Consecrated2God -> Lisa's Break Room (4/24/2007 8:49:35 PM)

As you may or may not know, I am taking a leave of absence from moderating. I've just finished clearing out tons of subscriptions, and I no longer have powers. It was something I really needed to do, because I've been too busy lately to get on as much as I used to. Some days I only get on a couple of times, for maybe fifteen minutes at a time. Some days I don't even log on at all!

Of course, this change has left me feeling somewhat lost. Where do I post things that are going on in my life that I want some feedback on? I can't post in the moderator chat thread anymore. I don't have time for any of the other chat threads that move so fast. I still blog, but no one can reply to me there except by PM.

So I decided to start this thread. This is my break room. When I need a break from quilting or whatever I happen to be doing, I can check in here. Hey, every working woman needs a break now and then!

So, welcome to my break room. You can get a pop out of the pop machine and sit on one of these orange plastic chairs for fifiteen minutes, and visit with me!

Hi Lisa!

Darcyjo -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/24/2007 9:03:14 PM)

Hello, Lisa, welcome to PFY! [:)]

awed -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/24/2007 9:18:02 PM)

Lisa! Glad you put up the break room!

Congrats to Eric!! [sm=thumbsup.gif] All official now! Hope he gets the time in the smaller churches to exercise with his preaching. I'm so glad for all of you as a family!

You make a pretty cute Tevia (sp) LOL! And kudos to you for getting it all memorized in such a short time. I used to have good memory abilities. Operative words now is used to.[&o][8D]

BEAUTIFUL quilts!! I think it's so cool that you are doing several for LisaP. What was the result of the one on Ebay if I can ask? I was thinking you should have started it higher.

And finally...I'm loving the pics of the kids. They are growing up so fast. It seems like only yesterday that we were waiting in forums for the births of a couple of them.[;)]

Thanks for sharing your family with us. I know you don't hear from me often, but I do follow a little bit.[:D]

Consecrated2God -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 9:24:11 AM)

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Memorizing lines never was very difficult for me. Other things, like numbers, I struggled with, but I can pick up lines fairly quickly. The first thing I did was to make a practice tape. I recorded every else's lines on a tape, with blank space in between so I could say my own lines in between. It's a very helpful tool for practicing.

The quilt I sold on Ebay for $33 in the end. I know it was worth more than that, but I don't think Ebay is really a good place to make a lot of money on a quilt. It was a place to start. I may or may not list more on Ebay, I don't now. When I get the quilts done for LisaP, I'll put them on my blog, too. I finished quilting the second one yesterday evening, I just have to finish up the edges. Then I can quilt the third and mail them off. I'm shooting for shipping on Saturday.

I'm glad you are enjoying the pictures of my kids. It amazes me how fast they grow, too! It always amazes me when I sort through their clothes how much smaller the clothes look each time I take them out of their storage tubs.

Today's Erick's day off work. He has Sundays and Wednesdays off. We had hoped to get some outdoor work done, but it's raining. I think it's rained for at least the last three Wednesdays. I'm not sure what we're going to do today really, besides shopping and church.

Consecrated2God -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 9:38:35 AM)

LisaP (I know you haven't posted, but I saw you lurking on the top of this page), I just read your blog and I'm sorry you had such a rough week. Next week will be better--after all, you'll be getting three quilts in the mail! [:)] Just be careful carrying them upstairs. [;)]

I can't wait to get the quilts! I am so excited! The pics you sent me look beautiful.

Remember I am soon going to have you do three more for the boys. I need to talk to Russ and see if we have the money since you are getting the first ones done so quick!

We cross posted. Those quilts are going to be a breath of fresh air.

Consecrated2God -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 11:47:19 AM)

I'm pleased with the way they are turning out. I just finished up the blue one! After lunch I'll iron the purple top and maybe lay it out and baste it together. I do need to do some cleaning, though, so I don't know how much I'll get to today.

I'm sorry about your Noah's Ark salt and pepper shaker collection. It's always sad when things like that get broken. I've had so many things get broken by husband and children. I can think of only one collectible thing that I have left, actually. I have a Hallmark Christmas tree ornament that I got when I was a baby that's pretty special to me. I had been told in the past it's worth some money, but I since found it a couple times online for not very much so that took away the temptation to sell it. [;)] Even then, the box has since gotten slightly squished and the lid to the box has disappeared, so I'll just keep it.

I just looked and found one identical to the one I have on Ebay. It's only $14.95. Not worth selling, IMO. LINK

PrincessDonna -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 11:48:55 AM)

Hiya, Lisa! We'll miss you in "that" neck of the woods, but I understand needing a break.

Hey, can I get a soda out of the soda machine? I don't see a pop machine in here.[;)]

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 11:54:17 AM)

Well this has certainly been an eductional thread so far!

I've learned that there's a moderator chat thread, that Lisa isn't a mod any longer and that in addition to the ebay quilt, she's done 3 more! And they're all for one of our other wonderful Lisas!

Hey y'all! [sm=wave.gif]

Nice Break Room, Lisa [sm=redhairsmile.gif]

saraimay75 -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 11:57:55 AM)

Aloha, Lisa glad you could join us.

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 11:59:50 AM)

Lisa, I'm thinking that either you or Kimberly was our first mod? Am I right on either one?

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 12:04:36 PM)

Russ emailed me and asked if I had any good news for him. The only thing that I could think of was the quilts. I am glad for that anyway.

aS far as how my week is going... The stuff that I put in my blog today was all stuff that we dealt with just yesterday. If you want me to go into the past week the list is MUCH longer.[;)]

Cute ornament.

I don't have many collectables that are just for dusting. AS knew i loved Noah's ark stuff, and gave me that. It isn't wasn't cheep. I don't have many items like that. I think that what I liked most about it is that it reminds me how much AS loves me. It isn't everyone whose husband's Aunt loves them so much. She is closer to me than any of my own aunts.

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 12:07:29 PM)

I think that laura has been a mod longer than Kimberly, and I remember Llisa becaming a mod...I just can't remember when.

dance4joy -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 12:11:42 PM)

Oooh, you have your own thread!!! I'm glad 'cause I'm always wanting to comment on stuff you write in your blog but didn't know where to put it that it would be appropriate.
Sounds like a break was a good idea. . .I'm sure it'll do you lots of good. [:D]

Man, I'm so jealous that you get to do all that quilting! I really need to get myself a sewing machine and start quilting again. I eventually quit because hand-piecing took so long that I kept getting bored halfway through. It's the hand quilting I enjoy!

Soda! We don't drink soda in Indiana! It's pop! [8D]

Shar-Mar, it's always nice to be able to educate people. [:D] Laura and Kimberly were both mods before me. I've been a mod since 2001, I believe. I think it was March. I may come back to it sometime, but I'm not sure at this point.

Emily, if I get tons and tons of quilt orders, I'll let you do some of the hand quilting. I love piecing the best. I do the piecing on the machine, though. It's always the quilting that I struggle with. It takes so long by hand, but on a machine it's difficult to keep the fabric from twisting and pinching. A professional quilting machine is waaay out of my price range, so I have to do it on a regular sewing machine. I was surprised I was even able to get LisaP's quilts under it! I'm not sure I could do anything bigger than a twin on my machine, though. You can actually pay people to machine quilt your quilts with the fancy machines (the ones that cost about $8,000) and they charge about $160 to quilt a King sized quilt. It's unbelievable.

dance4joy -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 12:39:26 PM)

Oh yeah, we'd make a great team. . .you could piece and I could quilt [:D] And it would give me something constructive to do in the evenings so I wouldn't feel guilty about watching T.V. [;)] LOL!

Of course that's only if you get tons and tons of orders. I'll be sure to tell all my friends about it!!

Are you sure it was 2001? Early 2001 was when I started posting, and you weren't a mod yet then. I remember your Wa1ker311 scandle and you thought you could never be a mod after that. Maybe you became a mod in 2002?

WhiteRoseBlessings -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 12:59:32 PM)

Oh wow; I was thinking that she was already a mod when she did Wa1ker311!

Man, that was funny!
Well, as a very interested lurker, it was funny. [:D]

Consecrated2God -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 2:59:49 PM)

Mmm, you might be right. Let's see--we moved to Missouri in 2001, and I know we were living in the first house in Springfield when I became a mod, but it was after the Wa1ker311 incident. That was right around Christmas. I remember it was on the night of our Christmas cantata because I put all the threads up in his name before I left and then came back to see the reaction when I came back that evening, and found out I was in big trouble. So that would have been our first Christmas there at that church in 2001, so yes, PC, you're right. It would have had to have been 2002. [:)]

Ellie-Mae -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 3:03:44 PM)

That was sooooooooo funny. That was also way more rememberable than you thought it was going to be huh?

theColonelswife -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 3:06:32 PM)

Whoa...what happened with the Wa1ker311 incident? This I have to hear about!

Consecrated2God -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 3:16:27 PM)

Oh, goodness. I haven't told you about that one? Well, here it goes again. Like they said, this was before I was a mod. There's this poster, Darryl, (Walker311) that was a mod at the time and was a favorite poster. He was planning on stepping down, and actually was planning on leaving altogether (although he's still around from time to time). He said he was going to go out with a bang and start a dozen silly threads before he left. He started a thread asking for ideas for the dozen threads he was going to start, and we gave him ideas, like "Let's Talk Latin!" and "Describe your most recent surgery--in detail" and "If you could commit one sin and get away with it, what would it be?" It was a fun thread. But then he chickened out and didn't start any of them.

So I decided to help him out. I registered for another account with the handle Wa1ker311. (Notice the "1" instead of the "l" in "Wa1ker" and started a dozen of threads from those ideas for him. Then I went to the cantata. When I came back, everything was in an uproar. Kimberly had moved all 12 of my threads off the board. Darryl was very upset and shaken that someone was impersonating him. I found out quite quickly that impersonating a moderator was against the Terms of Service. I apologized profusely and they moved my threads back, and I was told to delete that account and never do that again.

Then Darryl decided to try and take credit for the whole thing, and say it was his idea all along! Now, I was sorry for what I did, but it was my idea. [;)] The banter went on for several days, and I've never quite lived that one down. That was back when Fritz hand-picked all his mods. You didn't apply--you just waited until you were asked. I figured that blew my chances right there, but only a few months later Fritz asked me to train as a moderator! I was so excited. Of course, my record is still clean. Since I used another account when I committed that particular TOS violation, Consecrated2God still has never done wrong. [sm=angelhalo.gif]

zoebob -> RE: Lisa's Break Room (4/25/2007 3:26:26 PM)

I don't remember that either lisa but have heard references to it. I think I was still mostly in chat then. I know I became a mod in the spring of 2005 right before we moved down here.
