I think the suggestion was to have a separate "Humor" or "Jokes" folder from the "Games" folder -- splitting this one up, in other words, into two -- so that someone who wants to post something humorous won't be caught in the restrictions of how many threads can be going on at the same time.

I think it's a good idea. Though this folder has been more "Games" than Humor, there have at times been great humor or jokes threads. There was a running one on Q&A jokes and one on One-liners.

I do the same. I allow it to appear in September, which only takes a couple of weeks these years (!), then shave it off in April. In fact, I'm planning to say goodbye to it this week.... [:)]

This 'reorganization' seems to coincide pretty well with a big push for the Crosswalk game that costs money: "Jewels of the Sinai - Have you played yet?", "Jewels of Sinai - Play NOW", etc. Strangely, there's plenty of room right at the top of the folder for three of those threads [;)]

Seriously, with the probable changes in Humor & Games, I might be around here less, depending upon how much fun the folder is on the other side. I don't think it's the number of threads that's the problem, but the amount of 'dead weight' in stored previous pages. To me a tweaked solution, such as restarting all threads that get to 25 pages (or something like that), and deleting all threads that have been long-dormant seems more advisable.

Has crosswalk thought about adding the following line of code to the HTML Header of all the H&G section threads?

<meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow">

This will make search engines stop indexing the H&G part of the forum and the end result will be about 1/2 - 3/4 less traffic into those pages and thus reduce the load put on the sever. You would be surprised how much "activity" on a site is really just a search engine spider and not a real human being. Very often it is double the actual human visitors. This will cut a lot of the load on things down and also allow other parts of the forum that are important to being index to still show up on the search engines.

Just a thought that might help.

I do not like the the selection of games that made the final cut, since I never played them to my knowledge. I think that they will be so busy that I may not be able to keep up with other posters and be slow getting the right posts in. I may choose to not go to the humor and games forums anymore if I find it difficult to play the games that survived the elimination process. I will still participate in other forums on this site, of course, but they're not as much fun as this one is. [:(]

^ None of these 8 games are difficult per se. I think you'll like them, in fact. But I sure do agree that a larger selection of permanent games would have been nice.

Yep, your post count will go down when threads you have posted in get deleted. Only posts in threads than can be accessed count.

My post count didn't go down when they closed a bunch of threads in this folder that had reached 100 pages. Your post count will only go down after the threads disappear, which I believe is one year after they have last been posted in. So, yes, your post count will eventually go down, but it has been like that for a long time at this board. That is not new.
