Siena -> RE: Introductions/Bios/Welcome (5/26/2007 10:42:54 PM)

Hello, I have just found the forum. I am a widowed 47 year old woman. My husband and I had cancer at the same time and he didn't make it. Two of my friends also had cancer at the same time and they also did not make it. I am a Mother and Grandmother. Above all I am a Christian. Life is very different for me now.
I like many handcrafts, cross stitch samplers, hardanger needlework, sewing, scherenschnitte, tea bag folding, scrap booking, drawing, crocheting. I am learning to play my husbands guitar and am studying to learn the French language.
I am very interested in alternative medicine and wish that I could study it further. I have done extensive study at home with many books that I have purchased and been given since I was sick.

Hey everyone! Just trying to see how this works....

truth.in.love -> RE: Introductions/Bios/Welcome (6/2/2007 1:27:32 PM)

hi.

i'm saved.

i'm in my mid forties.

i'm divorced.

i'm very nervous about this. (nervous giggle)

i'm what i like to refer to as a realist (but my world view is through the grid of scripture)

my hobbies include work and more work and then after that i work. i have been accused of taking "dry wit" humor too far.

i like action movies with lots of fighting.

i like riding around in my car playing the 70's station too loud (until it starts to annoy me...a true sign of getting old.

i like not shaving.

hold on i've got to go look at the questions again.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ok

i've been posting for a couple of days. mostly very serious because when it comes to my faith i try to be very careful.

i enjoy going through day to day life watching what God is doing both in my personal life as well as in the world. i am at work alot and have a healthy chunk of responsibility (i see it as a blessing).

i enjoy listening to Turning Point with David Jeremiah, In Touch with Charles Stanley, Through the Bible with J. Vernon McGee The Alternative with Tony Evans, Greg Laurie (great! now all of a sudden i can't remember the name of Pastor Lauries program - another sign of getting old i guess) I enjoy the T V ministries of all of these wonderful men of God (with the exception of brother McGee ofcourse)

i enjoy singing and playing the old hymns, southern gospel as well as...well...(it is no more i but sin that dwelleth in me that listeneth to the 70's radio station too loud) Lord forgive me if that was a sin.

i am one of $ oops i mean 4 (i have a shift key issue) children. 3rd in the line. i'm actually a very serious person when it comes to my faith. my goal is to grow to my full potential in Christ (which is a road that i will be on for a *long* time to come. i think i'm very fair in my estimation of other people. none of us are perfect, we will be one day, but for now we're in this world which is fallen. this is not the time in history to to panic. no imho it is a time to go more deeply in the only relationship that will last for eternity. that being said; no, this is not the time to panic because The Lord has clearly told us not to.

sorry it's easy for me to get carried away.

well i did this because i'm interested in meeting some new friends (especially christians)

drmomjoyce -> RE: Introductions/Bios/Welcome (6/2/2007 3:25:38 PM)

HI Truth.in.life and other recently added posters
welcome to the forums. I really enjoyed reading your introduction to yourself. As for loud music - i am really bad when i get mad - then a drive in the car with beating music loud until i have calmed down or the music is giving me a headache (about 5 mins) then as the music quiets, i calm down. Admittingly its not a good response - im sure there are much more effective ways

Happy reading and posting
Joyce

Tell us a little about yourself: I work at a well known hotel company for my day job. I work in christian radio on the weekend. and I work in the recovery ministry to help those who struggle with addiction.

Hi drmomjoyce,

sorry it has taken me so long to respond. i'm really having a hard time thinking of things to say. thank you for making me feel welcome. i think/hope that this place is going to become my hang-out.

It's quite okay - you can hit the PM button under my name, and that will allow you to send something privately, instead of out here on the open forums.
