunkie -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/13/2005 7:51:52 AM)

Ern,

If you can't worship my avatar, then please have the common decency to remain silent about it. I'm a jealous god, but not powerful enough to do anything about it.

Agreed. But that's the great thing about Calvinism: It's not about Calvin! I disagree with his views on government (church and otherwise) and his position on infant baptism. And I also agree that "reformed" or "I believe in the doctrines of grace" are better statements to make than "im a Calvinist." It's a lot less offensive, and it truly is a conversation starter because so many people are brought up hearing about those "anti-missions, fatalistic, Calvinists!"

SantaHoss -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/13/2005 8:44:56 AM)

Hmm Is that Theo the Grey?
I knew euty looked like Jean Luc, its interesting to see that Theo looks like Gandalf.

SantaHoss -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/13/2005 8:47:44 AM)

Now thats where I get confused folks. The "Doctrines of Grace" statement. It seems to me that Both "sides" of the "discussion" can claim to believe in the Doctrines of Grace. One must decide to whom that Grace is extended. No debate, just an observation.

[sm=icon_smile_santa.gif][sm=icon_smile_clown.gif]

TheoJunkie -> RE: Reformed Theology Chat Thread (4/13/2005 10:25:09 AM)

And I merely observe that if man has any "responsibility" for his own salvation, then salvation is not entirely from grace.

I'm the Gray Junkie... but Theo the Gray does sound better...
