so, why do you think there are more rude people in Boston? (if you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair)

I do not know why? It is just this culture of being rushed and doing things fast in the Northeast I suppose. I picked up a book not too long ago talking about the US. It mentioned how people from California are blown away at the such frenzied pace of New Yorkers. It also mentioned in contrast how New Yorkers are blown away at the such laid-back casualness of Californians as well, go figure.

People in New England are more impatient, for sure. Of all the places I've lived, this is the most frustration in terms of my speech defect. I've never had so much trouble getting people to understand me! As a result, I'm very isolated and dependant on John. It's sad, really...

When we met I thought that perhaps you were getting impatient with me instead.

I just made a post about South Station in another thread. Basically just explaining the restaurants that they have. Next time we will have to meet at a less crowded place instead.

Hopefully Marsha doesn't mind either. It does give her something to read however.

Deb, could your speech quality vary, depending on how excited, anxious or tired you are? Mine is worse at times, even my children can tell. In the 70s, a good friend who moved out of state suggest we tape cassettes back and forth. Holy smoke, was I ever surprised to hear my voice, plus a southern accent, to boot. Only six years lived in WV...go figure. Did I mention Tim is at Miracle Mountain Camp doing volunteer landscaping? He just called and said he's loving being in the midst of strong Christians. I've never heard such life in his voice.

I'm so glad Tim gets to spend time at the camp Marsha! My oldest is staffing and counseling at a Bible camp again this summer; it is a great experience for her. This week she'll be cooking. Dee

That's a great thing to hear! Must have put a nice smile on your face to hear it, too. The difference in pace is even greater between here and down south. I want to just reach in and yank the words out of my friends' mouth because they talk so slow! At least compared to here.

Deb - you're from SF???? Where exactly? When did you move away?? NYers are VERY rushed and fast-paced. Californians are a little more laid back, yes, but not like the rural parts of the country. But when you spend most of your day in traffic, you learn to just go with the flow.
