Thanks, Heather. Those are some really terrific pictures of Lauren!

Like everyone has already said..flash off. This is a Canon PowerShot SX100IS 8MP. I got it at sams club.

Heather,
If you can lock the focus down manually on the singers, you won't have shots where the people's heads just in front of you are in focus and the singers on stage are not. I'm assuming it can do that, since the camera is advertised as having a manual mode.

Although that camera isn't an SLR, it appears to have some features that many Point and Shoot type cameras lack.

You mentioned taking shots dead on rather than from the sides. The reason an auto-focus works better dead on in front is because there's less depth for the camera to sense and all the singers are roughly at an equal distance away from you. If you can lock the focus on a particular length, then you can shoot from the sides just as well and get the person you want in focus. If you're at an angle, though, just keep in mind that each singer is a different length away...depending on the aperture setting, it may not be possible to get them all in focus.

I was just thinking about something. I have taken several hundred pictures at SG concerts. Many of those pictures are of my son and each artist or group member. Of all those that we have seen, I only have pictures of me with four people, Frank Seamans, Scott Howard, Ed O'Neal, and Tim Lovelace.

I've always been so focused on getting pictures of my son with everyone that I tended to forget about getting someone to take pictures of me with everyone. I think that will change when I go to Nashville in two weeks. If my son is able to do it, I'll get him to take them. If not, I'll have to find someone else. I definitely want to get pictures of me with Janet Paschal and Oliver North!

If I could have, I would have had my pic taken with the Booth Bros. Esp. Ronnie!

I haven't had a chance to post them anywhere yet but I got a couple of really good pictures at the last concert (GV and L5) that I went to. One picture is of Gerald and Jason cracking up at a joke about Rodney. And of course Rodney with his "look." On the other picture, Frank Seamans looked right at me as I took it.
