What's the worst movie ever? That's an easy one to answer:

3. Ishtar (Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman - great actors, but terrible film)
2. Heaven's Gate (Kris Kristofferson, Christopher Walken, Isabelle Huppert in a real NUKE!)
and the #1 Worst Movie of All-Time is.........

Plan 9 from Outer Space (I've been known to watch some really dumb movies from beginning to end, just to see if anything was worth the time/effort...Not This One!!!!!! My eyes! The pain and agony!!)

for worst Christian film, I nominate: "The Judas Project."

Sweet_Tea_No_Lemon -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/3/2007 3:09:34 PM)

Jim Jarmusch's Dead Man

I know it's supposed to be this poetic indie masterpiece, etc., etc., but I absolutely hated having to sit through it.

PrincessButtercup -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/4/2007 10:07:05 AM)

There are a lot of movies that I don't care for, but primarily only one that I hate - THE HULK!!! I spent like $10 opening night to see that stupid movie. There was so much hype about it, and I was all excited. But there was no story at all! I though it was funny that the first two nights it was out, it did awesome in the box office, but then plummeted down to nothing - and the movie makers were blaming text messaging for the flick's failure. Everyone was coming out of the theater texting their friends, telling them not to see it. Terrible movie.[:'(]

The worst movie I ever saw was Time bandits! I walked totally out on that and this is not a lie, so did the rest of the people in the movie theater.

45degreeN -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/4/2007 5:08:56 PM)

While Plan 9 From Outer Space was pretty bad, but it was a cheesy production in the first place so it really might not qualify according to the OP.

I would nominate Myra Breckenridge. It had many big name stars and a big name author who consulted on the project, but the movie was pulled out of theaters after only one week!
Rachel Welsh, Mae West, Tom Selleck(early role for him), John Huston (in front of the camera), Farrah Faucet (early role) and Rex Reed (yeah, the film critic). It was written by Gore Vidal an award winning author etc. Needless to say it didn't even make its costs.

While the original was rated X it was reduced to an R before it made the theaters, today it wouldn't even rate an R.

Diamonds28 -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/7/2007 9:59:39 PM)

Flubber was pretty bad! It was really hyped up too! I'll never forget my parents made me and my brother and sister watch flubber in the theaters while they were watching titanic,[>:] I had to wait to watch it till it came out on video.

Diamonds28 -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/7/2007 10:02:55 PM)

The breakup was really bad b/c it had a very unfulfilling ending. You get to spend a whole hour and a half of your life watching two people fight just to realize that they aren't even getting back together, or if they are you don't know. It's just left to the imagination but I didn't like that.

HikerGirl -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/7/2007 11:26:14 PM)

"Music and Lyrics" with Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant[:'(]

Never have I wanted more to impale myself on hot burning stakes than during this movie......just everything!!But I didn't want to walk out on my friend - who liked it????[:o][&:]

TQ_Fan_4_Life -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/8/2007 9:31:47 PM)

titanic. I mean come opn. echoes in the ocean. and 1 billion dollars KNOWING the ending?
snakes on a plane. I mean they give the plot in the title. how lame is that
the jackass movies. I like violent movies but that group of idiots takes the cake. VOLUNTEERING to be harmed is idiotic.
bio-dome, strianna, planet if apes remake, napoleon dud, and last but not least............................................................................................................................................................battlefield earth

Hiker02 -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/8/2007 10:13:46 PM)

"How to Make an American Quilt"

I remember sitting through this movie wondering if it could get any worse and being unpleasantly surprised time after time.

dave777 -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/9/2007 2:03:13 AM)

Parenthood

jolynnaspire -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/9/2007 12:20:37 PM)

Throwing my 2 cents in here: Battlefield Earth was just painful, Event Horizon was awful, and Blades of Glory wasn't funny - just dumb.

CKC -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/9/2007 6:23:25 PM)

How about Meet the Parents! Stiller (Gaylord Folker) Does something stupid and they ridicule him for it then the repeat the samething over and over and over. And this is supposed to be funny! NOT!!

I never saw the sequel because the first one was so bad!!!!!

I also go with the other movies already mentioned:
Napoleon Dynamite!
Heaven's Gate

Also I did not see it mentioned was Robert Altman's Nashville

Be good

Worst movie I ever saw was a B-grade one called Earthquake. We hired it when my Dad had just installed a surround speaker system and we wanted to choose a movie that would really put it to good use.

Oh, how disappointing. The only evidence there was an actual earthquake in the movie was a few rocks rolling across the ground as bad actors tried to panic. The surround speakers never got to shine. To be honest, when people were fleeing from this flea-shattering quiver of an earthquake I was gunning for the EARTHQUAKE to win. Alas, we despaired when this balding, bearded man with no charisma saved the day by - well, doing nothing at all.

I've seen mediocre movies a'plenty, but a truly bad movie has to be one that is badly executed, has no direction and thoroughly fails to convince me that it appears to. In that regard even a bad movie executed with intent wins over a weak waste of film like Earthquake, because at least such a movie would have tanked with enthusiasm - Corky Romano being an example.

ColoradoMom -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/11/2007 3:38:45 AM)

Mad Max - Beyond Thunderdome. My husband & I saw this when we were dating. After what seemed an eternity, my husband checked his watch and yelped in disbelief, "It's only been 45 minutes!?!" That revelation caused the whole theater to groan audibly. We were all there for the second feature.

I agree with the poster who nominated "Payback".

The Fast & The Furious was dreadful.

Grease 2 was pretty bad but probably doesn't qualify for "worst ever" status.

But I loved Time Bandits - had it on VHS, bought it on DVD. Any movie with midgets singing and dancing to "Me & My Shadow" is just fine with me.

Vejay -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/11/2007 4:35:58 AM)

I enjoyed Time Bandits too - it's very Terry Gilliam.

The Straight Story. I cannot believe that anyone in their right mind would make a movie like that. The high point was really when he shot the lawn mower...

milletics -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/11/2007 8:48:19 AM)

2001 space odesy. Is there anyone who didnt fall asleep through it? Way over-rated. Sooo boring(I never did sit through the whole thing)

Whats wrong with Napolean TnT? Thats my all-time favorite comedy. That and of course Planes,Trains, and Automobiles.

Are you kidding? I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey when I was in 3rd grade with one of my best friends and his 2 brothers. We all absolutely loved it, even though we couldn't quite understand the part at the end with the embryo and all that (We were only kids, after all). But it still a great movie!!

Star Odyssey.
If you thought Plan 9 From Outer Space was bad....

I hate it, too.

Napoleon Dynamite isn't my favorite comedy, but it's not the worst movie ever. [8|]

Trivr -> RE: What is the worst movie ever? (5/11/2007 4:00:07 PM)

Talladega Nights!! I rarely get offended by things, but this movie offended me! I thought this movie was bad because it didn't flow nicely and the humor was stupid and cheap, but what really got me was the gay kissing. I went to see this movie with two of my single buddies. All we knew was it was a comedy with will ferrell about nascar. We didn't know we'd be sitting through several scenes of guys kissing eachother on the lips. I felt like we'd been set up!

Wow! I can't believe that no one has suggested An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore. Or maybe Fahrenheit 911, Roger and Me or Bowling for Columbine by Michael Moore.

The why for An Inconvenient Truth is easy. Colleges are making students watch that drivel out of trying to appear politically correct. One college is even making it a condition of graduation, (if the students do not watch it, they do not graduate).

Moore's movies are pathetic. A good anti-dote for Fahrenheit 911 is FahrenHype 911, the movie debunks every premise of Fahrenheit 911.

I should also include any movie with Jane Fonda or Sean Penn as one of the stars. I sure wish we still had laws against treason on the books.

I thought the Notebook was awesome.

I still stand by Troll 2 being the worst film ever made.
