Jay found a little kitten in the woods today. It's so cute! It's black with a tinge of rust color to its fur. The kids wanted to keep it, so we brought it inside and fed it. She's pretty thin, but she's friendly. The girls have been dressing her up and playing with her all day. They've named her Shadow. I'm allergic to cats, so she'll probably end up as an outside cat, but for now they are keeping her downstairs, plus she doesn't seem to bother my asthma yet anyway. Rachel especially has always wanted a cat.

Is the kitten a tortie? I just had a foster kitten that was a Tortie and I had never heard of such a thing before that.

I thought I was allergic to cats, and was surprised to find out that the foster kittens don't really bother me. I take an allergy pill maybe once a week and I was expecting every day.

I don't think she's a tortie--she's just black, mostly. Her mother is a gray cat that's been hanging around outside, and there's another cat that's joined it, too. We've named the gray cat Smokey and the other cat Ferocious, because she doesn't like to be touched.

Will you post some kitten pictures? I have recently become a kitten fanatic. :)

l'll try and hunt up my camera and get some pictures in my blog today or maybe tomorrow. I've got to do a lot of laundry today, though--I've been doing some canning and freezing and I'm way behind on my laundry. :)

Hi Lisa, congratulations on being an aunt again!

Also, scary about the dog too! Is the chicken ok?

Thanks! I can't wait to see my latest niece.

The chicken seems to be okay. They have laid a couple of eggs since, so they must be recovering from the shock.

I did take a couple of pictures of the cat. I haven't uploaded them yet, because I had to upload the ones from the Creation Musuem and it takes a long time with our slow dial-up. We've signed up for wireless internet, and they are supposed to install it next Tuesday. Hopefully it'll work for us.

Now that will be cool to see Lisa! I just read your latest blog also.

Good that the chickens are ok too. Hey, I was just wondering, what kind of personality to chickens have? Just wondering.

Personality of chickens...Hmm. They aren't very cuddly animals--they don't like to be petted or anything. The rooster (when we had one!) was pretty aggressive. If one of us walked towards him and he felt threatened, he'd attack. The hens have never attacked anyone, but if I walk outside they all come running because they hope I'm bringing them something to eat. I usually carry it to the chicken pen if I am bringing them something, and they will walk in front of my feet the whole way to the pen so that I'll trip over them.

Ahhhh, interesting! Just wondering because I have seen the personalities of different animals such as birds, etc. And noticed that each one is distinct.

I have noticed that are ducks act a lot different than our chickens. I think they are more fun to have around. It's fun to watch them, because they do everything together, and they take turns being the leader. They'll all be walking one way and then the one at the end willl turn and go the other way, and the rest will turn and follow that one instead. They're so funny.

LOL cool! Yeah, I have seen ducks behavior in my area as well! I heard that cows can be interesting too!

Maybe someday I will live on a farm.

Were hoping to get a goat eventually. We'll have ourselves a regular mini-farm one of these days!

I think we actually have the space for one, and they would give us about the right amount of milk for our family. They're also friendly animals, and so cute!

Cool Lisa, I am happy for both you and your family! :) I have had goats milk before, it is quite good but especially with chocolate chip cookies!
